CHAPTER FORTY

"What took you so long?" Hayley called out as me and the girl got into the car, I got in the passenger seat in the front as she got into the back.

"Its a long story but I want to go see Colby," I replied.

"is this to do with the twins?" She asked slowly ignoring the fact that a stranger got into the back seat of her car, I just nodded in agreement.

Chloe's P.O.V

"I forgot to ask you, your name earlier," I called to the back of the car.

"Oh right, my name is Silvia," she answered shyly.

Silvia had tired, emerald green eyes that sparkled like jewelry, and her long platinum blonde hair was up in a messy bun, she was around 5'4 and tanned sunkissed skin.

"That's a beautiful name," Hayley said as she drove on the highway.

"Thank you, I don't think I got either of yours though," she responded.

"Oh right, my name is Chloe," I responded.

"-And mine is Hayley," Hayley added.

"Nice to meet you both," she greeted.

"You too," I smiled, I've been meeting a lot of new people lately, it's been nice.

"So, Silvia, do you have a place to stay?" I asked.

"Yeah I have a small one bedroom apartment across town, it's not much but it's at least a roof over my head, you know?" She said awkwardly.

"Yeah I get it, you do what you have to," Hayley agreed, smiling looking at Silvia through the mirror.

"Did you pick a name for your baby yet?" I asked, smiling.

"Yeah, his name is going to be Oliver, Oli for short," she said smiling, that was the first time I saw her smile.

"That's a strong name," I acknowledged smiling back.

"It means descendant of the Ancestor," She explained.

"That's really cool that you put the energy into knowing the origin," Hayley said nodding

"It was my grandfather's name before he passed away last year," she replied.

"Aww that's so sweet," I said smiling.

"What about yours, what are you going to name the twins?" She asked.

I clutched the ultrasound pictures closer to my chest.

"I was thinking of Zayne and jade, but I haven't completely decided yet." I admitted.

"I like both of those names," she nodded.

We drove into the hospital's parking lot, it was quite full of cars today so it seems we are going to have a difficult time finding a parking spot.

"Wow, lots of people today," Silvia commented.

"Yeah seems that way, doesn't it?" Hayley said eyeing for a parking spot.

About 10 minutes later we finally find one and Hayley backs up and parks, taking off our seat belts we get out of the car and walk to the entrance.

A nurse that I recognize quickly walks over to us.

"Chloe right, you're here for Colby?" She asked.

"Yes, I'm here to see him," I replied.

"I'm sorry to tell you this but you can't see him right now, his body went into phylactic shock and is currently having a seizure. If you could take a seat once his body calms down we can let you know and I'll let you in to see him if his body keeps up." She said, placing a hand on my shoulder.

"A-A seizure?" I stuttered, I didn't know what that meant but it didn't sound good.

"It means his body is convulsing uncontrollably and for now all us doctors can do is make sure his heart doesn't stop." My chest hurt and suddenly I couldn't breathe.

Is this what a panic attack feels like?

"His heart could stop?" I repeated in a question.

"Chloe, hun let's go take a seat and wait. He will be fine but remember what the doctor said about staying away from stress," Hayley said rubbing my back as tears flowed down my cheeks.

A sob left my lips as Hayley and Silvia walked me to the sit down area.

"He will be okay, Chloe." Silvia said gently, trying to make me feel better.

"Silvia is right, we just have to let the doctors do their thing.

"I know," I muttered sadly.

I looked up at the TV, the five o'clock news was on.

"The murder for Lucey Andrew's still hasn't been able to find any suspects, if anyone has heard anything please call crime stoppers." I looked at Hayley as she quietly continued to watch the news.

We side glanced at each other, we knew we had to get this problem over with, the only issue is, how?

Saying I was scared would be an understatement at this point.

I could feel the twins moving and twisting in my stomach, a couple more months and I'll be able to hold them in my arms.

I have to stay strong, for them and for Colby.

It felt like we have been sitting here for hours waiting to hear back from the doctors.

"Chloe?" My eyes were closed but I already knew it's the doctor. I opened them and looked up at him.

"Yes?" I confirmed, worried.

"Colby is now stable if you want to come see him." He explained.

I sniffled and nodded.

I got up and followed the doctor to Colbys room, he held the door as I went in, he no longer had a tube going down his throat, but what was in place was an oxygen mask.

"He started to breathe on his own, and his vitals were getting better until he had gotten phylactic shock, we just have to keep a closer eye on him now." He replied.

I nodded as I walked over to Colby and sat next to him.

"What's the percentage of him waking up?" I asked, taking his hand.

"There's an eighty percent chance that he won't the longer he's in a coma the more of a chance of brain damage, but let's not focus on that. Let's just focus on the twenty percent shall we?" The doctor said with a kind smile.

I stifled back another sob and nodded.

"I'll leave the two of you alone for now," he said and walked out, closing the door behind him and leaving the two of us alone in silence other than the heart monitor beeping.

I took a look at his face. He looks like he's in so much pain, am I making him suffer, keeping him alive like this?

I placed a gentle kiss on his forehead as his heartbeat skipped a beat for a moment.

"I hope you wake up soon, Colby… I miss you," I whispered moving his growing matted hair away from his eyes.
