Attracted to him..

VIOLET

Three days had passed since the whole thing with Ryan broke out. The murmurs haven't completely faded but it died down a bit. The whispers and stares still lingers when I pass but Ashley had made it her mission to shut down any girl who dared glare at me for too long.

It was closing hours, and I walked with Ashley and Luke to the bus stop. The sun was low, casting long shadows over the courtyard, giving the place a calm atmosphere, even as students rushed around to get home.

"So, how's the project going for you, Vi?" Luke asked. He had only resumed school yesterday, but it felt like he never left

I hesitated, biting my lower lip before answering. "Well, it's going quite well," I said, though the truth was far from it. Apart from the day Ryan came to my room uninvited, we hadn’t met or even talked much about the project. But I had been brainstorming on my own, jotting down ideas and trying to work out the project structure.

“You've met with Ryan already?"

Luke raised an eyebrow, and for a split second, there was an emotion in his eyes that I couldn't quite place. But he was quick to mask it.

"Sort of..." I replied awkwardly. "We've talked about it, and he's been sharing some ideas over the phone."

Luke hummed, as if that explanation satisfied him, though Ashley shot me a knowing look. "You shouldn't have to do it all on your own, Vi. You two are supposed to work together."

Luke chuckled. "Funny coming from someone who sleeps through half of our work sessions," he teased, earning a sharp kick from Ashley.

I couldn't help but laugh at their playful bickering. They rarely went a day without fighting like this.

"Seriously though”Luke added, his expression softening. "Don’t do everything by yourself. If you need help, I’m always here." He gave me a warm smile, and for a moment, his dimple appeared, making his face lit up.

“Thanks Luke. I appreciate it." I smiled back

We soon reached the bus stop, and I waved goodbye as they headed off together, their banter continuing as they walked away. I stood there for a moment, watching them disappear into the distance before turning to head in my own direction.

Ryan had insisted on picking me up from school ever since the truth about us broke out, saying it would save me the stress of walking to our usual meeting spot. But I couldn’t go through another moment of being seen getting into his car. The stares were bad enough as it was—I didn’t need to make it worse by drawing more attention.

Ryan's car was already parked in the usual spot. I opened the door and got in without a word. The tension between us was still palpable but we ignored it.

The drive was quiet, like it always was. I put in my earbuds and let the music fill the silence as I stared out the window, my thoughts drifting while we headed home.

The house was just as silent as it had been for the past two days. Since our parents left for their honeymoon, it’s been only me and Ryan here. But he doesn't stay over for the night.

After dropping me off, he usually disappeared, leaving the house to me.I thought about asking Ashley to come over tonight, just for some company. But in the end, I decided against it. I’d always liked having time to myself.

Later that night, the house seemed more quiet and I couldn't sleep which made things worse.

The numbers on my clock darted from 11 a.m. to 11:05 a.m. My stomach made a loud angry growl at the same time.
After surviving on just cookies all day,it has finally stretched beyond limit and it's now rebelling.

It made another noise again.

It was literally too late to eat now but..What the hell. I couldn’t sleep anyway.

After a moment of contemplating,I finally tossed off my covers and walked out of my room

I flipped on the kitchen light and opened the fridge. My eyes scanned it until it landed on what I was looking for
Tuna salad! Yipee!

I set it down on the counter and began searching the cabinets for chocolate chips.

I kept opening and closing the cabinet doors but couldn't find them.

The cabinets were too high for me to see properly into them. Where could they…

“What are you looking for?”

My heart leaped at the unexpected voice, and I nearly jumped out of my skin.

Ryan leaned against the doorway, shirtless, and my eyes couldn’t help but wander across his toned chest and defined muscles. His abs rippled under the soft glow of the kitchen light. This man looked like he stepped straight out of some fitness magazine.

I swallowed hard, trying to keep my composure. "You scared me!" My voice quivered, still recovering from the shock of his sudden appearance.

"I didn’t expect you to be here." He drawled lazily.

Our eyes locked for a moment, and I could feel the heat rise to my face before they settled over me. I noticed a shift in his demeanor. His eyes, normally sharp green, darkened as they trailed over me, settling for a beat longer than I was comfortable with.

Then, I suddenly realized what I was wearing—a simple tank top and a pair of shorts, both more revealing than I would ever wear in front of him. I hadn't expected him to be home tonight, not with how he'd been staying out every night.

Holy shit!

My cheeks burned as I tugged at the hem of my top, trying to cover more of myself, though it was pointless.

Ryan’s gaze lingered for a moment longer before he walked toward me, his movements smooth and deliberate. He reached past me to open the cabinet above my head, his arm brushing against mine as he grabbed a bag of chocolate chips I hadn't seen before

"These?" he asked, his voice low

I nodded as I took the bag . "Thanks” I stepped back quickly to put some distance between us. My pulse was still racing, and I needed to breathe.

Part of me wanted to flee and escape to my room, but I couldn’t leave my food. Ryan walked past me, and I heard the fridge door open behind me, followed by the clink of silverware.I focused on the tuna salad and tried to ignore the urge to turn around. The silence between us grew thick, broken only by the occasional rustle of Ryan’s movements

Don't turn around

After some minutes,he slid past me and turned to leave . But before he walked out of the kitchen, he glanced over his shoulder, his eyes still lingering on me. "Don’t stay up too late, Violet."

And just like that, he disappeared back. Relief loosened the knot in my chest. My breath came out easier now that I had something to focus on other than my body’s unwilling reaction to his.
