CHAPTER FORTY FIVE

KACEY POV

"I didn't hide the truth from you deliberately Liam back then I had conflicted feelings and it was just a lot to take in especially at my age."

"The world had painted me as your whore and I just wanted to disappear and on top of that I found out that I was pregnant and when my mother found out she didn't want me to keep the baby."

"She wanted me to have an abortion and on top of that I had to find out that she was having an affair with my best friend."

"That was just the last straw and I couldn't take it so I ran away from home without even looking back."

He sighed softly.

"You could have said something Kacey I would have dropped everything to help you."

"I know but at that time I didn't want to bother anyone with my problems and we were also in bad times."

"It hasn't been easy to keep Tatia away from you. She was so eager to meet you and I couldn't stop her this time."

"We'll find her Kacey, it's just a matter of time when one of my enemies has her but I can assure you that he won't hurt her."

"I hope you're right Liam."

"Kacey?"

I looked up.

"This time don't try to keep my daughter away from me."

"I'm her father and I have every right to be in her life."

"I know Liam and I'm sorry for keeping her away from you. I thought I was doing the right thing."

"If you had met her sooner she wouldn't have run away from home and we wouldn't have been in this situation."

"Are you okay Kacey?" Anthony asked curiously as he wrapped his arm around my waist.

"I'm fine."

My gaze slid to Liam who watched us with amusement.

I knew what Anthony was doing even though he didn't say he was warning Liam to keep his distance.

Anthony offered his hand to Liam and to my surprise Liam looked at Anthony and walked away.

I watched him walk away.

He was still the arrogant cocky, arrogant man I had left and a part of me had missed his attitude.

Anthony was a complete gentleman and Liam on the other hand he was the opposite.

Anthony's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

"So that was the famous billionaire."

I looked at Anthony and smiled to myself.

Anthony cocked a brow at me.

"Let's go before his arrogance starts rubbing off on you Kacey."

I nodded quietly.

"I handled everything at the police station while your prince charming swept you away with his charms."

I rolled my eyes at him.

"Don't exaggerate we were just talking about Tatia."

Anthony didn't dare to say it but by the looks of it. He sounded like he was jealous of Liam. Even though we lived together I've only seen Anthony as a good friend and I've never seen our relationship past that barrier.

And I wanted things to remain that way.

RONNIE POV

It felt like Res was ignoring me on purpose; he didn't answer my calls or even reply to texts today. Something was definitely up and this was so just unlike him.

Despite my gut telling not to dig into this I decided to go to his apartment. If something was truly wrong Res should have said something instead of remaining silent. It wasn't long before I arrived at his apartment and opened the door.
I found a girl in nothing but her bra and panties picking up her discarded clothes which were on the floor.

Our eyes locked and her cheeks turned red.

"I'm sorry you had to find me this way Ronnie you must be Res's little sister right?"

I blinked away the tears.

His sister?

"My name is Pearl and don't worry about the mess I was just about to leave anyway Res said he would call the cleaning lady."

Res had a girl in his house.

I walked past Pearl and found Res in bed wearing his boxers. I was so worried about him and it turns out that he was having a good time.

I went to the kitchen and turned on the faucet to get some water.

It was time he woke up, especially my playing with my feelings.

I went back to his room and poured the water on him. He woke up with a gasp checking his surroundings.

The bed was wet and so were the beddings but I didn't care since he was going to call the cleaning lady.

He glared at me.

"What the hell is wrong with Ronnie?!"

I rolled my eyes at him.

"Why did you make me your girlfriend if you were planning on cheating with me?"

Tears threatened to roll down my cheeks but I kept them at bay.

I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of watching me cry. Res wasn't worth my tears.

He frowned at me.

"What are you even talking about?"

He got up taking slow steps towards me and I moved away from him.

"Ronnie…"

It sounded more like a plea.

"You cheated on me."

"I didn't."

"I found Pearl in your house and she was getting dressed."

"Nothing happened between us."

I chuckled softly fighting against the tears.

"And I'm supposed to believe you?"

"You made a fool out of me Res and I won't let you do it again."

I left his house and never looked back.

"Ronnie!"

He chose to mess up things between us. I just hope that in the end it was worth it. We were no grown ups but nothing seemed to change at all. It was like we were back in college again where we were enemies.

I just wanted him to hate me again maybe the love I feel for him would go away and be replaced with the bitterness I was feeling right now.

It was a long journey but I found myself walking towards the one place that gave me comfort.

The club where I was a completely different person. Ron didn't have to listen to anyone because she made her own rules and that's what I loved about her.
When I finally arrived at the club my feet were sore but I didn't care I continued pushing myself.

I changed into my costume and wore my mask.

It was show time.

Anette placed a comforting hand on my lower back.

"Are you okay?" She asked curiously, her voice laced with concern.

I nodded quietly ignoring the pain I felt inside. It was all because of Res.

"Yeah I'm fine."

I smiled at her.

"Let's give them a show they'll never forget."

She offered me her hand and I grasped it.

For years I was bent on having something that didn't even belong to me. I wanted Resmon Connard and when I finally had him it didn't take long for him to get tired of me.

I wanted him to be mine and yet I can't have him because he's forbidden to belong to me.

Maybe I was better off without him in my life. I was better off alone just like the way he had abandoned me in Cordelia. I shouldn't have gone after him. The end results of my stubbornness only brought me heartache.

LIAM POV

I wasn't interested in forming a relationship with Kacey's boyfriend. That was the least thing on my mind. I hated his guts since the day I saw him at the police station when he had his hands on her.
Kacey and I continued working together in order to find Tatia but spending time together brought back memories when we used to be in love with one another.

And this time she was more beautiful than ever. I couldn't even take my eyes off her. My phone was ringing and I fished it out of my pocket when I glanced at the called ID. It was an unknown number.

I answered the call signaling Kacey to remain silent.

"Hello."

"So you've finally joined forces with your baby momma."

I looked over at Kacey.

"She's a very beautiful woman, no wonder you're crazy about her."

"You have a beautiful family Liam, it's a shame that you're going to lose it once I'm done with you."

"What do you want, Brock? This game of yours has gone on long enough. I want you to release Tatia and let's settle this alone."

"I just want my daughter back."

"Okay then meet me alone I don't want any police involved it's going to be just you and me."

Kacey shook her head negatively.

"I'll meet you wherever you want, Brock just give me the time and place I'll be there."

"That's what I wanted to hear, Liam , your cooperation. I'm glad you've put your pride aside after all your daughter's life is in my hands.

"I'll send you the location" Brock muttered quietly and hung up.

"You shouldn't meet him alone Liam, it's too risky."

I smiled at Kacey.

"It's not about me Kacey, I'd do anything for my daughter even if it means I have to give up my life for her."

"You should go home, I'm sure that Anthony is waiting for you."

"Anthony and I are just friends."

ANTHONY POV

Maybe coming to New York was a bad idea. I was slowly losing Kacey and she was slipping away from me Liam was stealing her away from me.

I couldn't let him take her away from he already took Tatia but I wasn't going to let him have Kacey.

I loathed Liam Praise and his damn money.
