CHAPTER FORTY TWO
RES POV
It felt like the world had come to a stand still when I received the phone call from Ronnie's mother. Ronnie wanted to take her life by overdosing on sleeping pills. A part of me felt like it was my fault.
"I know that you're not very close with Ronnie but can you talk to her? She hasn't been answering my calls since we left the hospital."
"Karliah."
"Please Resmond you're the only one who get through to Ronnie I know that she'll listen to you."
"Okay I'll talk to her."
I hung up and placed my phone on the king sized bed. It wasn't a lie at all I thought Ron was just joking around when she mentioned that Ronnie would try to commit suicide.
Was it because of me?
I left the house and found myself walking towards the club. It was the only place I could talk to Ron without drawing too much attention from other people.
Once she saw me she smiled at me.
"You came, I thought I scared you away or something."
"I want to talk to you alone."
She cocked a brow at me.
"Tonight."
"Oh you're being serious?"
I nodded quietly.
"It's important I hope that you show up."
I began walking away but her voice stopped me in my tracks.
"Where are you going?"
I turned around to face her.
"To find Ronnie before she does anything stupid again."
"You seem very close, do you know where she is?"
Ron refused to meet my gaze and she looked away.
"The beach."
I swallowed hard.
"Is she going to kill herself?"
Ron gave me a weak smile.
"I'd hurry if I was you Res because the clock is ticking."
I left the club in a hurry and got on my motorcycle.
Every muscle within me ached, maybe it was because I was scared of losing Ronnie.
I tried calling her but her cell phone was off. If something were to happen to Ronnie today I would never forgive myself and I'd live the rest of my life feeling guilty.
She had to be alright.
It felt like I'd been on the road forever when I finally came across the beach. I could see her car parked at a distance. I parked my motorcycle next to her car and walked towards her.
She was just sitting there in deep thought and I sat beside her watching her. She didn't seem to have noticed me.
"Enjoying the view?" I asked curiously while staring at the waves.
"Res?"
"What are you doing here?"
"Ronnie what did you try to do?"
She looked away.
"Your mother already told me everything you should know that I'm not worth it Ronnie not if it's going to cost your life."
"I had so much going on Res I wanted to tell you the truth about my feelings but I never found the right opportunity."
"You only saw me as your sister and that really hurt my feelings back then."
"I loved you first Res and maybe I was hoping that you would also feel the same way about me."
"You deserve someone who's going to treat you like the princess you are, Ronnie and I'm not that man."
Tears spilled down her cheeks.
"Are you rejecting me?"
She smiled at me.
"I'm not going to force you to love me Res that's just beneath me. I'll be happy with your friendship."
"I ruined things between us when I seduced you right?"
I chuckled softly.
"You're not the only guilty Ronnie because I wanted you as well that night, it wasn't just an act."
"I just want things to go back the way they were but I'm sure that it won't be possible since I've tasted you."
Ronnie blushed and looked away.
"Friends shouldn't know what they taste like Ronnie, you and I can never be friends."
"So what are you saying?"
"Give me some time to think things over, maybe we can try to have a relationship."
"I've never had a girlfriend before."
"You want me to be your girlfriend?"
"Yeah I guess so what do you think?"
"It's the only way I can keep you to myself. I don't want any other man touching you, Ronnie."
I wiped her tears away.
"Are you saying this because my parents sent you?" She whispered softly.
"No one sent me all I know is that I want to keep you close, the mere thought of losing you drives me crazy."
"You won't lose me Res I promise."
"Pinky promise?"
Ronnie held her pinky wiggling her little finger at me.
I can't believe that it took me this long to realize that I've been in love with my best friend. The little girl that I called my sister.
"Come here."
Ronnie sat closer to me.
"I've been dying to kiss you."
"Then kiss me."
I pulled her close, crushing my lips on hers gently enjoying the sweet taste of her lips and how they felt against mine.
I couldn't promise Ronnie that we'll have the perfect relationship because we were just two toxic people together and the end results would be devastating. Our relationship was going to be a war but I was certain on one thing I wasn't going to abandon her because we'll face every obstacle together.
I pulled back with a smirk.
"Let's go."
I offered Ronnie my hand.
"Do you trust me?"
"Yes."
She grasped my hand gently.
BROCK POV
He thought he had won against me but little did he know that I was just bringing the fire. I had personally witnessed the little scene that took place at the club kiss.
That kid was the key to all my problems. It was clear that Liam cared a lot about her. This was my opportunity to finally get revenge on Liam and bring him to his knees.
I waved at the bouncer signaling to come over to my car because I knew that Liam had installed a few cameras outside and inside the club.
"Sir, you called for me."
I nodded quietly.
"You're Greg right?"
"Yes."
"Good well I have an important job for you Greg if you're willing to earn a couple of thousands the job is yours."
"I'll do anything sir."
"Good now tell me about the little girl who showed up at the club."
Greg looked around checking if someone was watching him.
"Her name is Tatia Praise."
"Praise?" I muttered quietly.
"Yes sir I thought it was strange that they have the same surname, maybe the girl is Liam's kid."
This was interesting information.
"You're right Greg he has been with so many women I'm sure that one of them got knocked up by him."
So the famous billionaire has a daughter he doesn't know about. I'm sure this will be his new weakness.
"It seems like the little girl doesn't know who Liam is and Liam doesn't know anything about the kid either."
"I overheard the kid saying that she came to New York to look for her father."
"I need footage of the club so that I can get a clear picture of that little girl."
"Send me an email as soon as I receive the footage. I'll send you the payment."
Greg nodded quietly.
"But I have to warn you sir that kid is in trouble. I'd advise you to watch your back because she's very intelligent."
"Don't worry Greg, I know how to take care of such naughty kids."
Once I received the footage from Greg I got a clear picture of Tatia and printed out a few flyer's of her and labeled her as a missing person. The flyers were all over the city because I wanted Liam to see them. I was going to be the one posing as Tatia's father.
It was just a matter of time before Liam contacted me inquiring about Tatia.
KACEY POV
It's been days now and I haven't gotten a clue to where Tatia might be. Anthony and my mother continued encouraging they didn't want me to lose because Tatia was close.
A gasp escaped my lips when I came across a flyer that had Tatia's face. They labelled her as a missing person but the shocking part was that I wasn't responsible for the flyers because I wanted to find Tatia without Liam being involved.
"Anthony, have a look at this…"
He looked at one of the flyers shocked.
"Someone else is also looking for Tatia. Do you think it's Liam?" I asked curiously.
Anthony shook his head negatively.
"I don't think it's him, Kacey , besides he doesn't know anything about Tatia's existence."
I nodded quietly.
"Maybe you're right but we have to get to the bottom of this. I need to find my daughter."
"We have to inform the police."
I looked at the flyers with a heavy heart.
"I should have never left her alone that day Anthony, maybe she wouldn't have run away from home."
He placed a comforting hand on my shoulder.
"It's already too late to have regrets Kacey, we just have to keep on looking. I know that we'll find her."
"We've been a good mother to Tatia, don't ever doubt yourself."
