Chapter16 Characterless
She quickly put her dominant hand open, thumb pointing at her chin and fingers pointing up.
I smiled widely and nodded at her.
She was saying to me that I looked so beautiful.
But, my smile fell when I looked at the front. My insides started tickling my stomach. I think I'm going to faint here.
Why the hell is he having this much effect on me? I was supposed to hate that man. From the depth of my heart, why the hell, my breath stopped whenever his brown eyes met mine. Even butterflies started tingling inside of me, making my body tremble so badly.
I saw his eyes smoulder with intensity, making my knees wobble. I could even feel my mouth flooding with moisture, but soon his eyes hardened when he saw Ivaan beside me. He called at Ivaan, and I looked aside. Ivaan's jaw was clenched with a sneer.
I'm sure I'm missing something. I mean, the way they both are glaring at each other while looking like they will break each other's bones.
But, if it's possible, I mean, they're strangers, then how come they already have so much hate for each other, and that day of the party also, when Zuriel was threatening me, he even told me that he would destroy Ivaan's career.
What does he mean by that? The way he took the name of Ivaan, a weird, strange feeling comes into me at the time that he hates my brother.
But most importantly, why?
I think they are both not strangers; they both know each other.
And, I also find Ivaan arguing with my uncle, his dad.
Why, and I noticed something, Ivaan never liked his father. They both became very distant from each other. And why, I mean, when I was small, he didn't have any problem with his dad, and hereafter, returned from San Francisco, I find this all
He is constantly arguing with his dad and all
I'm sure something must have happened here, which I don't know.
I have so many questions with no answers.
I was startled when a hand touched my waist.
I looked at Zuriel, we were already on alter, and Priest was about to start the vows
My breath stopped or almost caught in my throat. Why the hell am I feeling so weird and strange today?
It's not like I have something against this devil standing in front of me.
Soon to be my husband,
I murmured to him, slowly so that only he could hear me.
I gasped a little when he tightened his hold on my waist.
"Oh, it's not like I'm dying for you to love me. Trust me, I've seen many other girls, far far better than you," he whispered towards my ear.
Was this really happening? Will I soon be Mrs. Richardson? But only for the sake of the world; I know what I'm getting myself into with this loveless wedding.
The minister said to the guests, 'You can now be seated." All the guests with our family followed the request.
'Dearly beloved," he began, 'we are gathered here this evening to witness this man and woman join together in holy matrimony."
In the name of God, Mr.Zuriel Richardson, will you take Brielle Ashby as your wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish until death separates you?
"I do," Zuriel's words rang in my ears, making my heart pound like it was going to burst.
I just don't know what was happening around me. All I could feel was my ears getting so hot like I was near the fire.
I closed my eyes. "I do."
Roohi came forward, came forward and presented the rings.
She smiled cheekily and looked at me, passing me a thumbs up. I smiled forcefully at her, only if she knows what I'm going through.
I put Zuriel's ring on first, then he placed it on mine.
"Now, did anyone have any reservations about this marriage?" he asked, looking around the room.
Please ask me instead. I have a problem with this marriage. I'm almost married to this man now.
I glared at Zuriel, whose face was devoid of any emotions and very cold.
No one said anything, and he turned towards us.
"Since..,
Before he can speak,
"Stop this marriage," I snapped my head towards the source of the voice with everyone else.
When I saw who it was, I gasped and blinked quickly.
It's Lucas.
"This marriage can't happen, because of this woman," Lucas said, pointing at me, and I felt so speechless.
What the hell, he was trying to do. My hands are literally itching not to beat the crap out of him in front of everyone.
"Who let him in?" Zuriel's father, Mr. Jared Richardson, growled.
Then, I saw some guards running inside. They were about to grab Lucas, but he went towards Zuriel's front.
"Sir," he said, smirking, "I'm here to protect you and your family from that characterless woman."
And my body froze in place, my surroundings became blurred, and the voices around me abruptly stopped.
Zuriel's mom covered her mouth with her hand, wide-eyed, while Mr. Richardson looked at me shaking his head.
"What the hell are you saying?" I growled at him.
"What, did I say anything wrong? Oh wait, I was in the club that day. I forgot to ask you, did you like our lovemaking night at the club?" he smirked.
My fists were clenched, my blood seemed to be rushing through my veins, and I was about to approach him to give him peace of mind when he stumbled and fell backward as someone punched him so hard.
The thing which makes any eyes wide is that it's Zuriel. He's the one who punched him.
"How dare you call her characterless and insult her," he growled, grabbing his collar.
Pressing a fist to the mouth, I looked at Zuriel. I blinked again. Is this true?
Is Zuriel really fighting for me, for my honor? I rubbed my eyes as if to reaffirm what I was seeing.
Taking shaky breaths, I keep looking at Zuriel.
I never in my wildest dreams ever thought that Zuriel would ever do something for me, seeing his past behaviour with me. I thought he would be very happy seeing me getting tainted and embraced, but here
Everything went wrong; Zuriel was actually fighting for me, trying to keep me from embracemet.
"Wait, leave me, I have proof," Lucas cried out and quickly got away from Zuriel's grip before Zuriel could go and grab him again.
Lucas quickly ran away towards Mr. Jarred Richardson, Zuriel's dad, and pulled out some pictures from his pocket to show him.
"See the reality of this characterless girl," he said to Zuriel's dad and glanced at me with a side smirk.
