CHAPTER SIXTY-THREE
Chloe's p.o.v
A part of me knew, the last I know the better but not knowing was slowly driving me crazy.
“Chloe dear, you must calm down.” My mother says sitting on the edge of the couch in our livingroom.
Hayley was in the kitchen making tea, I on the other hand is pacing the room, I told the police half truths meaning they were also half lies and thinking about that is making me anxious.
“I can’t.” I say biting the nail on my thumb.
“Okay but can you at least sit down, you gave birth only six hours ago, if you keep pacing like this you will rip your stitches.
“I don’t care about the stitches, I care about my family coming back safe.” I realized I said that more harshly then I intended, so I sat down in the chair beside the coffee table.
“I know how terrifying this is, your father didn’t want to wait for the police to bring you home either.” She says softly.
I looked down and bit my lower lip before speaking. “Why did you?”
“We had your brother to care for too, we couldn’t leave him alone he was only three, Chloe.” She explained her hands clasped together on her lap.
“Right now; Jason is out there too, what if he doesn’t come back.” They both looked at each other for a moment.
“What, your not worried at all.” I asked, the annoyance becoming obvious, and Hayley was holding to mugs of scolding hot tea.
“Hayley, you didn’t tell her about Jason?” She sighed taking one of the mugs and placing it next to her on a coaster on the side table.
“I never really had the thought to, I guess.” Hayley shrugged passing my father the next mug and returning to the kitchen for the next ones.
“Really of all you guys got yourselves into and you hadn’t had one thought to?” My mother raised an eyebrow.
“Can you just tell me I really don’t feel like playing guessing games when my children aren’t safe.” I replied bitterly.
“Two years ago Jason was thinking about joining the military, he joined this training segment for the summer, he knows basic hand to hand combat and disarming, pretty damn good at it too.” Dad says while taking a sip of his tea.
“I think we are more worried about your boyfriend dear; he just git out of the hospital and he’s already storming the front gates.” My mother says leaning over and patting my hand.
“Now that doesn’t sound smart to me, he should just let Jason handle it.” My father put in while shaking his head.
“It’s his family, and as hard as it may be, its his children too.” I commented taking my own tea from Hayley as she sits next to me.
“He didn’t seem to care when he was driving that car earlier.” He mutters.
I didn’t say anything else because now I am getting angry, but I’m not sure if I am angry that hes being insulted or angry because what he says is partially true, if only Colby had slowed down, maybe I would be holding my babies in my arms right now.
Thinking about what could have happened doesn’t change what is, right now, all I can do is hope and pray that Colby and Jason get to them in time before they leave the country, or worse get back at me and kill them instead.
My stomach feels sick and twisted, like at any moment my heart could stop or get ill.
My head bows into my hands and I take a shallow breath with my eyes closed.
“I’m sorry Chloe, I shouldn’t have said that.” He sighs.
I sat up again wiping the unshed tears from my eyes and shook my head. “It’s fine.”
“Even with Jason and your sister, I was never really good at explaining my emotions and as much as I am worried I can’t help but be angry or blame Colby, because if I can’t blame him, who can I blame?” He questions looking down at my feet rather then my gaze.
“You can be mad at Allastair, he’s the one who took them and if they make it in time, that will be all finished today.” I say with poison trickling into my words.
“What is your plan Chloe, what exactly are they going to do?” My mother asked solemnly, apart of me knows she knows exactly what their plan is, but the less she knows is better, I stayed quiet and eyed Hayley sitting in the seat against the far wall she took a sip of her coffee.
“Are… they… going, to kill him?” she asked pausing between each word.
I continued to say nothing but the silence was enough of an answer for her.
“Chloe they will end up in jail.” she raised her voice.
“Illegalities are no longer a concern, having the gold knives is worse than being on the run, trust me on that, they will not stop until their paper trail is all gone and buried. This, is our only option.” I say leaning closer, whispering as if anyone else may be listening.
She pursed her lips in a unapproving frown. “Jason is not a murderer.”
“There is a lot more to your son than your aware of then him being gay. He will be fine.” Hayley piped in placing her coffee on a coaster on the side table, we never really used them before but she wanted to look hospitable.
“Well why don’t you tell me then Hayley. Just who is my son?” She glared at Hayley with piercing eyes.
“That is for him to tell you when he gets back.” Hayley says.
Colby’s P.O.V
Jason snuck ahead staying close to the walls in case he needs to hide for cover, we stepped quietly because now we definitely know we are in the right place.
I could hear two others walking this way down the abandoned street, forcing Jason to abruptly stop and wait for them to pass.
“We haven’t heard from pacco for ten minutes, do you think Colby got through?”
“Either that or left because of Freddie, that guy isn’t much for patience.”
“Me and the other guys got a bet goin, I say that Pacco won’t last an hour, the other guy says he won’t last two.”
“In any case, we need to keep a look out Colby is more trained then any of us.”
I rolled my eyes, the only reason I know more then them is because I had no choice but to train, I am the leaders son, its my job to be an example.
They finally continued on their way, the more quiet we get through the less attention we will bring.
Once they turned the corner we quickly walked in the opposite direction, but Jason was walking too fast but I heard someone around the corner.
I quickly pulled Jason back and into the nearest abandoned store.
