chapter 37
Matthias POV
The lights were dim, and the air was sticky and hot. It was the kind of place that just reeked of trouble. The kind of place that I was always nervous for Zach to go.
He weaved us through the gyrating crowd and walked us to the bar with the skill and ease of one who had done it many, many times before.
"You're thinking about her, aren't you?" Zach asked. I looked over to see his sharp blue eyes narrowed on my face.
"Yeah," I admitted. "I can't really explain it. It's just so unreal to me, you know.''
''Yeah, I mean I thought you were going to fake it til' you make it but I was wrong. You love Josie.'' Zach whistled. "At least you picked a smart one," he said. ''Josie is gorgeous, you hit the jackpot.''
''I sure did.''
Zach quaffed down his beer and smears the extra off his lips. ''Well guess you don't have to get worried about having kids,'' he joked.
Words left me. I stared into those bright blue eyes burning with anger, and my heart fell silent. His eyes soften and fear took over him.
''Dude, I... didn't mean that.''
''Sure, whatever Zach,'' I mumbled, taking a sip of my beer.
''Dude, sorry okay. I'm just pointing out that someday. It's gonna happen..''
I drank again, trying to forget all about the problems that kept plaguing me. I couldn't believe I had let myself get taken in by her beauty, not to mention Zach's comment about having kids.
''Isn't something that you want to talk with her about. Kids?''
I sighed. ''I don't know yet.''
''You have to talk to her about it sooner or later.''
If you two have that deep connection, she may be willing to take it to the next level. Women are like that." He spoke as if he had all the knowledge in the world about such matters.
"You're kind of freaking me out, would you just let be me? I literally just got married, I'm not trying to think about that right now," I snapped.
''I'm your friend Matthias. Telling you how it is.''He shook his head. "Don't pretend that wouldn't upset you. It would. I can see it on your face.''
I sighed. He was right, but I wasn't going to admit it. I couldn't.
''Zach, please don't lecture me right now. Alright? I don't need the fucking pressure. I just forced someone to marry me so I wouldn't lose the company.
Then, I created a dumb contract which by the way, didn't work at all because of my feelings towards Josie.
Not to mention, Bob was going to figure it out and it would make things worse. And yes I'm being a dick right now because truth is, I don't know if I am capable of wanting kids or not.''
I drained my second glass and held it up, giving the signal I wanted another. I finished the third drink before Zach declared I'd had enough.
''Oh sorry,'' Zach replies.
''It's fine,'' I mumbled under my breath.
''Matthias?''
''I heard you the first time Zachary,'' I said his full name in a dull tone which caused him to put his head down. It boils his skin when I say his full name whenever I'm upset with him.
I got out of my stool and took my car keys out. Zach continues to drink his beer and watched me pay the bartender.
''I'll see you later.''
He gives a short nod.''Alright man, later.''

I was still trying to catch my breath which had escaped me the moment I laid eyes on her in that tight black dress. I knew she had a nice figure, but hot damn, she was making the blood that should have been pumping through my body head south. I could hardly think straight.
I stood there in the bathroom with my sweatpants and muscle black shirt as water droplets dripped through my shoulders down from my hair. I had taken a nice warm shower, releasing tense I had on my body.
''Where the hell did you came from?'' I smirked, devilishly; admiring Josephine's beauty.
''Ahh, Maya just dragged me out in the city. We were both drained from watching Grey's Anatomy.''
I laughed softly as she came closer to me.
"Baby, I want to ask you something," she said.
I saw a little ice cream on the corner of her mouth and immediately reached for it, brushing it away with the pad of my thumb. The touch was electric.
My eyes dropped to her mouth as hers dropped to mine. Butterflies in my stomach were flitting about.
"Ice cream," I whispered.
"What?" she said, my eyes still on her mouth.
"You had ice cream there," I whispered.
She looked up at me, and for a brief second, I thought she would kiss me. She blushed and took a step closer to me.
"You wanted to ask me something?" I asked, my voice strained as I struggled to regain my composure.
She shook his head yes. ''Actually, I want to tell you something.'' She heaves a deep sigh.
''Matthias, I'm pregnant.''
