Chapter forty five
KELSEY POV
I mostly spent my two weeks living indoors just laying in bed, watching TV, listening to music and stuffing my face and that kind of became my routine.
I tried calling Sasha multiple times to try and apologize to her but she never answered any of my calls and I honestly think that I've lost my best friend for good this time. I took her advice for granted and now she walked out of my life because I can't handle my shit. The mere thought of her broke my heart and I just wanted to cry all day.
Jane would occasionally come to check up on me but I kept assuring her that I was fine.
"Are you sure that you're doing fine? Jane asked in a worried tone.
I gave her a small smile.
" Yes fine."
" I could spend the night Kelsey just to make sure that you have all the necessary care."
Jane was a good friend but I was doing fine on my own.
"I'm fine Jane and I really appreciate everything you're doing for me thank you."
She engaged me in a big hug.
"It's okay Kelsey I'm just glad I could help besides you're like the little sister I never had."
She sighed deeply.
" What is it? I asked curiously.
She hesitated a bit.
"Jane."
"It's Marcus," she said softly.
"What about Marcus? I asked quietly.
" He cornered one day and practically forced me to tell him what was going on with you."
I gasped in shock.
" What?
Jane nodded quietly.
" He knows about the baby? I asked worriedly.
Jane shook her head negatively.
"No but I was so scared Kelsey I literally blurted out that you caught a bug or something" Jane admitted nervously.
We looked at each other and burst out laughing.
"One of these we might just get arrested" I muttered coolly.
" Did you talk to Sasha? Jane asked curiously.
I shook my head negatively.
"Not yet though I've tried calling her and texting her but she's not answering any of my calls or replying to my texts I think she's still mad with me."
She placed a comforting hand on my shoulder.
" Don't worry Kelsey I'm sure she'll pull through just to give her time to cool down."
She was the one who picked me up from the hospital. My life was truly messed up because I couldn't tell my own mother that I was pregnant. I didn't want to risk my baby's life of course my mother would give me her full support but if my father found out that I was carrying Marcus's baby all hell would break loose. He would do anything just to make me lose the baby and that would be heartbreaking because I've grown to love my baby unconditionally. I wouldn't give it up for anything.
Eventually I got bored so I decided to take a walk in the park. It felt peaceful to be just one with nature and that's where I saw Sasha sitting on our favourite hang out spot with a picnic blanket and basket.
I approached her.
"You're late."
I was puzzled.
"I didn't think you'd show up."
I sat beside her.
"Well I got your text last time and decided to meet you besides friends always stick together" Sasha said softly.
I nodded quietly.
"I missed you" I muttered coolly.
Sasha looked at me and smiled.
"I missed you too Kelsey."
I pointed at the picnic basket.
"So is that for me? I asked curiously.
Sasha rolled her eyes at me.
"I see your eating habits haven't changed. The baby is making you fat."
I frowned at her.
She raised her hands in defense.
"Fine I won't argue you're right about that and what have you prepared?
Sasha grinned.
"Your favourites."
My eyes lit up with excitement.
"Does that include cheese rolls?
Sasha nodded and I hugged her immediately.
" You remembered!"
"Hey calm down" Sasha scolded but I didn't care. Honestly I missed my best friend and I don't want to ever jeopardize our friendship like that.
"I love you so much!"
Sasha gasped.
"Hey don't get mushy with me" she scolded playfully and we burst out laughing.
I was happy that I got my best friend back.
TWO WEEKS LATER
After my two weeks of life was over I went back to work. Marcus kept giving me this strange look it was really hard to describe he was acting like a stalker.
I didn't even want to talk to him but as his assistant I didn't have a choice. I had to be polite and be on my best behavior. I kept thinking about what Sasha and Jane told me. Maybe Marcus deserved to know the truth. My stomach was getting bigger now and I couldn't hide my pregnancy forever.
Tara had personally invited me to her wedding.
"Kelsey dear!" A high pitched voice shouted.
When I looked up it was Tara Marcus was beside her. I rolled my eyes at them inwardly.
I gave her one of my favorite fake smiles.
"What can I do for you Ms. Tara?
She smiled at me.
" Nothing much darling I just wanted to personally invite you to the wedding and to apologise for my bad behavior the other night."
I nodded quietly.
" Marcus was too shy to give it to you so take it."
Marcus was silently watching everything.
Before I could touch the neat wedding invitation she dropped it on purpose.
"Oh gosh I'm so sorry it slipped do you mind getting it?" Tara said softly.
I nodded quietly and bent over to pick it up suddenly I felt a sharp in my back and I winced in pain.
Marcus came to my aid immediately.
"Kelsey are you okay? He asked in a worried tone.
Tara scoffed and walked away. When Marcus tried to touch me I pushed him away.
"Don't touch me I'm fine."
He stared at me with wide eyes.
I picked the up invitation and walked back to my desk without saying a word.
Max became a really good friend to me and he always came to pick me up after work.
MARCUS POV
Seeing Kelsey with Max all the time always made me feel angry. And the darkness inside me wanted to resurface. Even though Max was my childhood best friend right now I felt like killing him.
Kelsey hated me and I could see it in her eyes.
Tomorrow was going to be my wedding. A wedding I wasn't even happy with. I needed to see Kelsey one last time and at least try to justify myself.
I couldn't bear to lose her.
Later that evening I left the office immediately. I saw her walking outside. I'm sure she was going to wait for Max to come pick her up.
I followed her. She saw me at a distance and began walking in the rain.
"Kelsey wait!" I yelled as I ran after her. The both of us were already soaking wet. I caught up with her and held her by the wrist, stopping her.
"Please just listen to what I have to say..." I pleaded.
Anger flashed in her eyes but she nodded anyway. My heart was pounding in my chest. I was done hiding in the darkness. I was going to pour out my feelings to her tonight.
I've loved Kelsey since childhood and I want her in my life more than ever. My fists clenched, hands shoved into my pockets. Brows brought together, jaws clenched. I felt a magnetic pull between us. Our foreheads pressed together, our lips brush, just barely until Kelsey pulls away with a shaky exhale burying her face in the crook of my neck.
"You're getting married tomorrow Marcus it won't work between us..." She said softly she placed my hand on her stomach. Something kicked inside her and I swear I stopped breathing.
"You're pregnant?" I rasped quietly.
