Chapter15 Day of Wedding
I blinked infrequently, looking around at the beautifully decorated church, graced with light saffron and white roses.
It's so beautiful. Why not? After all, it's God's home.
But my smile fell and I clasped my hands over my chest when I realised that soon I was going to marry the devil himself.
I'm going to marry Zuriel soon.
Biting my lips, I looked around to find something to focus on. I can't even believe that I am being married to Zuriel. My biggest nightmare came true today.
Four hours before,
Flashback
"Running away from your own wedding," I gulped down but didn't turn back. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out of it.
But, the truth can never be hidden. It's like a ray of the sun. We can never keep the truth in the dark. This thing that I ran away from my wedding will be bound to be revealed sooner or later. Why not today?
Let it happen now. It's simple. If I don't want to marry him, then I won't. No one can force me to marry him against my will.
I turn around, touching my fingertips together.
"Uncle, I can't marry Zuriel Richardson, not in this life and never will," I said, looking straight in his eyes.
He sighed, looking at the floor, and approached me.
I took a step back, frowning at him.
"Why him, Uncle?" I yelled, flinging my hands in the air.
He sighed and shook his head.
"Listen, it's your life. I'm no one to interfere, but you're my sister's daughter, my third daughter. I will." "Always wish your best," he said, stepping backward.
"Then why do you want me to marry him? You know how much I despise Zuriel Richardson," I said, tossing my duffle bag aside and clasping my hands loosely behind my back.
"We are going to be bankrupt soon," he sighed, sitting on the couch looking at the floor while his arms hung loosely on the sides.
I clamped my hand over my mouth. It felt like someone had just thrown a cold bucket of water over my head. I blinked several times at what he was saying. Did I hear right, or did I mishear him?
I blocked several times. Gulping, I quickly took the water bottle sitting beside the night stand and quickly drank the whole thing in one sip.
"I... I don't understand. What does it mean?" I tried to speak, but I stumbled backward.
He closed his eyes and looked at me. His chin trembled, "Yes, it's true,"
I tried to speak, but it appears that I have lost my ability to do so.
"I'm sorry Bri, I really don't want to burden you, but I don't have an option either. It's the truth, it's up to you now," he sighed heavily.
"Does this mean we can host a mansion, that mansion, which is the last memory I have of my parents, and with that, we can lose the company, for which my father worked so hard?" I fell to my knees.
I looked around, trying to figure out something. Maybe I could ask for a loan from a bank, but no, they can't give me a loan as my company was on the verge of bankruptcy. Then I could ask someone for help, but then, how can I do that?
I've never and will never ask for help from someone, especially a financial one.
Never!
But then what will I do now? How can I solve this problem? bank loan No, ask for help keeping aside your pride and self-respect. Then what
I put my hands over my face, my shoulders hunched.
I just want this earth to swallow me, let this fucking life end. What is the use of this life now? I'm a loser since childhood, very poor in studies, then I also earth poor in business, which my dad wanted me to run, but today I failed him. Today I failed my dad.
But still, not everything is over yet. I can marry Zuriel, to have my company, my mansion, which is the last memory of my parents. It has memories I spent with my parents.
I looked at my Uncle
"But will Zuriel help us? I mean, he hates me, then why?" I asked while tilting my head to the side and pursing my lips.
"Make him fall in love with you," my uncle said to me, looking into my eyes.
I shook my head. "It is never going to happen. He never wanted me either. He hates me and is only trying because of his father's insistence. We can't even breathe in a single room. Not happening," I said while my mouth was closed.
slackened
But by trying him, it will strengthen our position in the business world. The shareholders who backed down from the company can come back if you marry Zuriel, as you will be his wife, and trust me, Brielle, only the name of Richardson is enough to convert all losses into profit,"
"H...How k don't understand," I stammered, swallowing.
What if I lose my dad's company and our mansion in real life? It will break me more.
"You will have the name Richardson after your marriage with Zuriel, and as I told you, just the name Richardson is enough to convert all the losses into profit.
Flashback over
I swallowed and gripped the arm of my brother, Ivaan.
Ivaan is the one who will be walking me down the aisle, as he is my brother. My grandpa and uncle can also do it, but seeing my bond with Ivaan, they have decided he will walk me down the aisle.
"I hate to let you marry him," Ivaan said, while his jaw was clenched.
I looked down at the floor. One thing which I love about my brother is that he understands me more than I do myself.
"What are you both doing? Come on, everyone is waiting for the bride to be entered," my aunt said to us.
I dragged myself while tightly holding the arm of Ivaan. It's bound to happen. I tried my best, but it's too late now.
It's too late to back out of this marriage; I can't afford to lose my mansion to the company that my father worked so hard to build.
I quickly closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and shook my head to block all the unwanted thoughts.
Finally, we entered in church, I shivered when I saw, not much but there are some people around, Mr.Jared Richardson, Zuriel's dad smiled at me and passed me thumbs up
And I just don't know, but my chest felt so light, and I felt all the coldness fading away from my body, as if I'd seen sunshine after spending a very long time in the winter.
I was impressed by Mr. Jarred Richardson. He is one of the most precious and kind-hearted people I ever met. Besides him, a beautiful lady was standing by, of course, Zuriel's mother.
She was smiling so widely looking at me. She nodded at me and mouthed something to me.
I tilted my back, not understanding what she was trying to tell me.
