CHAPTER THIRTY
RONNIE POV
"From all the answers you've given me I can see that you're another student from Venus university" the headmistress muttered quietly while staring at her notes.
I nodded quietly.
"Yes I'm a student there."
She closed the notebook in her hand.
"I'm sorry but you can't work here. Ronnie , your friend Kacey, caused a big scandal and the club's name was at stake. I won't take another risk by hiring another student."
"Please I really need this job."
She narrowed her eyes on me.
"From what I've gathered you're not even enrolled at that university under a scholarship; this means that you're paying for your tuition."
"I'm sure that you're coming from a well to do family so why do you need this job?"
I sighed softly.
"I want to be like Kacey, I mean Bambi."
"I want to feel confident, fearless, and beautiful. I'm sure that any person in my shoes would want the same thing."
"I'm not here for the money if that's what you're worried about. I just need a job here so that I can feel beautiful back at campus. I'm a nobody and the guy I'm in love with barely notices me."
I stared at my reflection in the mirror.
"Look at me, I feel so worthless right now."
"Okay."
I cocked a brow at her.
"Does that mean that I got the job?"
She nodded quietly.
"Yes and you talk too much . You can start tomorrow night but I'll need to prepare a contract for you."
"What will be your undercover name?" She asked curiously.
"Ron."
"Ron?"
"Yes."
"Alright I'll see you tomorrow night and fill in on all the basics."
She spared one last glance at me.
"Please keep your identity a secret and don't let anyone find out that you're working here. I don't want another scandal."
I nodded quietly.
"You have my words madam I won't tell anyone I promise."
I left the club feeling optimistic step one of my plan was already completed. The next thing I had to do was to introduce Ron to Res and make sure that he gets attracted to her.
A few minutes later I arrived at Campus and bumped into a hard body. I was about to fall but someone caught me. When our eyes locked I let out a gasp.
"Res."
"You smell different."
I glared at him and slipped out of his embrace.
"I don't like that scent on you Ronnie, go take a shower and get rid of it."
"What scent?"
"You smell like sex and sin."
"Go wash it or else I'll do it for you."
"Where are you even coming from?"
"I don't owe you any explanation."
He pushed me away gently.
"You're right, kid."
"You're not the fragile little kid I used to pick on back in Cordelia."
"I'm not a kid" I hissed back.
"Just because you've grown a few inches and you now have boobs doesn't make you a woman Ronnie."
He moved closer to me and whispered in my ear.
"In my eyes you'll always be a kid to me."
He winked at me and walked away.
I could feel the heat in my cheeks. I don't even understand how I fell in love with this jerk. He's nothing but a poser and a big bully.
RESMOND POV
Ronnie was the only girl I enjoyed tormenting but everytime I broke her for my own satisfaction something inside me got broken as well.
She was one feisty naughty girl back in Cordelia when we were still kids but everything seemed to change when she became older and I began to see her in a different light.
We shared our first kiss in my tree house. It was sloppy and perfect. The mere thought brought a smile to my lips.
But I was a selfish bastard. I didn't only want to be Ronnie's first kiss, I also wanted to be the first man to ever make her feel like a woman.
I wanted to be her first.
FLASHBACK
Our parents wandered off into the garden leaving Ronnie and I alone.
"Hi my name is Resmond but you can call me Res for short."
"I'm Ronnie."
She pouts her lips.
"Wanna play a game?"
"No."
She frowned at me.
"Why not?"
"Because I don't play with little kids."
She lets out a gasp.
"I don't like you Ron."
"My name isn't Ron you nit wit it's Ronnie if you're gonna say it then do it right."
I grinned at her.
"It's Ronnie," she mutters angrily.
I grab a popsicle licking it.
"Ron, whatever your name is, I really don't care."
Ron glared at me.
"Go play with kids around your age short stack."
She stomped on my foot.
I dropped my popsicle.
"What is wrong with you?!" I yelled furiously as the pain sliced through me.
She smiled at me as two dimples appeared on both of her cheeks.
"I believe that the term is called payback," she said coolly.
I hated this kid but my parents still made me act nice to her because she was like my little annoying sister.
She left the garden leaving me puzzled.
KACEY POV
Everything back home was tense between my mother and I even though Elijah came to visit us everything just felt awkward.
He stared at me in disbelief.
"You chose to have his baby? Even after everything he did to you."
"You keep forgetting one thing, Elijah this baby inside me is innocent, the only person I'm angry with is Liam."
"He doesn't deserve your forgiveness. Kacey when comes back in your life don't accept him."
"That man doesn't love you he only wants to pay with your emotions I mean look at what he's done he managed to make you dropout of college."
"You lost your scholarship because of the scandal he caused."
"Elijah stop acting that way I'll go back to college this isn't the end of the world."
"Alright then I'm just trying to look out for you Kacey."
"I know Elijah and you're a great friend."
"I have to go, my parents are making this huge lunch to celebrate my return. Why don't you come with me? It will be good if you get out of the house."
I shook my head negatively.
"No I'm good Elijah."
"Okay I'll see you later then since I'll be here until the next semester begins."
I nodded quietly.
"Alright."
Once Elijah was gone I slumped on the bed feeling exhausted. Over the past few days I had lost weight because of the constant vomiting. This journey to motherhood wasn't going to be easy. The doctor was definitely right.
The doorbell rang and I got out of bed and went to answer the door. I'm sure that it was Elijah, maybe he had forgotten to tell me something.
I opened the door and froze in place.
"Liam?"
He smiled at me.
"What are you doing here?"
"Kacey we need to talk."
I scoffed in annoyance.
"We have nothing to talk about so just leave before my mother gets back."
"I'm not leaving until we have a proper conversation."
"I don't want to waste your time so please just hear me out."
"Fine we can talk but not here. I don't want my mother to find you here."
He nodded quietly.
"Okay you can choose the location."
Liam and I found ourselves going for a walk. The path we took led to the woods where Elijah and I used to play hide and seek when we were little kids.
"I just want some answers from you Kacey so be honest with me."
"Sure."
"Why did you hide your identity from me? Was it because you knew who I was back then?"
" I couldn't tell you my identity because I had taken an oath to keep it a secret and the contract I had signed didn't allow me."
"Are you done asking the questions? Because I also want to ask you something as well.
"What is it?"
"Would you have accepted me if I wasn't Bambi in the first place?"
Liam remained silent and shrugged carelessly.
"You were attached to Bambi and not Kacey Simpson, the college girl that humiliated you."
"Kacey…"
"You don't have to explain anything to me."
I looked him in the eye.
"I forgot that a college nerd isn't exactly your type of woman."
"Amelia had warned me to stay away from you because she knew what type of man you were inside and out."
"I wished that I had believed her when she told me the kind of man you were before I made this mistake."
"I only regret falling in love with you."
Tears spilled down my cheeks.
Liam tried to touch me but I raised my hand stopping him.
"Don't touch me."
I wiped my tears away.
"I'll make things much easier for you by walking away first Liam because there's no else to discuss."
I walked away leaving Liam behind. I was even more devastated when he didn't try to stop me. He didn't deserve to know about the existence of our unborn baby because I didn't need his support or his money.
