Chapter fifty-three
Jones
I roll my eyes as I watch Michael.
I move closer and place the documents on the table, "Here, I'm done."
Michael looks up and smiles," Betty told you about the party right? Will you come with Dave?"
"Yes, I will. I think I won't be allowed to stay behind," I laugh.
Michael laughs too, "Good. So, do I have any appointments today?"
"Yes. Two. One in less than two hours and the other by four"
" Alright. Please tell Elizabeth to see me immediately," he says and goes back to what he's typing on the laptop.
I sigh and turn around. The door opens, startling me for a while and Dave walks in. What is he doing here?
"Hey, babe! You are here!" He says, unperturbed. I give him a hard look and move to walk out. He pulls me back," Is that how to greet your boyfriend?"
"Jeez! But we saw this morning and I did greet you, "I whisper, not wanting Michael to hear me. I don't know why Dave is starting his annoying behavior again, "Leave me now or I will punch you," I threaten. Although, I don't think that can happen.
" Dave!"Michael calls and Dave looks up at him with a huge smile on his face. He let go of me and walk forward. I take the opportunity to walk out.
Dave Margray is so annoying.
I walk back to my office but my phone vibrates. I check it and it's a message from Dave.
I sigh and open it.
"Come back here"
I laugh and sit. Is he kidding me? Why will he expect me to go back into Michael's office? How can I even exchange words with him in there?
I ignore the message and drop my phone on the table. That reminds me, I need to call Elizabeth.
I pick my telephone and dial her code. She picks up immediately.
"Hi Jones," she's always jovial. I wonder if she ever gets upset. Maybe or maybe not but she's one of the kindest women I have ever met.
"Hi. Mr. Michael wants to see you immediately"
"Oh, alright. I will be there," she says and I hang up.
The telephone rings and it's from Michael. I pick it.
"Hello sir," I say into the receiver.
The voice laughs. I can't mishear it. It's Dave. What's he doing this time.
"Why are you laughing, Dave?"
He became sober, "You are quite intelligent Miss Jones. How did you know it's me?"
I smile at the way he called my name," I will never forget the sound of your smile or the sound your voice does make whenever you are sounding arrogant, even in my sleep"
" Hey!" he cuts in sharply," I'm not sounding arrogant bae!"
"Why then will you be trying to mess with me at my workplace?"
He went quiet for a while," Because I missed you. I only wanted to see you"
What!
" But we saw two hours ago"
He coughs suspiciously," I told you to come back to Tianshi"
I shake my head then realize he can't even see me," I'm not going to do that."
"Then, we can go out. Michael is going to give you an hour leisure"
"What! I'm at work, Dave!" I scream at him.
" Hey! That's not how to behave with your boyfriend. Michael doesn't mind, right Michael?"
I hear Michael laugh," Anything for my best friend, "I hear Michael says.
" Are you guys kidding me?" I started angrily, "Do you_" the phone went off, cutting me off sharply and making me angrier.
What exactly does Dave think he's doing?
"Hey, stop acting so worked up," that annoying voice says behind me. I look up at Dave smiling sheepishly at me, "Hey pretty, you look even prettier whenever you are angry," he says and I blush slightly. I look away to conceal it but he saw me already, "OMG! You just blushed," he rattles off.
"Hey, keep your voice low," I say to him.
He looks at me, he looks unbothered, "If you follow me, I will stop but if you don't, I'm just getting started".
Gosh! What a deal.
I stand and stare up at him for a while, "Fine deal. But on a condition. We will leave the company separately"
" Fine by me baby girl," he says and tickles me. I laugh and try to push him away," Fine, let's go," he says and lets go of me. I look up and meet Elizabeth looking at us as if she just saw a ghost.
"Hi Betty," Dave says with a huge smile, winking at her before walking away.
Elizabeth stared at me for a while before her straight face suddenly formed a smile, "You guys are dating?"
I raise my brows and stare dumbfoldly at her.
She moves nearer and jubilates, "OMG! I don't believe you are dating Dave Margray"
Alright, I know Dave is like some gods to some people. I'm still dazed by the fact that he now belongs to me. But I still don't want anyone to find out about it.
"Hey, keep your voice low, please. I don't want anyone to know just yet"
She gives me a skeptical look," What? Why?"
I laugh," I just don't want to. Please, will you keep it a secret?"
She smiles now and nods severally," Anything you want Princess."
Nice! I've turned into a princess overnight.
Am I sure Elizabeth isn't crushing on Dave?
Well, who wouldn't? Most girls are.
Eew. One of the disadvantages of dating a public figure.
I smile nervously and watch her enter Michael's office before I release the breath I didn't even know I was holding.
I can't even handle it. I can't let anyone know I am dating Dave, for now. I don't have the strength to enter another fight with any of Dave's admirers.
I take my bag and walk out of the company.
I need to tell my mom about Dave today. I haven't told Nancy anything either. I wonder how they are going to take it.
A huge Lamborghini is waiting outside for me. I guess Dave is in. So, I move closer to the passenger's seat but the back seat door opens. I enter and look at Dave. It's Steven that's driving.
"You kept me waiting too much. So, it's going to be two hours"
What! "How can you do that?"
He takes his phone and types something. Then he looks at me," Done. Michael already agreed to it"
I squeeze my face at him, "You must be kidding me"
He smiles wildly," No Jones, I'm not".
He says and Steven drives.
OMG! I don't believe this is happening to me!
Dave
I look at her again and study her expression. I smile now. Michael is my friend and he will never disagree with what I say. And well, having a secretary is the same as a personal assistant. So, Elizabeth can do Jones' work in her absence.
I just don't know what she's complaining about. Isn't she glad to see me?
Maybe she doesn't love me as much as I love him.
"What are you thinking of?" She says suddenly bringing me out of my thoughts. I'm still staring at her, I realize and look away.
"I don't know why you are so upset. Seems like you don't even want to see me again," I take my phone," I can message Michael and tell him you will be coming back"
She didn't reply. So, I unlock my phone and click on Michael's number on my phone but she snatches the phone away from me. I look at her, surprised.
"What do you think you are doing?" She raise her voice slightly," Who said I don't want to see you? I just don't think it's normal. But since I'm out already, I can as well enjoy it to the fullest"
I feign seriousness," Give me my phone"
She lifts a shoulder of hers slightly as a way of telling me no, "I'm not going to do that"
I sigh, "I've lost the interest to take you out. You can get down now. Steven, stop the car"
She sits up and looks forward," Steven, drive on"
I force the smile from appearing on my face," Steven, who pays your salary? I order you to stop this car!" I scream at him, still feigning anger.
Steven shivers and pulls the car to a stop.
Jones looks at me. I can feel her eyes all over me, "Hey Steven, I'm Jones. Not only that, I'm Dave's girlfriend. Do you think Dave will forgive you for disrespecting me?" she's still staring at me.
Steven sighs, then starts the ignition. I burst out laughing. How did Steven know I would kill him if he had refused to obey Jones.
I look at Jones now, "So, you are my girlfriend?"
She raises a brow innocently, "What do you mean? Am I not?"
I laugh the more, "You are more than that baby girl," I say and pull her closer to me. I peck at her and she giggles like a child. She looks so cute this way, very cute.
Gosh, I love this woman.
Steven pulls to a stop in front of Prince and Princess Restaurant. This place also belongs to me. I look at Jones again, "We are here"
She looks around nervously, then back at me, "Can we not walk in together?"
I sigh and my face falls. I know that she must have a reason for hiding me so much. I mean she's doing the opposite of what other girls would have done. No girls would date me and not let the whole world know about it. But for Jones, I just can't guess what she's thinking about.
But I respect her, I do. Although, it breaks my heart to see she's trying so hard to prevent people from knowing how she is to me. I will wait. I won't hesitate to tell everyone about her, to let everyone know how much I love her. I love her so much to keep her hidden.
"Fine," I look up at her, "I will go in now and send someone to come and pick you," I watch Steven get down and open the door. I smile and get down.
I walk in and look around briefly at the customers.
I can't hide the fact that ladies are staring hard at me. I know I look handsome, I don't need people to tell me.
I meet with Clara, "My key," I say and she rummages through the desk for the VIP key. There are ten VIP rooms here and one is for me alone. No one is allowed to enter except with my orders.
The only reason why attendants would enter is to clean the place. And the place is always cleaned twice a day. I'm a neat guy, so I don't condone dirtiness.
Three ladies follow me in. I look around at the decorations and nod briefly. I like the color. Yes, did I say they do change the decorations and color every month?
"I want a dark theme"
"Done sir," Mercy reply.
"What will you like to take?" Maria asks while I lose the button of my shirt.
" There's a lady in my car downstairs. You are to escort her in here. I don't want gossips, ok?"
"Yes sir," Maria reply and walk out.
I take my seat and look at Stella, "I want a bottle of champagne. Then you can come back with the menu. We will be making our orders by then"
"On it sir," she says and walks out.
I take my phone and dial Steven's number. He picks up immediately," Hello. Maria is on her way to get Jones. Make sure no one suspects she's with me. Watch out for paparazzi".
" Ok sir," he says and I hang up.
I sigh and relax in my seat. The light went off and the blue ones got replaced. It makes the room look cool and dark.
