Tiring Day

My day consisted of me helping Emily with the dress and us running in the garden to get roses to make lipsticks and cheek tints and some of the fruits and herbs to prepare face packs and other products.

" We need to go to Damien for the other products from the market," I called out to Emily who is filling her basket. She walked toward me with sweat trickling from her forehead.

" I am so sorry that you have to help me here too." I feel guilty that she was so tired from making the dress for the queen now she is helping with my work too.

" Stop it! I wanted to help you and I will get bored being alone in the room." I chuckled at her lame excuse and we both went to the room we decided to use to prepare the potions and products.

" I totally believe you!" We both laughed and put away the baskets and went outside to find Damien.

" Did you talk to him about it?" I asked her, she has met him when we come out of the king's chambers and asked him to get the other ingredients.

" Yeah, I gave him a written list and he may have them with him now." We started walking towards his office which I haven't seen yet.

" All the officers and people who work in the court have their own offices?" I asked, wanting to know. I should get to know everything about the people and the palace.

" Yeah, most of them have their offices and except the soldiers." I nodded my head at her making the information sink in.

" Is there any library around here? I hope I can get books on my situation." I voiced out my thoughts to her in the hopes of finding some answers and clues about my mate.

" Yeah, there is an old library somewhere. We can ask Damien and I am sure he will help us." She said turning around the corner and stopping in front of a door. This door didn't have dragons on it but a wolf carved onto it.

Emily knocked on the door and waited for Damien to let us in. Not even a second after her knocking we hear a faint "Come in".

We pushed the large doors open and entered, I was instantly hit by Damien's scent wafting through the room. He smells of pine and wood. He is so involved in his papers that he didn't raise his head to look who entered his room.

" Woah! Someone is so busy!" Emily joked walking into the office. I followed her and stood in front of him.

" Yeah, unlike someone." He playfully glared at us both.

" Okay, officer! Did you get the items I told you to?" She asked, to which Damien stood up from his chair and went towards a box.

" Yes, come here and check if all the items are in there or not." He signaled us to come forward.

" Hi, there! Aiza! How are you doing?" He acknowledged my presence at last making a blush creep up to my face. I don't know why I am blushing at his acknowledgment. I haven't seen him since the day he has seen me withering in pain on the ground.

" Hi, I am doing good. What about you?" I asked, giving him a small smile.

" I am doing great actually with all the work." He pointed towards his desk and rolled his eyes playfully.

" if you need any help then I can assist you. I used to help my dad back home." I don't know where those words come from but I am also surprised to hear them as much as he and Emily were surprised.

" I will keep your offer in my mind when I will get overwhelmed with the work." We both chuckled at that and I turned my head towards Emily to see her eyes narrowing at me suspiciously. I gave her an uneasy smile before turning my head.

" Umm, Damien! Can you please help us with something?" Emily asked making my head turn in her direction.

" Yes, what is it?" He asked, his thick brows dipping in confusion and his green-blue eyes narrowing. Why am I noticing his every action? I need to snap out of it. Whatever my head making up I just need to snap out of it.

" I have heard about the old library in the palace and Aiza needs the library to know about her situation. Can you please show us the way?" She batted her eyelashes at him innocently trying to charm him into accepting our request.

" Umm, I don't know! If anyone knows that you two sniffing even near the library then Quentin will hang you upside down." Hearing his name made my heart skip a beat and my breath quickens. I didn't know his name until the Queen said it but she used a short form that didn't suit his personality but hearing his name made something stir inside me.

" Please, Damien! I need to get answers and clues about who my mate is. I don't want to live in the dark and with the constant pain of his betrayal." I blurted out hurriedly trying to convince him. I don't want to be in pain and have to be so careful around people to not alert them or scare them off.

Ugh, don't you guys look at me with those puppy eyes! I will see if I can take you guys there but I can't promise anything." A big grin appeared on our faces and we thanked him before saying goodbye and exiting his office excitedly.

I hope he changes his heart and takes us to the library. I know the palace is so old and there have to be old books somewhere hiding secrets and answers to every puzzling question in our world. I just need to look for it and I will look for it even if I have to practically live in it.

Once we were in the room, I opened the box and pulled everything outside. First I need to make a face pack that will help to brighten the skin. I need some fruits, a portion that my grandma taught me, and some other ingredients.

I kept aside some oranges and papaya and pulled out the potion which I had with me but it's not much and I need to prepare more if the Queen likes it.

I cut the fruits and started chanting a spell that will dry them as I don't have time for them to dry naturally. From tomorrow I will start the process of drying things which will be made into powders and all. Once I am satisfied with the quantity I mixed everything.

I have to go to their chambers again where their scents make me feel nausea, and overwhelm me. I shook my head to get rid of all the thoughts and prepared myself to go.
