Chapter 9 My heart is aching

Chapter nine
I can't believe I came here to disgrace myself. I look back at the images on the television and discover to my amusement that the Secretary was the one doing the recording. Once, she tries to look into the camera.
Lots of people have gathered around me to watch the incident I have been trying to blot out of my head. Some were laughing and pointing at me.
I try to hold in it, to prevent myself from bursting out. My hands clench at my side involuntarily.
I close my eyes and all I can hear are loud voices of people mocking me and calling me all sorts of names.
That's it! I've had enough! I turned back toward the Secretary and hit her on the face. She slumped and went still. Everyone yells and scatters abroad. Some men move closer to me and I smile mentally.
I'm seriously going to show these people that I didn't learn judo for anything.
I will not stand by and watch them disgrace me. No! I wouldn't do that.
From the corner of my eyes, I could see Dave walk looking at me amazingly. I ignored him and jumped to attack the men that were about to attack me. I don't care! I don't even want to think about the repercussions. I seriously need to teach this person a great lesson. Maybe I will disappear to planet Mar afterward
The men gave me another long stare. I groan and look away angrily. After beating the hell out of Dave security men, the law enforcement agency shows up and here we are.
"Miss…." The man started
"Jones," I complete for him and look over at Dave.
"You committed an offense by beating up the men and sending Kim into comatose"
I shrug, "I heard Dave talking to the doctor earlier. Kim is awake", Dave looked at me
" Why were you monitoring me? "His gaze was enough to send me back into my hole but that wouldn't happen again.
" You do monitor me anyways, I was only returning the favor," I looked over at the man again," That man over there sent me into comatose. I was only paying him back"
The man looked at Dave," What? "
" That's a lie! This lady is lying," he looks at me briefly, hiss, and looks back at the man, "You know who I am right? I will never lie"
The man look back at me confused," I need someone else to tell me what happened"
" I will tell you, "someone says behind us. The voice sounds familiar. I look back and stare at Michael. What the heck is he doing here? OMG! I can't believe I'm going to lose my first salary
"I'm Michael of Mercury light and I'm Jones' boss. "
Dave looked at him angrily," You don't dare spout nonsense!"
I smile at Dave and wink at him. The Lord has finally heard my prayer.
Dave pov
I continue to stare at Kim. Seriously, it wouldn't have gotten this bad if she had allowed Jones to enter my office. I'm very sure she came to apologize. Now, tides have turned and I had to swallow my pride and apologize to that idiot girl. I can't seem to stop myself from getting angrier.
I walk inside her ward. I don't even know what she's still doing in the hospital. She received a blow and she's taking it so seriously
"Sir__", she started but I'm not ready to hear anything from her. She disgraced me
I drop some cash on the bed beside her, "Take care of yourself with that because you have been fired!"
"OMG!" She screams fearfully and goes down on her knees, "Please, I'm so sorry. Please, don't sack me. I will do anything you ask of me. Just don't fire me"
I sigh noisily, I'm not this nice.
" I will take back my word if you can take the blame for all this and also apologize to Jones Macbeth in the presence of the law enforcement agency"
She looks up at me," I will do it, sir, I will"
" Let go then. I will drive you there, "I say and walk out before she could say more.
Fun over, I think I will have to let go of Jones now. She's really strong, I must admit. I wonder how the heck she was able to take down my men. A lady for that matter. Why is she so strong?
I have never seen a lady so determined and strong since all my born days. I must admit that there's something about her that I can't place. The way she looked at me earlier and smiled. Instead of hatred, I felt some kind of feeling I can't even explain. I just wonder why Michael had to intervene. Am I sure Michael isn't falling for that lady? As far as I know, Michael loves witty girls but the silly him have a girlfriend that is based in Paris. Why exactly is he helping her?
Kim walks out dejected and slowly enters the car. I enter the car and drive towards Michael's company. Seriously, it's upsetting that I will have to play defeat again. I don't know why I always lose to Michael. That was one of the reasons I stopped being friends with him. He just seems so good and always has good things. That was how he had sex with my girlfriend in high school. A girl I just spoke to and haven't even had the chance to kiss her. She was a virgin and Michael was her first. Same for my business. I don't know what is making him so good.
I drive into their parking space, "I will wait here, "I say and watch her nod before walking out. I seriously know I would punch Michael if I set my eyes on him. I feel so much anger towards him right now.
I have lots of appointments today but somehow, I don't feel like doing anything.
I open the door and walk out with my phone in my hand. Perhaps what I need is a fresh breeze. I don't always get myself whenever I have a misunderstanding with Michael especially after the incident in high school. I've tried harder, yet I'm still far behind. Imagine, he has a girl that loves him but I'm still battling to keep in line with my love life. The second lady I decided to give my heart to, shattered it and fled. Since then, I haven't been able to see anyone that interests me. Even if Michael dies today, I won't be able to forget the fact that he has always been my best and he's always getting good things.
I decide to walk around while waiting for Kim. I start hearing voices from the place I'm heading to. They sound familiar. I stop and listen attentively.
"I didn't want to cause any trouble", a soft voice says so low," I went there to apologize but I couldn't contain the anger when I saw the video", it's Jones Macbeth
A sigh, "I told you I wouldn't give you this month salary if you come back late", that's Michael
"I'm sorry…", her voice sounds so low and dejected.
"Well, I just changed my mind"
"Really!" Jones whoop loudly, laughing in the process, "I know you aren't so wicked", I stretch my neck and I can finally see Jones. I couldn't help but look at her face, the way she contours her face as she tries to explain, and when she eventually smiles.
Michael stops to look at her, "Are you saying I'm wicked?" He asks innocently and I almost laugh.
"No, I mean you are just a little wicked", Jones says and gestures the size of what she meant.
"Fifty dollars is gone from your salary", Michael feigns seriousness while Jones screams innocently.
I smile too but suddenly control myself. I'm such an idiot eavesdropping on the conversation. I walk back to the car immediately. I need to get the heck out of this fucking place.

I laugh again. Ok, I don't understand what's going on but suddenly, I feel like I've finally made it. Just like that, the matter has been settled all thanks to Michael. There's absolutely nothing I can do to repay him. And I don't know why he's helping me out. I can't wait to tell Nancy and Mom about it.
Michael's Secretary walks to me with a smile on her face. I like this lady and I just learned her name is Elizabeth. I reciprocate her smile, "Hi Elizabeth"
"Your color looks so good this afternoon. It makes you look very beautiful"
I blush slightly. Amazing right? The first compliment I will ever get is coming from a lady.
"Thanks, Elizabeth."
"Oh, Mr. Marvel wants me to give you this. He said you will handle his appointment from henceforth," she says and dropped some files on the table before me, "we will walk hand in hand. But there are some appointments I've helped you with, especially the party."
I opened the file," What party?"
She laughs briefly, "You don't need to bother yourself about that. I will handle everything concerning it. Perhaps Mr. Marvel will give you an off that day"
I smile and nod briefly at her. She's so nice anyways. She smiles again before walking away.
The telephone rings, suddenly jerking me. God, why was it so scary?
I pick it up, "Hello"
"It's Michael"
"Oh, sorry sir. I didn't know"
A great sign, "You should. It's one of the company's rules. Anyways, I want you to come to my office right away", he commands in his authoritative voice. The man has a way of switching between those two quickly. His voice tends to be thicker and firm when he's being bossy, and thick but teasing when he's not. Anyways, both have a disposition of sexiness.
"Right away?"
"Yes!" He finished and the line went off.
I start to arrange the file and some other documents I've received earlier. I just wonder why there's so much work for a personal Assistant. It seems as though I'm the one doing all the company's work.
The telephone rang again and my heart almost stopped beating for the second time that day.
Why the heck is it so scary!
I pick it, "Hello sir,"
"How did you know it's me?"
I sigh, "I seriously don't know, it's just some kind of spirit telling it off"
He pause for a while, "Are you kidding about that?" he sounds unusual now, very scared so his voice went soft and shaky. But you wouldn't notice the extent of his shaky voice if you don't listen attentively to him.
"Yes, I was just kidding", I say and the line went off.
I smile mentally and stand to go to his office. I knock lightly," It's Jones"
"Come in," I hear his voice slightly and walk in, "What were you doing?"
"Elizabeth gave me some files and you gave me some files too and…."
He shakes his hand slightly and waves his hand, making me stop, "You are too slow. Anyways, I just want to tell you I have a party to attend on Tuesday, "Oh, that should be the party the Secretary was talking about. But why is he telling me? But can someone tell me how on earth Michael is so sexy and hot today? Whoa, when did he undo two buttons? OMG, he looks so fresh. How can someone be so perfect? Impeccably ok in all aspects. He's handsome, caring, sexy, intelligent, rich, hot___
"Are you even listening to me!" His loud voice shook the earth under me. It was like I went into a trance.
I raise a brow, innocently," Sorry, I missed that"
He sighs incredibly, "What the heck were you thinking of?"
I smile, "The development of Mercury light"
He shakes his head severally, "And why exactly will you be thinking about that presently," he signs again,
