CHAPTER TWENTY TWO
RES POV
A wicked smirk curved my lips when I walked past Ronnie with the pretty toy glued to my side. He had a frown on her face. We might have grown up together in the same social circle but that doesn't change the hatred I have for her.
For years it has always felt like she had taken everything away from me. Her mother had broken up with my parents so I was going to take out all my anger on her.
My father is a crowned king from Cordelia. Unlike the other royals, he fell in love with a maid who worked for him and that woman is my mother.
And Ronnie's parents, well let's just say that they are unique. Ronnie is adopted and she was raised by two princesses who are lesbians.
For years Ronnie has been bullied because of the sexuality of her parents back in those days I used to come to her aid but not anymore.
We used to be best friends but not anymore. The love that I had for Ronnie as a child soon turned into hate in my eyes. Ronnie was just the girl next door. But something always called me out to her. She wasn't the little girl I abandoned years ago, she was a young woman and I wanted her to warm my bed.
I was about to leave but she called my name.
"Resmond."
I turned around facing her with a frown on my face.
"It's Res if you're going to say my name you could at least say it correctly."
"I'm sorry Res but I still don't understand why you're treating me this way. We used to be best friends."
"You said it yourself we used to be best friends as in past tense."
I saw the hurt written over her face, tears threatened to roll down her cheeks.
"Why do you hate me so much?" She whispered softly.
I chuckled softly.
"Hate you?"
"Even the word hate isn't enough to describe how much I can't stand looking at you."
"Res…"
"Are you done talking? I'm going to be late for my next class."
The pain in her eyes gave me the satisfaction I wanted and crazed if she thought this was over she was wrong because I was just warming up.
"Get ready kid because this was just the beginning."
RONNIE POV
He left me standing in the cold and never glanced back at me after he said all those awful words to me. This time I didn't hold back. I let the tears roll down my cheeks because I was done holding back.
Res was a jerk and he didn't deserve the tears I was shedding for him. He was a heartless prick who only cared about himself and I couldn't understand how he still belonged to such good people like his parents. I watched him walk away until he disappeared from my sight.
Just like that he was gone. I couldn't find it in my heart to hate him because the jerk had my heart. I was helplessly in love with him.
Yet my heart was bleeding for him and he would toss it away. Instead of going back to class I went back to my room and cried my eyes out because he had broken down my walls and left me vulnerable.
He only cared about destroying me.
KACEY POV
With the money I had made the previous night I sent it to my mother hoping that she would add it to the debt we had. It wasn't enough but it would be a start. When I arrived at campus I went to my room and avoided eye contact mostly because of the way I was dressed. It was all glitter and sparkle.
But the soft sobs in the bedroom made me stop in my tracks. All the lights were turned off but I could see a figure laying on the bed. It was Ronnie.
I sat next to her running my fingers through her hair.
"Ronnie what happened?"
She sobbed harder burying her face into the pillow.
"I won't tell anyone just be honest with me."
She sat upright wiping her tear stricken face.
"You wouldn't understand Kacey what it feels like to be in love with a guy who hates you."
"You're in love with someone? But you never even told me."
"I would have told you Kacey since you're my best friend but it's not that easy."
"Res isn't-"
"Wait, you're in love with Resmond? Like that hot guy and total jerkface?"
Ronnie nodded quietly.
"Yeah you don't have to describe him."
"Res and I grew up together and we used to be best friends. At some point he was a few years older than me but we were inseparable."
"Our parents used to be very close and that's how we became friends but ever since he left Cordelia and came to study in the United States he changed."
"He stopped calling me or his parents. He was a totally different person and when it got worse our parent's thought that it would be a good idea if we went to the same college so that I could keep an eye on him."
"We arranged everything behind his back but when he finally figured out the truth he was pissed and I guess that's why he started hating me."
"He made you cry right?"
"Yeah he enjoys doing that."
I grasped both of her hands.
"Ronnie don't give him the satisfaction of watching you cry because he doesn't deserve you don't waste your time on him you're a very pretty girl and I'm sure that other guys out there would be lucky to have you as their girlfriend."
Tears spilled down her cheeks.
"That's the problem Kacey I'm helplessly in love with that jerk I can't stop loving him even if he makes my heart bleed."
"I'll just have to live the pain of loving him."
"Have you ever told him about your feelings?"
She shook her head negatively.
"Res would make of fun and he wouldn't even hesitate to tell the whole school."
"I know that you love him but you shouldn't let him walk all over you like that you have to stand up for yourself and defend yourself."
"I know that you can do it."
She nodded quietly.
"Thanks for cheering me up Kacey you're a true friend."
I wrapped my arms around her, hugging her tightly.
She pulled back and smiled at me.
"Since you gave me some good advice I would like to return the favor as well."
I nodded quietly.
"Okay go ahead."
"It's about Elijah."
I groaned in annoyance.
"Don't make that sound just hear me out."
"You guys have been fighting for a while and both of you look unhappy. I want you to talk to him and end this petty fight and before you say anything I don't care about who started it."
"He called me a slut."
"Why did he call you that?" She asked curiously.
"Because he's jealous that I finally have a boyfriend."
"You're hurting him without even realizing it."
I sighed softly.
"He loves you when are you going to finally realize it?"
"I don't wanna talk about this Ronnie."
"Even if you don't feel the same way about him, the least you can do is to just make up and become friends again."
"Fine I'll go talk to him but he says anything crazy I'm walking away from this mess and I'm never coming back."
She rolled her eyes at me.
"I know that in the end you'll do the right thing in the end just go find Elijah."
I got up and left the room. After searching for Elijah I found him in the library and slowly approached him.
When he saw me he got up with a frown ready to leave but I called out to him.
"Elijah, wait."
He turned around facing me.
"Can we talk?"
"Please."
