Chapter forty six
KELSEY POV
I was waiting for Max to come pick me up but he was taking a bit long this time and suddenly it began pouring outside. I didn't even bring an umbrella damn it.
I saw Marcus coming towards me and panicked. I couldn't let him see me now and walked into the rain to try and escape him but he kept following me.
"Kelsey wait!" I Marcus yells as he runs after me. The both of us were already soaking wet. He eventually caught up with me and held me by the wrist, stopping me midway.
"Please just listen to what I have to say..." He pleaded.
Anger flashed in my eyes but I nodded anyway.
I've loved Marcus since childhood and I want him in my life more than ever but the different circumstances keep getting in the way, always stopping us from reuniting. His fists clenched, hands shoved into his pockets. Brows brought together, jaws clenched. I felt a magnetic pull between us. Our foreheads pressed together, our lips brushed, just barely until I pulled away with a shaky exhale burying my face in the crook of his neck.
"You're getting married tomorrow Marcus it won't work between us..." I said softly I placed his hand on my baby bump. The baby kicked inside me and I swear I heard Marcus gasp.
His eyes met mine intensely sending a shiver down my spine.
Sasha and Jane were right Marcus deserved to know the truth because it was our baby.
Tears burned my eyes. I can't believe that this was finally happening.
"You're pregnant?" He rasped quietly
MARCUS POV
Kelsey didn't say anything she just nodded quietly while I was still recovering from the shock.
I felt the outline of her baby bump and it was big how long was she? I wondered curiously.
Her eyes met mine. She was in tears.
"It's our child Marcus but you've lost the both of us..." She says sadly.
What?
She was carrying my child and she didn't say a single word. What kind of woman does that?
I frowned at her.
" Is that why you asked for the two weeks to live? I asked curiously.
"Yes," Kelsey said softly.
Shit.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier? I demanded angrily.
She scoffed.
"You were too busy fucking Tara and besides you're freaking engaged Marcus what did you expect me to do!" She yells angrily.
I tried to calm myself down.
She tried to walk away from me but I stopped her because this wasn't over.
I pulled her closer and kissed her forehead for the last time she pulled back breathlessly.
"Max told me everything you did" she says quietly.
Shit.
"Kelsey I'm sorry just try to understand I did all this because…" I couldn't let the words leave my mouth.
Her eyes met mine as she gave me a disappointed look.
"Because what Marcus?" She demanded tearfully. Making her cry was never my intention and it made me feel like a total jerk.
"You ruined my life Marcus in your own fucked up away. You know when Max told me that you're the one who purposely got me fired from my previous job I didn't want to believe him. Because I trusted you but I didn't know that you were a physco."
I couldn't just let her walk away from me I knew that I had messed up big time and when all my shit got revealed. I had no proper explanation; it just made me look like a selfish greedy prick who wanted a woman all to himself.
"Just let me explain myself I know it doesn't make sense Kelsey, but just try to hear me out."
She crossed her arms over her chest.
"I met a girl when I was a grumpy teenager. I wanted nothing to do with her because she had everything I wanted."
"A loving family."
"I was jealous of her because I had a messed up family that beat me up and abused me everyday."
I could see the tears in her eyes but I couldn't stop now I had to be honest with her and tell how I got messed up.
"She was my next door neighbor. She had bright red silky hair and green eyes that showed the depth of her kind heart. She was an angel and I was the devil Kelsey. She wanted to be my friend but I had rejected her because I couldn't bear my happy smile while I was suffering."
"I was just a boy who was full of darkness, a darkness that I had gotten from my nasty father. I wished that she would just stay away from me and let me be in my dark place where I always tried to find comfort."
"She was full of light that changed everyone when she smiled at you. It changed me but she was gone and I never heard from her ever again."
"When I had decided to finally let her into my heart she walked away from me. I was broken, angry, sad and hurt. I had vowed to never be weak and be a victim of love."
I swallowed hard grasping both of her cold hands in mine.
"It took me a while to realize that I loved her even if I didn't want to admit it. I still love you Kelsey and I'll always love you."
She stared at me with wide eyes, tears still rolling down her cheeks and I wiped them away.
"Marcus you've destroyed everything between us and I don't know if I'll ever trust you again" she whispers softly.
I nodded.
"It's not enough…"
"I know" I rasped quietly as I stroked her cheeks gently. I had missed her terribly having so close to me again made me feel stronger.
She pulled away from my arms.
"You're getting married tomorrow Marcus to Tara and there's no us anymore you already lost the both of us" she whispered as she caressed her swollen pregnant bump.
"This is goodbye and I wish all the best in your new life… I'm happy for you."
"Kelsey it doesn't have to end like this I can call everything off with just a single call don't leave me."
"Stay…" I whispered and crushed my lips on hers roughly tasting her sweetness.
"Please" I pleaded once I pulled back.
"Goodbye Marcus" she said softly and began to walk away.
I had brought this upon myself and maybe I deserve to feel this kind of pain. I lost Kelsey and I would never see our child be born. For a while I just stood there helpless and lost. I didn't know what to do to get out of this situation overnight.
She was the reason why I had changed for the better I couldn't lose her for the second time. It was my fault that she was gone. I had pushed her away and now she was gone. Her words still made my heart ache with pain. The pain of losing her sucked and I probably deserved it.
Max ruined everything by telling her the truth.
Kelsey was gone. I had lost her for good this time I could feel it. The most awful part is that she would be attending the wedding. She got into Max's car as he dropped his jacket over her shoulders they drove away.
That night I went home to drown my sorrows in alcohol. I arrived home around midnight and slumped on the floor and started drinking.
An hour later I began to see a person's shadow walking towards me.
"Kelsey?" I whispered.
I blinked twice and my vision became clear. I was very intoxicated. My eyes widened in shock when I saw Tara's father.
"Mr. Eden what are you doing here?"
He remained silent and grasped my mother's photo in his hands.
I was confused.
"Do you know her? I asked curiously but he quickly shook his head and placed it back on the shelf.
" She's my mother, she died years ago and she was murdered."
He remained silent and pondered my last statement. Something was definitely wrong here.
He looked at me.
" Tomorrow is your wedding Marcus so why are you busy getting wasted at this hour?" Mr. Eden asked curiously.
I angrily glared at him.
" You tricked me into marrying your daughter!"
" You made me lose the only woman I actually love Kelsey."
He pulled a chair close to me and took a big swig of my whisky and handed back the bottle to me.
" I never wanted to deceive you Marcus but my daughter's happiness comes first."
I gave him a puzzled look.
" I don't love your daughter Tara and this marriage will only be miserable for her trust me."
He gave me a pat on the back and got up.
" Don't be late for your own wedding Marcus I'll see you tomorrow morning" he said quietly and left.
I threw the bottle against the wall and it shattered into a thousand pieces.
" Fuck!"
