chapter 48

Matthias POV

''I'll see you guys soon!'' Maya said exiting the room.

''See you later, Maya. Thank you for coming,'' I said to her, hugging her. ''Have a safe drive back home.''

''Thank you, Matthias, call me if you guys need anything.''

''No problem.'' She blew a kiss to Elijah and Josie as she leaves the room to ourselves. Zach was here standing beside Josie. I went over as Zach prepares to leave us alone.

''Congrats, proud of you.''

''Thanks, man,'' I replied shortly.

''I'm going now, I'll talk to you guys later,'' he said patting me on the back and gave Josie a small hug.

''Bye, Zach,'' Josie said, and he waved a final goodbye to the both of us.

...

The morning after I was fully awake while getting some information from Dr.Kalis.

Josie was getting out of the hospital today and I planned a special nursery room that she hasn't seen yet.

I waited for this moment to show it to her, to let her know how much she means to me and for our son Elijah.

Thanks to my staff, and an interior design company I hired, it was perfect and I was thrilled to see the look on Josie's face when she gets there.

We left early and drove back to our home.

''We're here baby,'' Josie said, getting Elijah out of the car.

I grabbed the rest of the belongings and head inside. My staff team was there helping me out sorting the stuff by the living room.

''Welcome back sweetie,'' our maid, Shirley said to Josie. ''Hi handsome, oh my you look just like your daddy!"

Josie and I giggled at the same time. ''Yeah he sure does,'' she winks at me.

I extend my arm to her. ''Come here, I have something to show you.''

''A surprise?'' She smiled.

''Yes. Darling, a special one.''

Shirley gave a nod, letting Josie go with me while she keeps an eye on Elijah. We walked up the stairs and went to the first door on the right.

It used to be my little office area, but I rearranged it and turned it into a nursery room.

The room contained a large light blue baby crib, neatly made and two straight-backed chairs. On the back wall was a mural, a tree with every color of fall leaf imaginable and a few more besides. Josie followed me, not knowing quite what to expect.

''Matthias,'' Josie speaks

''Yeah, I think I went a little overboard,'' I chuckled, brushing my hand from the back of my head. I didn't understand why I was so nervous at the moment. I kept overthinking whether or not if this was a good idea to do this in the first place.

''Baby, you didn't it, I love it so much.''

I exhaled a relief. ''Really? Cause I--''

She placed her index finger on my mouth to be quiet. ''Don't say anything else baby. It's fine. I love it, and I love you for doing this.''

''I wanted to make sure I did was right.''

''I know you always do, that's why I love you so much. You're going to be the best father and husband I know.''

She takes a step further to me and gently kissed me. I kissed her back then kissed her on her nose then on her forehead once again. Her head rests against my chest and I wrapped my arms around her small waist.

I could feel my heartbeat... every single pound in my chest.

The two for me go together, ba-boom, I love you, ba-boom, I love you. I know your heart beats for me too, beats for our children, as does my own. I wish it to beat as long as yours does, my love, no more, no less.

To me, that makes perfect sense. For me, it is you that makes my world warm. No matter the weather outside, you are my warmth.
