chapter 18

Reese wakes the next morning in bed alone. Luca is gone. She reaches for his side of the bed and finds a note with a single white rose. Reese opens the envelope containing the note.
*The company car is here; your keys, credit card and cell are on the bar. I will be by the studio to see you tonight. I will miss every moment we are apart*
Reese holds the note close to her and smiles. “I guess I am going back to work,” she says.
Reese gets out of bed and walks into the kitchen to fix her a smoothie. Kat and Roman are both in the kitchen.
“Hey guys,” Reese says.
The two of them are interlocked into each other. Roman cannot take his eyes off of Kat to even glance up at his sister.
“Hello sister. I already made your smoothie for you. It is in the refrigerator.” Roman says.
“Thanks. I am going back to work today so I am going to need Kat back,” Reese says.
“Yeah, I know. I have work to do and need to be heading out,” Roman says. He kisses Kat and leaves the kitchen to get dressed.
“Looks like you two are getting along well,” Reese says.
Kat blushes and smiles a school girl crush smile. “You know Reese sugar. There is something really special about that man,” Kat says.
“I am happy you and him are getting along. Who knows you could be the future ex-wife,” Reese says and laughs as she walks back to her bedroom with her smoothie.
Reese sits down on her bed and thinks about the situation with Kat. “I am going to have to tell her. I will take her out tonight alone and tell her about me and Roman,” Reese says.
Reese looks at her cell. One missed call from Luca. “I will call him on my way in to the studio,” she says.
She finishes her smoothie and begins to contemplate her day. She knows she will be behind since she wasn’t in the office yesterday. She grabs a skirt and top out of the closet and goes into the bathroom to shower and get dressed. She needs to hurry up and get to the studio, It is going to be a long day and an even longer night with Kat.
Reese gathers her things to leave. Roman has left and Kat is waiting for a ride to work. “I guess it’s me and you today Kitty Kat,” Reese says.
Kat smiles and follows Reese out of the apartment. “So you got all your amenities back?” Kat teases Reese.
Reese laughs. “Well, I guess. There is still a lot to work out. Like the fact he is way too obsessive over me. I cant deal with that,” Reese says.
“I have never seen him so crazy over someone Reese. I am telling you that man is in love and he has no idea how to handle it,” Kat says.
“Well Kitty Kat he is going to have to figure it out or lose me forever. I will not be under someone’s thumb. I need my space. Speaking of space, me and you are going out tonight as soon as the shoot is done,” Reese says.
“I told Roman I would meet him back here,” Kat says.
“And you will but first we need to have a chat, I will let both of the guys know,” Reese says.
Kat agrees and the two get in the car. “I hope you drive better than your brother,” Kat says.
“you got in the car with Roman. You must have a death wish. Where is your car? How did you get here?” Reese asks.
“I took a cab. I was drinking. I was not about to drive,” Kat says.
“Well, I do appreciate you coming to check on me and keeping my brother company. He can be a handful,” Reese says.
“Aww Reese. You are special to me. And Roman damn that was a bonus. He is a sweetheart,” Kat says.
“A sweetheart he can be,” Reese says.
The two pull into the studio and park. “Does everyone know I quit?” Reese asks.
“No Luca told everyone you were really sick,” Kat says.
“What about Thomas?” Reese asks.
“Oh girl, He offered Thomas his job back but Thomas told him to fuck off,” Kat says.
“Oh damn. Well we need to fix that because I don’t think Luca can survive without a PA. You know you should apply to be his PA,” Reese says.
“No! Have you met our boss?” Kat says laughing at the idea of how difficult Luca can be.
“True,” Reese says.
The two ladies grab Reese’s things and head into the studio. They go straight back to Reese’s office to put her things away. “Before I help you unpack your stuff I got to know you’re not going to get mad and quit again,” Kat says.
“Nope I think I will stay,” Reese says.
Kat hugs Reese. “Good because I was going to quit and retire if you are leaving. I cant handle this job without you sugar,” Kat says.
The two of them continue unpacking her stuff and getting her office back in order. “We don’t have anything really on the docket for the day. I need to approve the script and budget. Early day for us,” Reese says.
Her phone rings. “Its Luca. He has called several times. I better answer it,” Reese says.
Kat leaves the office to give her privacy.
“Hello,” Reese says.
“Hey. I have been trying to call all morning. I wanted to check in on you and make sure you were okay,” Luca says.
“I am good Luca. I am just really busy. Listen I am taking Kat for a drink after work. We don’t have a lot to do here. I just have a few things to take care of,” Reese says.
“Okay. Want me to come with you two?” Luca asks.
“Luca, I have to tell her tonight. She is meeting Roman after unless she runs. I will meet you at my place after I talk to her,” Reese says.
“Okay I will bring dinner,” he says.
She could tell he was a little concerned but he understood. He was trying to not be obsessive over her and the feeling of wanting to be with her was overwhelming him.
“See you tonight,” Reese says and she hangs up the phone.
