Chapter twenty three

CHELSEA'S PERSPECTIVE

Over the years I just saw in him the shadows until I finally saw things. I closed that sad chapter of my life.

I let go of Marcus and focused on getting better and finally fixing my broken life. Letting him go was a total nightmare I cried until all my tears finally dried up.

I felt like a living but one day I just snapped out of depression and focused on my future.

I grew up.

I worked out more often and took a lot of therapy. Talking to someone had helped me let of the anger and pain I was holding.

Maybe it wasn't just meant to be, I just accepted my fate.

TEN YEARS LATER

MARCUS'S POV

I stared at my reflection in the mirror and straightened my black tie.

A sly smile curved my lips.

Perfect.

When I glanced back at the bed Terra rolled in the silk sheets and revealed her naked back.

I normally don't have the women I got with share my bed but I had to make an acceptation for Terra.

She was too drunk and wasted.

Plus she wasn't that bad in bed seven organisms not bad for a girl who had no experience.

She'll probably be out for hours because it was certainly a long night.

I scanned my appearance one last time. Once I was satisfied with my look I went downstairs to have breakfast.

Over the years I had worked on making myself better and I finally did it.

But darkness was still a part of me.

Her betrayal only made stone hearted towards other women.
I always vented out all my anger and frustrations on them I liked hard and fast.

Enough to throw me over the edge.

Marine served my breakfast quitely and after she was done I dismissed her.

A quick blush crept her cheeks but I was not interested in her. But it also never stopped me from fucking her as well.

After all she was a pretty blonde but I loved brunettes especially with darker hair.

After having breakfast I dabbed the corners of my mouth with a white napkin.

"Marine clear the table I'm heading out for work."

I was about to leave when I heard the table being cleared. I stopped in the tracks and glazed over my shoulder.

"Make sure Terra leaves before I'm back home. I don't want to see her face and once she's gone burn the sheets and beddings from last night."

Marine nodded quietly and I left.

I opened the door to my black lamborghini and got inside.

Fuck I loved my life.

I turned on my favourite playlist.

Marvin opened the gate and I drove to work.

Woah, woah
Yeah
Sometimes we laugh and sometimes we cry, but I guess you know now, baby
I took a half and she took the whole thing, slow down, baby (baby)
We took a trip, now we on your block and it's like a ghost town, baby
Where do these niggas be at when they say they doin' all this and all that?
Tired of beefin' you bums, you can't even pay me enough to react
Been waking' up in the crib and sometimes I don't even know where I'm at
Please don't play that nigga songs in this party, I can't even listen to that
Anytime that I ran into somebody, it must be a victory lap, ayy
Shawty, come sit on my lap, ayy, they sayin' Drizzy just snap
Distance between us is not like a store, this isn't a closeable gap, ayy
I've seen some niggas attack and don't end up makin' it back
I know that they at the crib goin' crazy, down bad
What they had didn't last, damn, baby
Sometimes we laugh and sometimes we cry, but I guess you know now, baby
I took a half and she took the whole thing, slow down, baby (baby)
We took a trip, now we on your block and it's like a ghost town, baby
Where do these niggas be at when they say they doin' all this and all that?
I'm in the trenches, relax
Can you not play that lil' boy in the club?
'Cause we do not listen to rats
We in Atlanta, I buy her a wig, she tellin' me "Tae is the best"
Point at the nigga who act like a killer, but you only one from the 'net
I'm like DaBaby, I'm not just a rapper, you play with me, you gon' get stretched
Hmm-hmm, Ooh-oh
Bring Drake to the hood, surround Drake around Dracs
Even though I got a case, I'ma do what it take
And I never been embraced
And the money's hard to make
So I bet they on they face right now
I know that they at the crib goin' crazy, down bad
What they had didn't last, damn, baby
Sometimes we laugh and sometimes we cry, but I guess you know now, baby
I took a half and she took the whole thing, slow down, baby (baby)
We took a trip, now we on your block and it's like a ghost town, baby
Where do these niggas be at when they say they doin' all this and all that?
When he tell the story, that's not how it went
Know they be lyin', a hundred percent
Moved out the Ritz and forgot 'bout the Bent'
Valet just called me to tell me come get it
Knocked that boy off and I don't want no credit
If it was me, they wouldn't regret it
Left me for dead and now they wan' dead it, yeah
Heart is still beatin', my niggas still eatin'
Backyard, it look like the Garden of Eden
Pillow talk with 'em, she spillin' the tea
And then shawty came back and said she didn't mean it
It's hard to believe it
I know that they at the crib goin' crazy, down bad
What they had didn't last, damn, baby
Sometimes we laugh and sometimes we cry, but I guess you know now, baby
I took a half and she took the whole thing, slow down, baby (baby)
We took a trip, now we on your block and it's like a ghost town, baby
Where do these niggas be at when they say they doin' all this and all that?

Thirty minutes later I arrived at the empire. The letters boldly written as DEVON CORP.

I walked in and my staff froze and acknowledged me.

"Good morning sir" they all said robotically and I gave them a stern nod.

They scrambled to their feet and went back to their work.

I shoved my hands into my pockets and went to my office.

Once I reached the elevator I punched in the secret code and the doors opened instantly.

Once I reached on the fifthteenth floor the elevator dinged and opened.

I slumped on my black leather chair and tossed the magazine in the trash can beside.

"Marcus Devon is recognized as one of the richest billionaires in NYC. I was the first one but I never cared.

Reporters liked to do nothing but gossip.

My monthly net income is enough to care for half of the world but I liked to keep things to my standards.

A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts.

"Come in."

The knob slightly turned and a blonde walked in and closed the door behind her.

I needed to find a new assistant urgently so I was interviewing a few candidates.

She gave a small smile.

"Sit."

She nodded and slumped on the chair un lady like and I narrowed my eyes at her.
This was new.

"So what is your name?" I asked curiously.

"My name is Stephanie James."

I narrowed my eyes at her.

"Give me five reasons why I should hire you" I muttered coolly.

She smiled.

" Because I'm the full package sir."

"I'm compatible,honest and I don't beat around the bush and I'm beautiful."

" Get out."

Her eyes widened in shock as she buttoned her blouse.

" Now!"

She scrambled to her feet and ran out of the office in tears.

"Package my foot." I said between clenched teeth.

"Next!"
