Chapter27 His Best Friend

Shit.
I chose to ignore it. What if he tried something else? I don't even have my pepper spray with me and there wasn't even any houses around I could ask for help. I started to pick up the pace.
"I will pay you twice."
"Get lost." I managed to say between my clattering teeth.
"Okay I will pay you thrice." This sentence made me rile up. I turned around and the driver stopped the car immediately.
"Listen you desperate prick... just go away." I cut my sentence when I realised it was Zuriel's friend, Samuel, who was grinning at me
He leaned over the passenger side and opened the door. He gestured me to sit inside. I stared at him not knowing what to do. He is after all his friend that I barely know but looking at the situation I was in I couldn't decline either. There was no sign of any other transportation.
"Thank you but I will manage." I replied him politely.
He laughed at me loudly. What the hell? My deathly glare managed to stop him laughing.
"He is right. You are stubborn, even in this situation." He smiled at me softly and gestured me to get inside.
I thought about the consequences. What harm will he really cause me? My dad trained me in kickboxing and he told me all the soft spots where it would hurt the most. After debating with myself I gave up and sat down. I felt uncomfortable sitting in his car with my current appearance but he didn't seem to care. As soon as I closed the door he turn the car heating on blast and swiftly moved his car.
"What happened earlier..." He tried speaking but I stopped him immediately.
"Don't," I warned him harshly. "I don't need anyone's justification. Please do me a favor and not talk about him because if you are going to then I am getting off." I told him and looked outside the window.
I heard him sigh but he didn't utter a word.
I don't want to go to Zuriel's mansion, I really think that, I just can't bear to see his face even for tonight
I quickly looked around but damm, my phone broke there at the restaurant
"Here," Samuel offered me his phone
I gladly took it with smiling little, at least someone is so understanding unlike that jerk, Zuriel
"I will go to my best friend's house, for tonight please drop me there," I said and told him the address
I quickly messaged Analia from his phone that I'm coming, to her house
I didn't remember her phone number, but I searched for her on Instagram and DM her from that
"You don't mind me using your Instagram," I muttered while placing his phone on the dashboard
He shook his head and glanced at me "nevermind, " he said and I nodded at him
"How did you even find me? And why did you come after me?" I asked him the question, which was bugging me the most. He looked over my side surprised at first but then gently smiled.
"What do you think?" He questioned me instead.
Zuriel. He must have told him to get me home from the time when I refused to get in his car. How thoughtful, I added sarcastically.
"Why?" I whispered wondering myself. I doubt if he heard it.
"I thought I was not allowed to talk about him." His voice was giving away the playfulness.
I rolled my eyes and I bit a smile
"Ha-ha, real funny," I added and he just chuckled.
We were again drowned in comfortable silence.
"He isn't how he seems. He has been through a lot that's why he made himself like this." He replied, his eyes never leaving the road.
That's new to me. What possibly has happened to him to make him such a jerk?
"Like what?" I asked curiously.
"It's not my place to answer this. All I can say is that don't take whatever he says to your heart. Half of the time he doesn't even realize how harsh he is being but trust me when I say this, he doesn't intend to say it." He glanced at me briefly.
"How can you say it? He is your friend after all." I bit back.
"Friend or no friend I wouldn't be chasing you if he didn't care or regret what he said to you earlier." His tone was serious.
This made me shut up completely. I suddenly felt exhausted. All I wanted to do was curl up in my bed, sleep, and never wake up. That's how tired I was. He is so confusing yet so infuriating at times I feel like every bone in my body snaps. Yet sometimes he is so mysterious and thoughtful that it makes me blink twice to make sure I am not dreaming. Even after what Samuel has told me I don't think I would care what happened or what made him this way after what he did to me. I'm not the reason why he is like this so I don't deserve to be his punching bag or a scapegoat. As we got closer to home, being the lady I am I offered him to come inside and I was stunned momentarily when he accepted it. I opened the door, only to be welcomed by Analia's sweet voice.
"Awww my baby is finally home. Uhm what the hell happened to you?" She greeted me wildly and widened her eyes taking in my appearance, moreover widening her eyes at Samuel who was staring at her amusingly.
"I told you to get the number not to bring them home." She hissed in my ear and I had to grin at that.
"Analia, Samuel. Samuel, Analia." I quickly introduced them and gripped her arm firmly stopping her from saying something incoherent.
I went upstairs not caring how awkward it must be for them two. As I was about to enter my room I saw my reflection in one of the mirror and grimaced at myself.
