CHAPTER FIFTY-SIX(ii)

The streets filled with the sound of screeching tires and the smell of burning rubber, into the alley.
Three cars, a silver Nissan, a white Toyota and one I wasn't expecting, a red mustang.
The red mustang was my brothers and that didn't make sense to me.
I stopped just short enough not to hit the Nissan, and two men came out.
Camino, and Dee.
The two out of three triplets that worked for my father, the only difference between the three is that Camino has a deep scar straight across his chubby face.
He came up to my window and I rolled it down.
"Damn it Colby what the fuck are you driving?" Camino questioned as he spat chewing tobacco over his shoulder.
"Where are they Camino?" I asked, as I got out of the car.
"I don't know what you're talking about man." Camino says moving his tongue over his teeth getting off the sticky tobacco.
"You're a fucking lier." I hollard making my way to the abandoned unit behind him.
"We can't let you in Colby, boss's orders." Dee says placing a hand on my chest to stop me, which was a big mistake.
My fist pulled back and I punched him straight in the face with such force he nearly fell backwards.
I could hear Jason getting out of the car to help me as Camino came from behind me and tried to attack me but I quickly maneuvered around his punch and punched him in the stomach making him topple over.
Dee must have gotten back up because now he was on top of me holding me in a choke hold. "I don't know what the fuck is going on but you need to calm down."
I quickly got out of his hold and pushed him off me.
"They aren't here, Colby." My brother's voice came before the sound of a slamming door.
"Jasper?" Jason's voice was raspy as if all the air in his lungs just deflated.
"What the fuck would you know about it Jasper?" I yelled, my face was red from anger and I'm close to beating everyone here to death.
"We can talk, but not here." He nodded towards the building, and I took a deep breath.
"Fine." I said gesturing that he leads the way.
"He can't go in there, Jasp." Camino huffed.
Jasper raised a silencing hand. "It's fine he's been in there before."
"Yeah, but.-" Dee attempted to comment.
"Jason, Colby, come on, we need to talk." Jasper orders ignoring the two ignorant bastards looking dumbfounded.
I followed without hesitation and Jason quickened his pace to match mine as we made our way through the large metal door and let it slam closed.
"You're going to blow my cover before I get any information. I can't do anything if they know why I decided to work again." Jasper said calmly as he turned to face us.
"Maybe you should let us in on your plan then, Jasper." I say through gritted teeth.
"I tried! I called Jason at least a dozen times, but they all went to voicemail." Jasper's voice hinted at annoyance.
Jason pulled his phone from his pocket to indeed confirm he tried to call, in fact a total of thirty-four times. "I didn't get any of these."
"How did you know what I was looking for?" I asked suspiciously.
"Mom got a call from the infirmary confirming the birth of a woman whose identity was unknown with twins, she tied it all together, that's when dad and mom left to put the plan in motion." Jasper explained placing a smoke between his lips.
"Okay and do you know anything about their plan?" I questioned taking a lighter from my pocket and clicking the propane to light his cigarette.
"All I know is that they were planning on going east of the city, something about teaching you an important lesson." He says, deeply inhaling.
"East, why would they go east?" Jason questions thinking out loud.
Jasper stared at me waiting for me to make the connection. "Flora."
Jasper nodded as he exhaled. "That is basically across the country how would they…" I trailed off because in the back of my mind I knew how.
"Flora is our grandmother, our dad's mother, but she's as tough as nails. That's where we were raised for a few years when our parents were on the run." Jasper explained to Jason as I tried to think of the fastest way to get there.
"So what do we do?" Jason asked nervously.
"We gotta drive, now. Knowing they took a jet up there, Dad knows I'm after them which means they are waiting." I say turning around and going back out the door.
"Hold on a minute." Jasper pulled me back to face him. "If you go directly there they will think I had something to do with it, we have to be smart about this."
"Jasper, I'm going to be honest with you. I really don't give a fuck." I pulled away and walked out the door with Jason following behind me slowly.
"You wanna fight again, I'll be sure to put you down this time." Camino snickered, but I ignored him getting back into the car.
"In all seriousness, I hope you find whatever it is you're looking for." Dee says standing taller than the car, his hand tapping the roof as I nodded and Jason got in the car and we drove off.
We sat in the car in silence as the only sound was the car driving against concrete and nothing but trees and houses whizzing by.
“The two of you weren’t very lovey dovey when we all met up.” I say breaking the prolonged silence.
“I guess we weren’t.” Jason says with a slow sigh, I could tell something was bothering him but I didn’t really want to pry.
“Did you know he was trying to call you when we were at the hospital?” I asked, glancing at him in the corner of my eye.
“That’s the thing, I haven't gotten any calls from Jasper since the night he left.” He mentions, keeping his eyes outside the passenger window.
“Are you saying he was lying?” I question defensively, it’s not wrong for me to stick my neck out for my brother.
“You can look through my phone if you want proof.” he says, annoyed slowly entering his tone.
“Why would he say he did then?” I mostly ask myself, and another question is why was Jasper so distant if they were together.
“Did the two of you get into a fight or something?” I continued to round off questions.
“No, in fact it was the opposite, in fact that was the night he told me he loved me. Besides, why do you care, you seemed as much against it as my parents were.” He asked defiantly.
“I’m…” I sighed before continuing. “I’m not against it, it just doesn’t make sense to me.” I admitted, chewing on the inside of my cheek and shifting my weight in the driver's seat.
“What, you don’t understand how two guys can love each other?” He scoffs, shaking his head unbelievably.
“No, that Jasper can be… Gay.” I prolonged the sentence then needed.
It’s not that gay people make me uncomfortable or anything, but with my brothers past, with all the things he’s done to gay people, imagining him that way is nearly impossible.
“Why, because he’s ‘your’ brother?” He rolls his eyes, and I can tell this probably won’t get anywhere.
“No, not at all. We have a long drive so I guess I can tell you the history of why it sounds brutally unrealistic.” I reply, taking another cigarette from the glove box.
“Alright.” He sounded unsure, gulping nothing but air into his lungs.
“When we were kids, everything and anything that was considered ‘Masculine’ was forced into us as kids, but thats not the reason, when he was thirteen a group of kids from his school called him gay, y’know they wanted to get under his skin, beingb secretly in the gang he waited for them after school, no one knew what he was planning, not even me.” I began the story.
