CHAPTER THIRTY THREE
AMBER POV
It's been hours and Kacey Still hasn't come back home. I was starting to worry that she wasn't going to come back. Elijah went out looking for her but I doubt if she'll even listen to him when he finds her. I know that my betrayal had probably cut deep because she found that her own mother was having an affair with her best friend but Elijah wasn't a kid he was old enough to make his own decisions.
Kacey found out about our affair and didn't take the matter too lightly . I wonder how Elijah's parents will react if they found out that I'm dating my daughter's childhood best friend.
My phone rang and I answered the call without even checking the called ID hoping that it would be Kacey.
"Kacey?"
"No, this is Mike from the bank."
"Oh I'm sorry I thought you were someone else."
"If this isn't a good time I can call you later ma'am."
"No, that won't be necessary, you can proceed."
"I wanted to inform you that the loan that your husband took from the bank has been paid for and your debt is clear."
"What?"
"Yes, so there will be no need to worry about the bakery because everything has been settled."
I nodded quietly.
"Are you sure about this?" I asked curiously.
"Yes I'll even send you a copy of the transaction ma'am."
"Okay please do that."
Once the call was disconnected. I received the email where Mike had sent a copy of the transaction receipt.
He was right everything was paid for. I even received a huge sum of money in my back account.
Tears spilled down my cheeks. The bakery was saved and one day it would belong to Kacey.
A few minutes later Elijah came back but he had a sad look. I knew what it meant that he didn't find my daughter.
"Any luck?"
He shook his head negatively.
"No, I couldn't find her anywhere. I think that she must have left town, Amber."
"But she has nowhere to go."
"I'm worried about her because she's out there pregnant and alone."
"You don't have to worry about anything. I already went to the police station and filled in for a missing person. They'll inform you if they find anything."
I nodded quietly and Elijah wrapped his arms around me.
"I'll do everything in my power to find her Amber I promise."
"You're doing so much for me Elijah thank you so much but you didn't have to pay all the debts that my ex husband left behind."
Elijah released a frown plastered on his face.
"What are you talking about?"
"I mean Mike from the bank just contacted me and he informed me that someone paid all the debts I assumed that it was you."
He shook his head negatively.
"No Amber, if I had that kind of money you know that I would have helped you a long time ago."
"I might come from a rich family but don't like receiving money on a silver platter that's my father's money and I want to earn my own money as well."
I nodded quietly.
"If it wasn't you then who was it?"
Elijah shrugged carelessly.
Just then there was a knock on the door.
"I'll go open the door and see who it is. Who knows, maybe it might be Kacey."
Elijah stayed behind while I went to open the door.
I was stunned to find a man standing in the doorway wearing a very expensive tailored suit.
"How may I help you?"
"My name is Liam Praise."
My eyes widened in shock when I recalled where I saw his name and that was on the news.
I glared at him.
"You!"
"Is it okay if I come in Mrs Simpson? I just want us to talk about your daughter."
"Who is it honey?" Elijah yelled from inside.
He kissed me on the cheek and looked at the man in front of us.
"You bastard," Elijah snarled angrily.
Liam looked at me and then back at Elijah in disbelief.
"I don't want to know what's going on between the two of you but I'm just here to talk about Kacey."
Elijah grabbed Liam by the collar.
"You're very shameless Liam, how dare you show your face here."
"I just want to have a civil conversation."
I sighed softly.
"Elijah let him go."
"Are you honestly defending him?"
"Of course I'm still furious but just let him go. I need to hear what he has to say."
"I knew you were Kacey's best friend but I never thought that you would be romantically involved with her mother."
"Enough!" I yelled angrily.
"If you have nothing sensible to say then get the fuck out."
"I'll say whatever I have to say right here I don't think I can stand being in the same with Elijah."
Elijah released and muttered an insult under his breath..
"I'm the one who paid the debts that your ex husband left behind. I only recently found out that it was the only reason why Kacey was working as a stripper."
"If she had told me sooner I would have done something about it."
"We don't need your money."
"I don't care, I'm just here to see Kacey. We have a lot to talk about."
"I don't want to lose her because of the mistake I made. I want to make things right between us."
"Your daughter wasn't just a booty call to me, she meant more to me and I fell in love with her."
I glared at him.
"So you're the man who impregnated my daughter?"
"What?"
"Kacey is pregnant?"
"Don't act so shocked. First you humiliated her and left her pregnant and abandoned her."
"I never abandoned Kacey. I'll take responsibility for the baby and I'll marry your daughter if you think I'm incapable of taking care of her."
"But I'm sorry for all the hurt that happened. There's no way to take away the pain you and Kacey felt but I'm sorry it won't ever happen again."
Tears rolled down my cheeks.
"I want to talk to Kacey, just let me see her."
I sniffled softly.
"Kacey is gone and I have a feeling that she's never going to come back."
LIAM POV
Kacey was gone and it was like she had vanished without a single trace. She took my baby along with her. She didn't even bother telling me that I was going to be a father.
No wonder she had a dizzy spell when we were in the woods.
Where would I even start looking? She could be anywhere the world was so big she could be in any country.
I sat inside my car lost until I felt someone tap on the car's window. When I looked up I found Elijah staring at me.
"What do you want?"
"You look all sad and miserable is it because of Kacey?"
"If you have nothing better to say then just leave. I honestly don't have the strength to deal with you right now."
"I'm glad that you lost Kacey because you didn't even deserve her."
"I'm happy that you're out of her life."
I swallowed hard.
"The expression on your face right is priceless."
He smirked and walked away.
Maybe that douchebag was right. I deserved to lose Kacey because my presence in her life had only brought her pain but a part of me didn't want to let her go because my life was a mess without her and nothing was going to be alright.
I should have seen all the warning signs when she was with me that day.
I pulled out my phone and tried calling her but her cell phone was off. I sent her multiple texts but she never replied back.
Kacey was gone.
RES POV
The semester was over and ever since that day I couldn't find Ron the sassy stripper that rejected a crowned prince and that was a big mistake on her part.
I had no idea what she even looked like but I saw the color of her eyes and hair. She had dark brown hair and eyes.
But when she blushed they changed into a caramel brown. I was going to find her at all costs. No girl has ever rejected me and gotten away with it.
One way or another I was going to make
She was doing it again, falling asleep in class like she hadn't slept in days.
Class eventually ended and Ronnie was still asleep. Everyone else left and walked towards her, hesitating whether I should wake her up or not.
"Ronnie."
"Wake up."
I sighed deeply.
She still didn't make an attempt to wake up.
I placed my hand on her lower back and her eyes jerked open.
I moved away from her.
"Fuck Ronnie what the heck happened to you?"
She glared at me.
"Why did you touch me?" She snapped.
"Because you fell asleep I was only trying to wake you up."
"Well I didn't ask for your help."
Ronnie got up and grabbed her books before she could leave. I grasped her hand gently.
"I know I don't show it much but I care about you Ronnie what's really going on?"
"Did you care about me when you left me alone with your stupid friends?"
"That was just a prank Ronnie and that happened years ago just get over it."
Tears threatened to roll down her cheeks.
"Get over it?"
"I almost got raped Res and it's all your fucking fault!"
The color drained from my face.
"What?"
Ronnie walked away leaving me speechless.
