CHAPTER THIRTEEN
LIAM POV
I am the type of individual who is known for his affairs, status, power and money.
I decided to spend my money on a good cause and one of them was investing my hard earned money in a new club that had recently opened up. It was called club kiss. And so far I think I've made the right decision because ever since that investment I've been receiving a lot of money from the shares.
And today I was invited to a show. It was more like a grand reopening and I was supposed to attend it.
"You and I are more like business partners but with your business schedule I can never get you to attend a few events that take place at the club."
"Avery I'm a very businessman and you of all people should know the club isn't my top priority right now."
"I know but tonight can't you make some time just to attend the event?"
I sighed deeply.
"This isn't a promise but I'll ask my assistant if I'll be free tonight."
Avery smiled at me.
"Thank you so much Liam."
My car slowly approached the club and it stopped in front of the entrance. My driver got out of the car and opened the door for me.
"Sir we've arrived."
"Thank you Doug you may go home for now I'll call you to come pick me up when the event is over."
He gave me a stern nod.
"Alright sir."
Once Doug was gone I was escorted inside by a bouncer who was standing at the entrance of the club.
"This way sir."
I was taken to my seat. I could see a girl on stage dancing.
"Can you please call the waiter?"
He nodded quietly.
"Of course sir."
A few minutes later I see the girl gracefully exiting the stage and the audience cheering for her. It looks like I had missed the show but luckily I had gotten a glimpse of her.
"Liam, you made it!"
When I looked up I found Avery smiling at me. She had two drinks in her hands.
"Yeah I decided to make some time."
She nodded quietly and handed me one of the drinks.
"So how do you like the show so far?" She asked curiously.
"I think it was good even though I only saw a glimpse of the dancer on stage."
"She's one of the new recruits and she did very well on her first try. Her name is Bambi."
I took a sip of my drink.
"That's a very interesting name for a woman."
"I would like to meet her. I think she did a very good job."
Avery looked thrilled.
"That can be arranged Liam I'll let her know and arrange something that can work for the both of you."
Avery glanced at her wrist watch.
"Excuse me, I have to see one of the dancers."
I nodded quietly and watched her walk away.
KACEY POV
I got changed and wore my normal casual clothes. I was about to leave when someone called my name.
"Kacey."
I turned around to find the mistress beaming at me.
" You did a great job and I'm really proud of you. I'm glad that you stepped out of your comfort zone."
I smiled at her and wore my glasses.
"Thank you."
"I personally came to give you your payment for tonight you earned it."
The mistress handed me an envelope.
"This is $5000 dollars in cash. You can count it if you like."
I shook my head negatively.
"No that won't be necessary besides I trust you."
She gave me a pat on the shoulder.
"I'll see you tomorrow please remember that your gig is every night."
I nodded quietly.
"You should go home now, I'm sure that you're exhausted."
"Yeah goodnight."
I managed to find a cab outside and it was going to drop me off at campus. With the money I've made today I'm sure that it will help out my mother and the bakery. I just have to convince her to take it without her getting suspicious.
While I was in the cab I began removing my makeup. By the time I was arriving at campus it was very late but the gates were left open. I sneaked into the room. Luckily Ronnie was already asleep. I changed into my pajamas and made myself a snack in our small kitchen.
After I was done eating the sandwich I went back to sleep.
"Kacey."
"Kacey."
"Wake up you're going to be late."
I could feel someone shaking me in my sleep.
"No please let me sleep, I just need a few more hours."
"Kacey!"
My eyes jerked open and I found Ronnie frowning at me.
"Wake up, you're going to be late for class."
I groaned in annoyance.
"I thought we only had classes in the afternoon."
"We're not paying attention at all. There's been a change in plans because our history teacher is traveling to visit his family so all our afternoon classes will take place in the morning."
"Didn't you get my text?"
I let out a yawn.
"I don't even remember where I put my phone."
"Okay we'll get up, I'll make you some breakfast, just go take a shower."
I slowly got out of bed.
"What time did you arrive last night? I never even heard coming in."
"I don't clearly remember but it was before midnight."
I took off my clothes and went to the bathroom.
"What were you doing?"
I turned on the water.
"Studying with a few people."
"Like a study group?"
"Yeah."
A few minutes later I stepped out of the shower and wore my clothes.
"You should have told me earlier I would have joined you."
"Oh didn't tell you because the group is already full."
"You look different Kacey."
I sighed deeply and began eating my cereal.
"What do you mean?" I muttered quietly with a mouth full of cereal.
"I mean I don't know what's going on with you Elijah thinks the same thing."
"Maybe a little change is good."
Ronnie shrugged carelessly.
"I guess you're right plus that haircut makes you stand out and you look very beautiful."
"Thanks."
"Come on let's go, we don't want to be late for class, we both know how cranky the professor can be."
I let out another yawn and grabbed my books.
"Yeah let's go."
Ronnie looked concerned.
"Are you sure that you're okay?"
I nodded quietly.
"Yes I'm fine I just stayed up late that's why I'm feeling tired and sleepy."
"Maybe after class is over you should get some rest."
"That's a good idea."
A few hours later we were dismissed and class was finally over. I barely heard what the professor was mumbling because I found it hard to stay focused. I just hope that this job doesn't ruin my studies.
Someone snapped their fingers in my face.
"Kacey."
I opened my eyes.
It was Elijah.
"You've been dozing ever since we left class. What's wrong with you?" He asked curiously.
Before I could answer Ronnie beat me to it.
"That's because she came late last night and she was studying with some friends."
"Apparently they created some kind of study group together."
"Ronnie's gaze lingered on my hand as she gently grasped it.
"I only thought that you changed your haircut but I never saw that you even had your nails done, they look so pretty."
I pulled my hand away from her.
"Thanks."
Elijah kept looking at me.
"Since when do you get your nails done?"
I sighed deeply.
"Does that really matter?"
"From what I remember I know that you hated girly stuff so this just comes as a shock to me."
I smiled at him.
"Maybe it's time I embrace my inner girl."
He shook his head negatively.
"Something doesn't seem right."
I left my coffee on the table.
"Where are you going?"
"I need to go buy something at the store."
Elijah stood up.
"Since you're feeling exhausted I'll come with you and also make sure that you don't get hit by a car or something."
"I don't think that will be necessary."
"Elijah is right just let him come with you" Ronnie muttered quietly.
"I don't need him to come with me because I'm going to buy tampons."
Elijah looked uncomfortable.
"Alright I'm out."
My idea had worked. I went back to my room and took back the books I carried from my previous class. I had many pending assignments and I had to get them done this evening.
I grabbed my backpack and left campus. Keeping my Job a secret from my friends is getting more complicated than ever and part of me thinks that one of these days they'll definitely figure out the truth.
I went to the bank and deposited half of the money in my mother's bank account. I only had one thing left to do and that was to convince her that I got a student loan or found two jobs.
