Chapter twenty
Shouldn't have told him that!... stupid... stupid... stupid!.
Those are the words that kept on ringing in Crystals head from the moment she had admitted her undying obsession for her stuck up bodyguard. She had no idea what had gotten into her but she cursed whatever it was.
Zero.
That's the exact number of times she had had eye contact with him since the gym. And that had been a whole day ago.
At the moment she was seated in her office going through some documents. And HE was standing by the door only a few feet away. She honestly wanted to die. She could just feel him challenging her to look at him.
But she chose to gladly lose that challenge. He must think she was a psycho.
She glanced at her phone and realised that it was almost an hour past the time she was supposed to leave. First time she dreaded going home. Her neck was starting to cramp up from staring out the window for so long.
She picked her purse and stood.
On normal days he would have already unlocked the door to let her through, but today he just stood there. And when she was closing in on the door, he shifted to stand in front of it.
"You done ignoring me? "Nick asked. He honestly just couldn't take it anymore. So they would settle it right then and there.
She gave him a quick one over before looking away.
" I don't know what you're talking about, " she said. Trying to sound confident and defiant.
She failed on both accounts.
" So you expect me to what?..... forget what you said? " he was purposely trying to make her uncomfortable.
Those words were ones which would be forever stuck to his memory.
He watched how she shifted from one foot to the other, then she tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. An action which he had come to associate with nervousness. Then she lifted her gaze and looked at him right in the eyes.
He liked it when she tried to act unaffected around him. All it did was prove just how affected she truly was.
" Actually yes, I wasn't thinking straight at the moment, " she lifted her chin up. Not missing how scrutinizing his gaze was.
" You're lying. " he casually stated.
Crystal had had enough. She was done with him and his stupid games. And she was going to give him a piece of her mind.
" Okay look !" she balled her fists and stiffened her spine. Raising her chin even higher to glare at him. He looked perfect standing there.
Dressed in his fitted black suit with his perfectly combed back dark hair. She recalled all the little moments of intimacy they had shared, then they were all replaced with the moments afterwards. When he would simply walk away and leave her there. Trying to figure out what was going on.
She thought of the best way to deliver her message. She wanted him to know that she was fed up of his mind games. If he wanted to mess with someone then he had to look for another victim.
She was not ready to be treated like a disposable object.
Nick waited patiently for her to talk.
