Chapter forty nine

KELSEY POV

I was really glad to have such good friends like Jane and Sasha. Once we arrived at the wedding venue they all made sure to stay by my side.

I looked at the entrance wishing that it was getting married to Marcus and not that witch Tara. Maybe Marcus is blinded by her money if that's the case then I'm very disappointed in him.

"Are you going to be ok?" Jane asked curiously.

I nodded quietly.

"Yeah I want to do this Jane it's time I also move on and try to forget about Marcus."

Jane gave me a small smile and nodded.

I was really tired of getting asked the same question over and over again my answer also didn't change. My mind was already made up.

We walked into the church and I noticed Marcus standing at the altar. He looked very handsome in his black suit and our gaze lingered for a moment but I decided to break away and take my seat.

His eyes held many emotions but I didn't want to go deeper otherwise I would back out. Mr. Eden looked at me and back at Marcus I couldn't understand what he was thinking other way it made me feel really uncomfortable.

The wedding song began and Marcus focused his eyes on the entrance. Tara walked in wearing a very gorgeous wedding gown to clung to her perfect curves. She looked beautiful and it kinda made me feel a bit insecure.
She was prettier than me. I felt like a whale.

Mr. Eden made his way towards his daughter and hooked his arm in hers. They shared a small smile and he whispered something into her ear. She nodded quietly as they walked towards the altar.

This was really happening. I felt a lump forming in my throat Tara walked past me.

MARCUS POV

Once Tara and Mr. Eden arrived at the wedding altar I quickly noticed that Mr. Eden looked very uneasy like something was definitely bothering him.
I had a feeling that he was hiding something.

But what could it be?

Our eyes locked in a frenzy.

"Take care of my daughter Marcus, she's everything to me," he muttered quietly.

Tara smiled under the veil and I frowned at her. My life was being ruined and she was happy this was truly unbelievable.

Mr. Eden shook hands and he engulfed me in a surprising hug.

"I know you're miserable but could you at least act like a happy groom" Mr. Eden said quietly.

I scoffed furiously.

"I'm not your slave."

He released me and spared one last glance at me. And honestly I didn't give a fuck.

Before the wedding ceremony began the priest asked everyone if there was a person against this wedding they should speak up.
But no one spoke up.
My gaze lingered on Kelsey hoping that at least she would say something.
But of course she was silent.

The priest blessed us and the wedding vows began.

Tara insisted on going first. She had personally written her own vows If she honestly thought that this marriage thing was going to work between us then she was wrong.

TARA POV

"I come here freely and without reservation to give myself to you and so that we may join your life and mine."

"I know I will not always be what you want me to be. I might forget to listen or forget to share. I might not always agree. I might be stubborn and I might be wrongheaded, but I will always love you. I will always strive to be the woman you believe I can be."

"I can't promise to love you perfectly, but I will love you messily, overwhelmingly, inexorably."

"Without you I am nothing - with you I am more than myself."

"You are loved more than any metaphor can ever try to express."

"There will never be two who love greater than you and I. I am so excited to spend the rest of our lives together."

"You are my favorite person, my lover, and my friend. I cherish you above all others."

"When I am with you everything else is moved into the background. You flood my senses. You are my life, my greatest gift, and my loving husband."

"I vow to always protect you from harm, to stand with you against your troubles, and look to you when I need protection".

"Here stands my friend, my beloved, and my true soul's companion."

"I give you the best of me, my heart, my soul, forever."

"With this ring I take thee to be my husband, I pledge my troth and enter into the holy bonds of matrimony."

She slid the gold wedding band on my finger and my chest tightened painfully.
Tara made some promises to me and slipped the gold wedding band on my finger. The guests cheered excitedly.

MARCUS POV

It was now my turn and I didn't even bother to prepare any wedding vows especially for someone I didn't even love.

I swallowed hard and began making promises that I'll never fulfill to Tara.

The priest saved me when he told me to repeat after him just like the old fashioned way and I was grateful he saved me from the embarrassment.

I kept looking at the ring.

KELSEY POV

He made promises to her. He was going to love her forever. I began to regret coming here in the first place. This was just a mistake. The pain I was feeling inside was just too much.
My little baby didn't stop kicking either; it must have felt my distress. I wasn't that strong enough. I couldn't stay and watch everything until the end.
I had to get out of here before I broke down crying in front of everyone.

MARCUS POV

When I got the ring Kelsey immediately got up from her seat and started to walk away.

Tara kept talking to me but my attention was on Kelsey.
It was clear that this was hurting her deeply.

"Kelsey wait!" A voice called when I looked up it was Mr. Eden.

Kelsey turned around and faced him.

"This wedding can't take place."

Tara immediately left the altar.

She grabbed her father's hand and frowned at him.

"Why not?!" She demanded angrily and then glared at Kelsey.

"It's because of her right?!" She snapped furiously while pointing at Kelsey.

Everyone in the church began to murmur among themselves. The media kept taking videos and pictures of the drama.

Mr. Eden sighed deeply and stood by Tara's side. I needed to know what the heck was going on.

"You can't get married to Marcus because he's your brother."

What???
