chapter 16

Reese sleeps as Roman and Kat get to know one another. Sparks are flying between the two of them. Roman tries not to get too involved with humans when he can help it, but Kat is doing something to him that he can’t seem to pull away from.
As Roman and Kat continue to explore each other slowly with sweet kisses on the couch there is a knock on the door.
Knock Knock Knock
“Who could that be?” Roman grumbles as he leaves Kat to see who is at the door.
Roman licks his lips tasting the last kiss he got from Kat. “I am coming damn stop knocking,” Roman continues to grumble.
Roman opens the door to see Luca standing on the other side of the door.
“oh its you,” Roman says.

Luca stands at the door for a moment not saying a word at first. “I just want to talk to Reese,” he says.
“Well, she’s sleeping right now and upset and honestly probably not interested in speaking with you,” Roman says.
Luca sees Kat sitting on the couch. “Hey Kat, Is she okay?” Luca asks.
Kat scoffs at Luca. “What do you think?” she says.
“I am not sure Kat. That’s why I am here,” Luca says.
Kat gets up from the couch and walks to the open door where Luca is standing. Roman still hasn’t invited Luca into the apartment. “Luca you really need to think before you talk to her. You handled everything wrong. You hurt her feelings and really pissed her off. Hell you pissed me off. What you did was just wrong. Don’t you get that?” Kat says.
“Again that’s why I am here, Kat. I came to tell her how wrong I was and how sorry I am,” Luca says.
Kat rolls her eyes and walks away. Roman is not willing to let Luca in. He wants to protect Reese. At least he has Kat to back him up on this one and for that he is thankful.
“Roman who is at the door?” Roman hears a small voice coming from behind him. Reese was inquiring who it was.
“Its nobody they are leaving,” Roman says.
Roman begins to close the door.
“Its me Reese. I just want to talk,” Luca says.
Luca pushes the door open. Roman is getting visibly upset with Luca. “Man I am telling you, do not mess with her today,” Roman forcefully says as he closes the door.
“Roman let him in,” Reese says.
Reese puts her hand on Romans shoulder. “Its okay, Roman. I can handle myself,” Reese says.
Roman opens the door and lets Luca in. Luca walks past Roman and Kat. Neither say anything else. They let him in know without saying a word they are both not okay with him coming to see her.
“We can talk in my room, Luca,” Reese says.
Luca follows her into her room. “Say what you got to say and then leave,” Reese says.
“I was wrong. I was wrong in more ways than one. I shouldn’t have went off like I did. I shouldn’t have said what I said. And I should not have spied on you,” Luca says.
Luca tried to reach for Reese. She pulls away. “You can’t just come in here and think I will be okay with the way you acted,” Reese says.
“I am sorry. You did not have to quit. Every one loves you at the studio. If you can’t look at me I will stay away from the studio. I want you to know I am sorry and I don’t want you to leave your job because of me,” Luca says.
“Are you here to say you are sorry or are you here to get me to come back to work,” Reese asks.
“Both. I need to know you are okay and I want you to know you do not have to quit your job either,” Luca says.
“What about Thomas? Are you giving him his job back? Or is he fired?” Reese asks.
“If I hire him back will you forgive me then?” Luca asks.
Reese stands in front of Luca looking at him. She isn’t sure what to say to him.
“Thomas doesn’t deserve what you did either,” Reese says.
Luca reaches for Reese again. This time she falls into his arms. “I forgive you, but I cannot have you being this way. You don’t want me but you don’t want me to have anyone. That makes you a little bit crazy,” Reese says.
Luca pulls away from Reese. “It’s not that I don’t want to be with you, I just don’t know how to be with you and you being a vampire,” Luca says.
Reese backs further away from Luca. “You know, you cannot be this obsessed with me and trying to control me while looking down your nose at me for being a vampire. It is who I am!” Reese screams at him.
Luca stands in front of her stunned at what she is saying, but he knows it is true. He knows he has completely screwed up. Without thinking Luca grabs Reese and kisses her. She leans into him and lets him kiss her. She loves his touch. The way he makes her feel. Not another person on earth has every made her feel this way.
“I cant do this Luca,” Reese says.
Luca holds her. “I promise not to hurt you again,” Luca says.
“I’m not sure I can believe you,” Reese says.
“I understand,” Luca says.
Reese begins to cry as Luca holds her. “I cannot have you pulling me in and out. This is toxic and wrong. You either want me or you do not want me. It is simple,” Reese says.
Luca holds Reese. He doesn’t want to let her go. “I was wrong for letting you go,” he says.
Luca kisses Reese. He lets her go and begins to leave. “Don’t go. Just stay with me for a while,” she says.
Reese gets back into her bed and lies down. “I need sleep,” she says.
Luca joins her in the bed. He lies with her. Luca wraps his arms around her and holds her. “Sleep Reese, I will be here when you wake up,” Luca says.
