chapter 19

Reese finishes up her paperwork. “I have one moment where I walk away and end up buried in paperwork. So much for an easy day,” Reese says.
Kat comes in dressed in all black. Her hair and makeup are perfect. “Wow hot mama!” Reese says.
“Well, you know. Seeing how I am going to see Roman tonight,” Kat says.
“First you are mine for the night girl,” Reese says.
“Did you talk to Roman and Luca?” Kat asks.
“Oh yeah, I told both of them we would meet up at my apartment but first we were going out for a girls night,” Reese says.
Kat sits down in the leather chair across from Reese’s desk. “So how did Mr. Possessive take it?” Kat asks.
“He said he would bring dinner to the apartment. Let’s just hope him and Roman get along?” Reese says.
“Yeah, Roman seems to be a little protective of his sister,” Kat says.
Reese logs out of her computer and stands up from her desk. She grabs her purse out of the right drawer. “You have no idea,” Reese says.
“Are we ready sugar?” Kat says.
“Yes, let’s go get a drink,” Reese says.
The two of them walk out of the building to Reese’s car. Reese hits the clicker to unlock it. Kat gets in the passenger side and Reese in the driver. “Why don’t we drop your car off at the apartment and call a cab” Kat suggests.
“Good idea. Call the uber now. So it will be waiting on us,” Reese says.
The two head toward her apartment. It’s a short drive. Perks of living close to work. “Joe will be picking us up in front of the apartment in 15 minutes,” Kat says.
“Cool, that should be just enough time to get gone before the boys see us,” Reese says.
Reese drives straight to the apartment and parks with five minutes to spare. The two ladies walk down to the front of the building. As the two reach the front she sees Luca’s car.
“Why is he here so early?” Reese says.
She waves at him and gets into the uber. The two ladies get into the back of the uber. Luca sees them and waves back. He immediately texts her.
*Have FUN*
“Well I guess he is okay,” Reese says as she shows the text the Kat.
“Roman text me earlier told me not to get in any trouble,” Kat laughed.
“To the R bar,” Reese says.
“They will not be looking for us there. Where did you tell them we were going?” Kat asks.
“I didn’t say,” Reese says.
“Oh. Roman did not ask. So I assumed you told him where we were going,” Kat says.
“Roman is not possessive, Kat. He is a very sweet guy. He gives space when needed. I told him I needed to talk to you tonight,” Reese says.
“I see. You’re not upset about me seeing your brother are you? I mean it was just one night and it may not go anywhere,” Kat says.
“No, I am fine with it. I just need to tell you some things, but first we need alcohol,” Reese says.
“Okay,” Kat says. Reese could tell she was worried.
“No worries Kitty Kat. Its nothing to get all worked up about. I want you to know some things about us and our family. That is all,” Reese says.
The uber pulls up to the R bar. Reese pays the driver and the two exit the car. The R bar is an old bar. Its been in the city for years. It has a unique theme. Its decorated with all of the history of the city for the last 500 years.
“I have always loved this bar,” Kat says.
“Me too,” Reese says.
The two ladies go in and sit in a booth toward the back of the bar. The bar is dim with little candles lit on the tables and around the bar. The walls are brick. The floors are old hard wood. The R bar has a rustic homey feel to it.
The waitress comes over to take their order.
“Two hurricanes and two shots of top shelf tequila,” Reese says.
“Sounds great,” the waitress says and walks away to get their drinks.
“So what is it you need to tell me away from everyone?” Kat says.
“Lets wait on the drinks,” Reese says.
“Great. Now I am terrified,” Kat says.
“Look, I am going to tell you something about me and Roman. You cannot tell anyone. If you can’t handle it that is fine, but I need to know that it goes nowhere. You are free to leave after I tell you. If you can’t handle it all I ask is that you tell Roman and be honest with him about it,” Reese says.
The waitress comes back with the drinks and the shots.
“Thanks you,” both ladies say.
“There is no really easy way to tell you. And before you ask this is why me and Luca had a falling out. He needed time to process it. I hope you don’t act as crazy as he did. I am still me and Roman is still Roman,” Reese says.
“Sugar, just spit it out. The suspense is making me crazy,” Kat says.
Reese and Kat both take the shots. Kat starts sipping her drink. Reese takes a deep breath. “Okay. Please don’t scream or anything,” Reese says.
“Okay,” Kat says.
“Roman and I are both vampires,” Reese says.
Kat sits in silence for a moment. The waitress comes back. “Can you just bring us a bottle of Titos?” Kat says.
“Are you okay?” Reese says.
Kat shifts in her seat. “Well, I knew it had to be something. Roman is too perfect to not have something to have to deal with,” Kat says.
“Are you still friends with me?” Reese says.
Kat reaches across the table and takes Reese’s hand. “Listen up Sugar, you are my friend. I don’t care what you are or what Roman is. I love you. I don’t understand everything about your kind but I love you and I am willing to work it out. Roman is intoxicating. Who knows. He may be fun or it may get serious. I will worry about that when the time comes. You are my friend. I will accept anything,” Kat says.
Reese is ecstatic. “I am so happy right now. For me and for Roman. I was afraid you would run,” Reese says.
“You should know me better,” Kat says.
“I guess so. Lets get drunk and make the boys pick us up in a couple of hours,” Reese says.
Kat laughs. The waitress brings the bottle and the two start pouring shots. “You text Roman and tell him to pick us up in two hours,” Reese says.
Kat pulls out her phone and sends Roman a text.
