Chapter fifty-eight
I wake up very early the next morning and somehow, I anticipate me working with Dave once again.
I wonder how this is going to be.
He was always so arrogant and commanding.
Well, I'm his girlfriend now. He won't order me around like before seriously.
And if Kim tries nonsense with me, then I will deal with her.
"You are always looking good, especially in that dress," Nancy comments, laughing from ear to ear.
I smile and look at myself in the mirror. The clothes I chose were among the ones Dave brought for me that day. I chose a pair of black pant trousers and a white t-shirt. I wear my wedge and choose a black bag to match. Everything looks set and pretty.
I can't believe I'm wearing a designer dress now.
It makes me glow. I didn't know I was pretty.
I take my performant and deodorant. I like the smell of my perfumes. And well, Dave got this for me too.
I look at the pendant on my neck and a smile evades my mouth at the memory we had together. I can still see him putting it around my neck.
I look at Nancy now, "I'm prettier than you now".
Nancy laughs, "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder," she laughs and walks out.
I walk out and there's a black Venza awaiting me.
Steven walkout, bows slightly, and opened the car door for me.
Jeez, all this is seriously not necessary. But well, I will gladly show the world that I am Dave's girlfriend.
I enter the car and watch Steven start the ignition. The Air conditioner makes it feel like I'm in heaven on Earth. How can someone enjoy all this luxury?
I thought mom would be against me dating Dave and since she didn't say anything concerning it. It's time for the little girl that once slashed at the Mighty CEO to show she's the girlfriend now.
The car pulls out in front of Tianshi. Steven opens the door for me and I walk out.
It feels good to be back in Tianshi.
I walk in and everyone looks in my direction again, just like the time I was here to apologize to Dave and Kim had to make it worse.
I walk to Kim, stop for a moment, and study the expression she's giving me. I don't have the time for that. I guess she's acting so stupid now because her dress is no match to mine.
I made to walk away but she rushed to stay in front of me, preventing me.
"What the fuck are you doing here?"
"I'm here to resume the post of personal assistant."
She laughs slightly, " Are you kidding me? Do you think you can just go and come back as you like?"
I scoff at her statement. She's always getting worse every day. I don't think she's even in the best position to be the secretary. Dave was just being sentimental.
"Out of my way woman," I say softly.
She scoffs too, "What did you just say?" She raises her hand to slap me but I stop her midway.
"What the fuck is happening here?" Dave's angry voice shook the earth around us. I let go of Kim's hand and watched her run to Dave.
"Sir, I only asked her a question and she intended to slap me," how can she lie so perfectly?
Dave's angry face couldn't be measured, " Kim, what did I tell you about Jones whenever she's here?"
She looks away now, remorsefully but I know she's not, "You told me to let her in without question."
"And you had to question her? And even lie about her wanting to slap you?" Workers have gathered to watch us now. And somehow, I know there's someone somewhere taking the picture.
"You have been fired Kim," Dave says and looks my way, "Come forward."
I walk to him and amazingly, Dave holds my hand and walks me in.
My heart increases drastically. Gosh, he's so good.
How did he even know Kim was lying? Seems like he's perfect.
We walk to a new office, "Here's your office," Dave announces and I gasp.
OMG! I can't believe I will be having this office to myself. Dave furnished it to the fullest. The office looks like his except in the sense that his pieces of furniture was bigger than mine. Also, the color of my office is pink while Dave's own is purple.
I run to him and end in his embrace. I could perceive his cologne.
"Do you like it?" He says and caresses my hair slowly.
I smile, even though he can't see me, "I love it."
"Your mom has always loved something like this".
What? My mom?
I pull back and stare at him, " What do you mean?"
"Your mom came to my office yesterday".
What the heck! My mom is back? She didn't even come to me, she went to Dave? Is this good?
Dave smiled so brightly, "Then I found out she used to be my mom's closest maid when she was still alive. She even have the picture of me and mom on her phone," he sighs, " I don't have pictures of my mom as my dad took everything away from me the moment she died."
I sigh too as I reason it. I would have hated my mom if she kept my dad's pictures too. I mean that was the only thing that would remind him of his mom.
He stares right into my eyes, "I'm glad I found you, " he smiles and tilted his head in towards me.
I knew he was going to kiss me. I knew and met him halfway, kissing him.
He pulls me closer and kisses me deeply.
Most times, we don't know how and where we will meet. One thing always precede another. You can never tell the people that will stay with you at a particular time. And you can never judge someone by their present attitudes.
There was no way I was going to know that Dave would be my boyfriend today.
Dave pulls back a bit and gazed at me, "Thank you for coming back".
I smile too, "I'm happy I came back."
"I love you, Jones," he says.
The confession makes butterflies appear in me, "I love you too Dave".
