chapter 31
Josie POV
If I was hoping for a better day tomorrow, the next morning but I guess I was wrong. We landed in Paris and already Matthias hired a personal driver to drive us over to the Paris Hotel.
"Monsieur Lekas your destination is here,'' the driver said. We got out of the car as the driver took out our suitcases and took us inside the hotel.
Two men inside the hotel grabbed the suitcases and head over to the elevator. We followed them behind and escalated to our suite on the top floor.
The luxurious suite we entered in was filled with a bouquet of pink and red roses. There was a balloon that said Mr. and Mrs.Lekas with chocolate of strawberries and pineapples on the table.
After the security guards left, Matthias and I separated ourselves and wandered around the suite for a bit.
Matthias unraveled his suit while I went over to my suitcase and grabbed my other purse.
''Where are you going?'' Matthias asked.
"I should get going," I said, wanting to escape as quickly as I could.
"Where?" he asked.
I shrugged. "I don't know. I was thinking about going out for a drink."
''Josie can we please talk about--''
''What exactly do you want to talk about Matthias?'' I snapped.
''Look, Josie, I know what you think you saw but it's not what it looks like.''
I scoffed. ''Yeah, my ex-boyfriend says the same thing, what makes you believe that I should listen to you.''
''Josie, I'm innocent.''
''Innocent?!" I barked.
''Yes, Josie, I'm innocent!'' He yelled back.
''Your dick was thrusting inside of Destiny, and you think that you're innocent.''
''I know what but that's not--''
''STOP SAYING THAT!"
''Why?! I need you to believe me, Josie.''
''Why should I Matthias? You have a curse reputation with women. You don't care about me Matthias, you never did. You're just a selfish-bastard. To think there was a chance that maybe you were different, maybe you are not that guy that everyone claims to be. From the looks of it, I was wrong.''
He stays silent, staring at me, his wide eyes becoming glossy with tears. He sneers at me then laughs only adding fuel to my wrath.
"You think this is funny?" I snap.
He glares at me with hatred in his cruel dull eyes. ''You know Josie, you can think of me all you want but there wasn't a doubt that I would want to do that behind your back.''
''I know what I saw.''
''JOSEPHINE!" He barked, I jolted in fear. ''For fuck's sake.'' He whispers with a scoff at the end.
I opened my mouth to protest-to say something, anything. But he raised one hand to stop my questioning.
''I know what you saw, trust me I saw it too. But I swear on my own mother's and father's fucking grave I didn't sleep with her.'' His voice cracks. ''I didn't sleep with Destiny. The last time, we slept it was literally two years ago, I fucking swear baby."
I swallowed past the lump in my throat. "No, it's not."
He widens his eyes. "You truly won't believe me? At all? Whatsoever?'' He asked, his brows furrowed.
''No, I don't.''
His face lit up with anger this time and I realized my mistake.
Damn it, Josephine.
Please don't hold any of this against me, because all I ever did was love you more than I should have.
"Makes sense." He nodded. ''I'm sorry that you can't believe me, I can't convince you that you can trust me. I'm sorry that you can't even see clearly that this is all bullshit, that Destiny is setting us up against each other.''
''Matthias--''
"--I'm sorry that I was stupid enough to fall in love with you.''
''What?'' I whispered. "Matthias-"
He gave me a quick glare ''-Leave me alone, Josephine. We're done.''
...
I woke up to the sounds of the shower running right across of me. I groaned, realizing it was early in the morning. The rays of the sun were glowing through the window, I wake as if it's an emergency as if sleeping had become a dangerous thing.
Matthias got out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his broad shoulders and another towel wrapped below his lower abs.
I hate myself for finding Matthias this attractive.
Getting out of the bed, I cleared my throat and greeted him ''Good morning.'' Hoping he'd say it back, he didn't. Instead, he ignored me and took his muscle-tank olive hoddie and pulled out some white Nike shorts.
''Matthias,'' I said his name in a whisper.
''I heard you the first time,'' he mumbles.
It wasn't enough that he'd made himself scarce since our fight.
Did he really not care? Was one accusation, said out of fear and anger, enough to close the door on us forever?
Even in the silence, it was pretty obvious I was having an intense conversation.
I wanted him to repeat the words one last time ''I'm sorry that I was stupid enough to fall in love with you.''
''Why are you still here?'' He said cold-heartedly.
Scrambling to make him understand. "If I could take back what I said-"
"That's not how life works," he cuts me off. And from his tone, he wasn't planning on giving it back so I could give him more excuses. More apologies.
"I can feel your hurt, Josie and it kills me but I can't get past what happened last night. Instead, you chose to look me in the eye and say what you said. After everything, we've been through. You'd think that I'd do that to you? That's what you think of me?"
Tears flew down like a river through my cheekbones and I knew what I got myself into.
''Matthias, I'm sorry. I... I just, please I want to--''
"No," he continued darkly. "I don't accept your apology. Leave me alone."
