Go With Her

*” I’m going and that is final. I have been to that house once before to get you a book will be much easier”*

**” You are crazy Selene besides it's not just me that you have to convince as if Calder is going to let you leave to go back there “**

*” He will do as he is told. There is no convincing me otherwise so you may as well stop trying. Our nephew could be in danger and we don’t even really know what from if going back to that house is our only option right now then I’m going”*

They continue to argue getting louder and louder but it is like going around in circles neither of them is going to admit the other is right even though they both have some valid points.

I don’t know what comes over me. My motor mouth seems to run away once more.

“I’ll go with her “

The three of them stop and stare. Artemis gets up from her seat and walks around to the back of the sofa, leaning on it and rubbing her head.

**” Great you’ve gone absolutely fucking nuts too. Is there something in the water is that it? Did you eat something funny ?”**

She looks between Selene and me as if we are from another planet.

“I’m not crazy, I know that house better than anyone here I can take her right to the library undetected”

**” Cynthia can you please check these two over I honestly think they are disturbed”**

Cynthia doesn’t move or say anything, she sits as still as a statue in her mind elsewhere. Selene and Artemis carry on bickering with one another but I can’t help but observe Cynth.

**”*I think they should go*”**

Artemis turns her gaze to Cynthia, a look of fury, her eyes flashing between brown and deep purple.

**” Are you joking?”**

**”*No I’m not joking I think they should go*”**

Artemis moves back around the sofa and Cynthia stands, the room falls silent and you could hear a pin drop.

Both of them are practically nose to nose. I feel a small tug on my arm and Selene pulls me back to stand up and move away from them with her.
I do so willingly as she keeps their eyes on the two of them.

*” You don’t want to be close when they explode they are Alphas but also sisters it’s not going to be pretty”*

Understanding fully what she means I retreat further back with her back to one of the long high bookshelves still keeping an eye on the two of them.

**” What on earth makes you think I’m going to agree to this, the two of them are staying and that’s final”**

**”*News flash Artemis they are both adults and can do whatever the hell they want*”**

**” It’s not about doing what they want! it’s about doing what’s safe and this isn’t. They could die “**

**”*Oh so it's fine for my newborn son to have a threat against his life and could die without them going but two adults can't make their own choice ?*”**

**” It’s not like that and you know it. If they go and get caught they could die and who knows what Salvi would do to the two of them. They both have powers beyond our own and you know just as well as I do she will exploit that “**

**”* But if they don’t go she could attack at any point and we won’t even fully know why. I mean for fuck sake Artemis we not even really sure why she just attacked us. You want to fight blind again*”**

This is getting heated fast. Selene wasn’t wrong. They are going head to head, each one of them standing their ground like a titan about to clash.

*” You know if we times this right we could leave the room now and plan this, I doubt they would even notice “*

Part of me wants to stay and hear them out. Both of them are making good points but Selene has a point I could leave now and they wouldn’t even notice.

Selene tugs on my arm lightly and ushers me to the door, I follow being careful not to make too much noise as the two of them continue to battle it out.

“Are they always like that ?”

*” You mean fighting, yeah they have been that way since we were small. I mean it’s understandable because we’re sisters but sometimes it can go a bit extreme with all of us. You know what I’m talking about though I mean.. You have a sister “*

She is right I do, but I cannot relate to anything she is saying. It's all completely alien to me. I barely remember Salvi if at all, it feels like those memories I do have, the ones she explained to me are sitting at the front of my mind because she told me about them not because I feel them.

“I don’t remember very much actually. Arlo wasn’t exactly hostess of the year so my mother and I learned to suppress a lot of feelings and with it, I guess I pushed back some memories as well”

*” You mean you don’t remember growing up with her or anything like that”*

“Not really no. Everything is just fuzzy when she told me about things it would become clearer but it was almost like I was seeing them just because she was explaining them”

She seems to be pondering my statement as we walk down the hall, I can see her itching to ask me a question like it’s on the tip of her tongue.

We round a corner and she pushes a door open. Stepping aside for me to enter first she closed the door behind us.

“You know I can feel you want to ask me something. Go ahead”

*” How do you know what she is saying is true if you don’t really have any memories “*

“That’s something I’ve thought about often and to be honest I don’t know, all I know is that I do feel tied to her in a way the same way I do with Artemis and even you and Cynthia. I know we are connected and I’m not sure why she would lie. What could she have to gain from that”

*” Well for a start she could get close to you. She could manipulate you into doing things for her”*

“Well we already know she is capable of that but why pretend to be my sister why not just another cousin ?”

*” I hear you but your relationship with your sisters is different. You can't tell them anything and trust them wholeheartedly in any situation. Did you feel that with her”*

I’m dying to say yes but in reality, the answer is no, I don't feel like I could trust her the more I learned about her and something seemed off.

“No, I didn’t feel that with her. As time went on I actually trusted her less and less”

Taking a seat in the chair opposite her desk she sits next to as opposed to her big desk chair. I can tell she still has a lot to ask even Savea is starting to stir her wolf, his pushing its way forward.

“Look I know we have not exactly seen eye to eye buy why don’t you just ask me all of the things you so clearly want to”

*” Well I didn’t want to overstep, your right we haven’t exactly been friends and I didn’t want you to think I was trying to pry into your life”*

“It’s fine to go ahead “

Her eyes glaze over for a second.
*” I ordered us some tea. Sybil will bring it along in a second. I hope you don’t mind. I have a lot of questions and you look like you could use a drink”*

“Sounds good. So let’s get started. What do you want to know?”

*” Well I guess my first question is what changed when you were with Salvi? I mean what made you decide you couldn’t trust her “*

“It wasn’t anyone thinks it was lots of little things. She would train me until I got so angry I had no choice but to let my power out. I got the feeling she wasn’t always being honest it felt like she was hiding something”

*” What do you mean ?”*

“Well, it was little things like how I wouldn’t see her for hours. But the weirdest one was her mate Ivar, I don’t know much about mates but I did know their love is unconditional. When I first met him he was super intense and I just figured that he was madly in love with her but as time went on he started acting weird. It was as if him I first met wasn’t the real him.”

*“Acting weird, like how ?”*

“Well he came into my room a few times or would corner me and ask me weird questions, his eyes would always flash between colours like he was having an inner battle. It was when I spoke to Ildi that I decided something was off, Ildi explained to me fully about meeting your mate and what it does to you and when I watched Ivar and Salvi I didn’t really see that “

*” So that’s why you left ?”*

“Partly I guess but it was mostly because I heard her talk to our father or someone she called father at least. I knew if she could keep a secret from me that was that big then she was capable of a lot more so I did the only thing I knew how. I ran, id doesn’t plan on coming here but something told me that Artemis would help me so I just kept going and well here we are.”


*” You mentioned your dad earlier but I thought he had died, are you saying he is alive ?”*

“In all honesty, I’m not sure. I think that’s one of the reasons why I ran I’m pretty sure he is dead”

*” Which begs the question who is the man she was talking to “*

“I’m sure we will found out soon enough “

A smirk spreads across her face as she stares at me.

*” Well what about if we kill birds with one stone? When we get the book we also try to find out who this mystery person is”*

“That seems dangerous I mean we are only supposed to be getting the book”

*” Come on you are telling me you don’t want to know who that person it, we are going to be there anyway we might as well just see “*

She has a point, although I ran away from it doesn’t make me any less curious. Truth be told I was desperate to find out if it really was my dad could be the only true connection I have left. Not just to my own family but my mother.

I'd love to hear him tell me stories about her, I'd beg for it in fact. I don’t know if it’s just me being reckless or if Selene is a bad influence.

“Okay, let’s do it.”

*” Wait really ?”*

“Yes. I mean no not if you don’t want to “

I can feel my heart practically beating out of my chest, maybe she was just joking and I’ve just agreed like an idiot.

*” No No I want to I’m just surprised to hear you agree, I thought I’d have more trouble convincing you”*

“Your bad influence must be rubbing off “

She laughs softly just as the door knocks, a kind-looking older woman walks in with a tray of tea and a plate full of french toast.

Selene thanks the woman as she left and then begins pouring tea while stacking slices of bread onto the two plates. As soon as she is satisfied with the amounts she turns to face me.

*” So then… How exactly are we going to get into that house ?”*
