Damien

" Are you alright, Aiza?" Emily asked, standing beside me and looking at me worried. I am alright but something feels different like I don't know how to describe it. I am overwhelmed, yes! I am nervous about something, Yes! I am excited about something, Yes! Everything is just jumbled inside me making me feel everything.

" Yeah! I am alright but I just don't know how to explain it but I am okay." I assured her. She gave me a side hug making me relax in her embrace.

" It's okay, I will always be with you and we are going to share a room too." She informed me excitedly. Seeing her so excited made me excited too to spend time with her and do things together as we were doing before she came here.

" I already gave our luggage to a worker and we have to be present in front of the king first. So let's go." She didn't tell me about this! I have never been in a court in front of so many people. I am going to embarrass myself in front of all people and I am sure of that.

" Don't worry, I will be beside you and you just have to answer what post you are going to join." It seems easy but I don't know if I will be able to utter a single word.

" Umm, okay! I guess I will manage." I gave her a nervous smile and entered the gates of the palace. I have not noticed in my confused state but most of the palace and roads seem empty, and only a small amount of people were seen here and there.

" Why does it look so empty?" I asked, looking around to see some maids and soldiers entering the palace and exiting it.

" It's like a night here is a day and daytime is at night. Demons/ devils sleep during the day and their day starts at night mostly but it depends." I nodded my head understanding.

" So, don't the devil king sleep during the day?" I asked, suddenly curious to know about him.

" He deals with other species too so he doesn't sleep during the day." I hummed and entered the palace. My eyes bulged out looking at the bright and magnificent interior of the palace. I have never been to a place this beautiful.

It's a large living room connected with a large dining room with never-ending chairs and a large table. There's a big couch or sofa or whatever it is called.

The two-way staircase is in the middle of the living room and dining room. I raised my head to see there are three floors connecting the staircase.

" Wow! It's so beautiful!" I complimented still not moving my eyes from the beauty in front of me.

" Yeah! I was the same when I first stepped foot inside the palace and let's wait and see what you will say about the gardens." We both laughed and took our steps towards the kitchen.

" First, we should meet Damien who is the right-hand man of the king's minister. He will tell us if the king is available or not and he will notify the court of our presence." We entered the large kitchen. The kitchen also looks empty but a man with muscles hunched over the kitchen counter and stuffing his face. I can't see his face properly as his back is facing us.

" Damien!" Emily called out to him and he turned toward us with his mouth full and wide eyes. I stifle my laughter seeing this grown man stuffing his face like a child and looking like a kid when gets caught eating something he shouldn't.

" H..Hey! Emily! How are you?" He asked, chewing his food and gulping it down. His brown eyes turned towards me and there was a frown on his forehead.

" I am good, How are you? And you are again in the kitchen stuffing your face!" She laughed at him to which he just shrugged and opened his mouth to answer.

" A wolf gotta eat to stay alive." A gasp left my mouth hearing him say that he is a wolf. It's not like I don't know that other species exist on earth but still, I have never encountered them.

" What? Did I say something funny or outrageous?" He narrowed his brown eyes at me to which I nodded my head frantically at him to not offend him on my first day here.

" I…Am sorry, I.. I…" Emily placed her hand on my shoulder and stopped me from talking. She squeezed my shoulder to assure me but I'm just so anxious that I may have offended him and I am going back to our coven.

" Stop it! Damien, She never encountered other species and she is just surprised and the scary look doesn't suit you so just drop it." She chuckled at his pout.

" Hmm, I thought I should scare her on her first day as an unforgettable welcome in the palace but you ruined it."

" Ugh, You and your crazy ideas." She shook his head, chuckling. Watching their interaction seems that they are friends but have that respect between them.

" You are Aiza, right?" He forwarded his hand towards me for a handshake. I hurriedly forwarded my hand to him.

" Yes, Iam Aiza Cromwell." The instant our hands touched I lost control over my body and head. I am again intruding inside someone's head without their permission.

I am seeing his childhood, his pack, and every other detail but I'm trying to not look deeper than I am doing now. I don't have any right to look at someone's memories. I saw a beautiful girl inside his head with him and they looked so much in love. I can see the first time they met and recognized each other as mates. I can feel their bond through this head.

" Aiza!"

"Aiza!"

I hear a distantly familiar voice calling my name. Urging me to snap out of it but I don't know how to do it.

" Aiza! Concentrate on getting out of his head. Just think about getting out of a door and I know you can do it." I can now hear the voice clearly and Lora is talking to me and guiding me on how to snap out of it.

I thought about a door and imagined myself opening it and stepping out of the door and it worked.

I opened my eyes and removed my hand from Damien's hand who stood there dumbfounded and angry. I am going to get kicked out of the palace now and I'm so sure about it.

I turned my head towards Emily who also looked shocked to the core and stood still not knowing what to do.

" I am so sorry, Damien! Aiza is my kind but she is gifted and she has the gift of looking into someone's head…" He didn't let her finish and we heard a loud growl from him which made me jump in fear.

" How dare she intrude into my head and look into my memories." His eyes started changing colors from Brown to golden making me shake in fear for my and Emily's life.

" Let me finish first, Damien! She doesn't know how to control it. It is not her fault, she is as confused and scared as hell and I am so sorry on behalf of her but she means no harm." Emily growled at him in anger too. She is overprotective like my brothers and I know she will defend me no matter what.

I hope I didn't make a big mistake that will cost Emily's job too. I should apologize for my behavior. I opened my mouth to apologize but I hear a feminine voice, it sounds feminine deep, and sultry but commands respect. Hearing the voice irked me and Lora and I don't know why.

" What is happening here?"
