Chapter fifty

MARCUS POV

I was left in utter shock.

"What?"

What the hell was going on?"

I looked at Tara and she was just as shocked as me but Mr. Eden looked damn serious.

Tara frowned at her father.

"I am an only child so stop this nonsense father this wedding is going to take place!" She yelled angrily.

Mr. Eden sighed deeply.

"Just let me explain everything," he said quietly.


MR. EDEN POV

I knew that this was a big shock especially to Marcus and Kelsey but this was the truth and I couldn't hide it any longer. I just couldn't get married.

"After I saw Faith's picture in Marcus's house I remembered everything and connected the dots. You see I met Faith years ago when my wife and I couldn't have kid's of our own. That's when Faith came in. She wanted to be our surrogate. She told me everything at the bar and she told me that she had a son called Marcus.
You were just a boy back then Marcus and never realized that we would meet again."

" It wasn't long before Faith got pregnant and months later she gave birth to a baby girl we named her Tara but faith always called her Star."

" Tara, do you remember the lady friend I introduced to you?"

Tara nodded quietly.

" You liked her very much. That was Faith and she was your mother."

" What? Tara whispered softly.

Tara's mother fumed furiously and slapped her husband.

"I knew that there was something going on between you and that poor surrogate!"

He sighed deeply.

" I'm honey I didn't want the truth to be exposed this way but I just couldn't let this wedding happen."

"Marcus was Tara's blood brother but Tara insisted on marrying him. What could I have possibly done? By then I didn't know that they were related. I only found out the truth yesterday night when I went to have a word with Marcus."

" I love you Tara honey and I want to make you happy but I couldn't let brother and sister get married. My conscience wouldn't have stopped hunting me. I'm sorry honey but I just couldn't do this…"

Tara stared at me in disbelief as she was about to burst into tears.

"Your real mother was Faith but sadly she was cruelly murdered years ago. Marcus's mother only gave you up for adoption so that you can have a better life dear she really loved you. Marcus is your blood brother and that's why you two can't get married. I know it's hard to take in but it's the truth."

" You ruined my life!" Tara sobs tearfully.
" I hate you, I hate you!" She screamed while hitting her dad's arm.


MARCUS POV

I couldn't believe what I was hearing wasn't a fantasy at all, it was actually happening. I turned to stare at Mr. Eden. I wanted to confirm if Tara was really my sister. There was one thing left to do.

I felt like I couldn't breathe anymore. I kept looking at Kelsey. She was just as shocked as me.

"Before my mother died she told me something that would help me find my lost sister. She had a star shaped birthmark on the back of her neck."

I needed to know the truth and finally get this over with. Tara stared at me with watery eyes and I slowly removed her veil. I honestly felt bad for her. Her make up was ruined.

A painful sob escaped her lips when I hovered behind her and removed her veil exposing her bare back.
My gaze lingered on her back as I trailed my eyes upwards until I finally saw it. She has a star shaped birthmark just like mother has said in her last moments.

Tara was indeed my lost sister. I had finally found her but in bad circumstances I didn't know how to react whether to be happy or not.

But was it enough proof?

"It's true you're my sister Tara" I said quietly and she ran out of the church in tears.

Mr. Eden gave me a stern nod and went after his daughter Tara.
I couldn't waste any time or this opportunity I grasped Kelsey's hands and looked into her eyes.

"I know it's not a good time now but will you-"

She cut me off by kissing me passionately on the lips. I was very surprised.

She pulled back with a shy smile.

"Will you marry me?" I finally said and her lips curved into a smile.

"Yes I'll marry you" she sniffled softly and to my surprise the priest nodded with approval.

We were going to get married and I couldn't believe it.

It wasn't our expected wedding but we began to take our vows.


MARCUS POV


I vow to make you happy, to make you laugh, and to always be there for you."

"You are the first person I want to see in the morning and the last at night. I look forward to loving the smallest moments, like your eyes while you toss your hair. Spin a coin into a fountain and make a wish for us. You are my wish come true."

"You are my other half. You are the one that makes me laugh when I'm sad, makes me consider when I want to be rash, and finds me when I am lost. You are my guide, teacher, and one true love."

"I vow to make my life forever yours and build my dreams around you."

"I take thee to be my wife and promise to look into your eyes just like I do now, with love and soulful amazement. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."

"I promise to be the man that I see now in your eyes, today, tomorrow, and for always."

"I promise to be there to catch you if you stumble, carry you over every threshold, and fall in love with you every day."

"I will take your love to give me hope, give me joy, and make me a better man."

"I promise to listen, to hear, and to always consider your feelings and thoughts as we travel together on this journey."

"I vow to love, honor, and cherish you, forsaking all others, as a faithful husband as long as we both shall live."

"I promise to be your faithful husband. I promise to love you when the sun shines, when the rain falls, in sickness, and in health. When you look at this ring, think of me and remember that I love you always."

" In my darkest hour you are my light."
I slid the diamond ring on her finger and smiled at her.

She was finally mine and I couldn't wait to claim her forever.


KELSEY POV


"I humbly give you all that I am and pray that you take me as I am and will teach me to love you. I will be your willing pupil and your devoted servant, as long as we shall live."

"I pledge throughout our years together to be true to you, to never falter or disgrace you, to be your true love, and to kiss you on your hands in wedded bliss."

"I give you this ring with the pledge to be the best woman and hopefully the mother to our children that I can be, with whom they trust and love."

"I love you not only for what you are, but for what you make me - the best possible woman I can be. Without you I am in darkness and with you I see only light. You are my true love."

And that day we officially got married.

We sealed our vows with a kiss that bonded us forever.

FIVE MONTHS LATER

MARCUS POV

Kelsey was going to give birth any day now her due date was in three days but the doctor told us to be prepared just in case the baby came early.

I took this opportunity to finally go and talk to Tara so I invited her to a certain cafe so that we could have coffee and talk. We haven't spoken to each other for months and today I wanted to finally break the ice with my sister.
A few months ago we went to the hospital to do a paternity test to find out whether we are related or not.

Siblings shouldn't know the way they taste and I honestly regretted ever touching and sleeping with her. The mere thought just disgusts me.

Later that afternoon we met at a local cafe. Tara looked much better.

"I wanted us to talk about what happened, you know, during our wedding."

She nodded quietly.

" I'm for how things ended Tara I-"

" It's alright Marcus none of us knew the truth or the shit our parents were hiding from us. Let's just put the past behind us."

She was right.

" You and Kelsey deserve to be together and I'm happy for the both of you."

I grasped her hand gently.

"Thank you Tara or should I say Star.

She frowned and smacked my hand away.

"Shut up Marcus."

" I brought the results with me and I want us to read them together."

Before I could open the results Tara stopped me.

"That won't be necessary."

She took the results from Me.

"I'll hold on to these Marcus our lives are back on track and we don't need any distractions."

At the end of the day we were on good terms and she later introduced me to her new boyfriend Jared. He was a professional swimsuit model.

Kelsey had woken me up around midnight. She was having contractions. I immediately took her to the hospital. That night I was anxiously pacing around the corridor worried.
It's been four hours and the doctors haven't said anything to me.
An hour later the doctor came out.

"Congratulations Mr. Devon, your wife gave birth to twins!"

" Thanks doc!" I beamed happily.

Five years later. Life hasn't been the same ever since our two boys arrived, Jason and Tyson plus our third boy who was just three years old Kai.
Kelsey and I were expecting our fourth child.

Our boys had made a big mess in the living room. They were very naughty.

"Marcus, if this is another boy I swear I'm going to go crazy," Kelsey said softly.

I chuckled lightly.

"Don't worry love, we'll keep trying until we have a girl..." I whispered softly in her ear.

Kelsey fronwed.

"Marcus," she warned in a playful tone.

Everything seemed in place and the both of us were finally happy together with our family. Light always prevails over darkness.

In my darkest hour Kelsey was always my light and she will continue to be my light until my last breath.


TARA POV

Once I reached home I took out the envelope and opened it. I read the results and to my surprise the test came out negative. Marcus and I weren't related.

Why did dad lie to us?

He was hiding something from us and I'll uncover the truth. I placed the test results in my purse. Marcus will never find out about this.
