Chapter 65 Who did it
Chapter seventy-one
Dave
I walk up and down. I'm unable to think. Something is wrong somewhere.
The door opens suddenly and Nancy walks in.
I stop walking to look at her, "Have you seen her?" I walk to Nancy and stare at her. The expression she gave me made me almost slump.
What the fuck happened to her.
"She called me yesterday night and told me she wants to get some stuff at the supermarket. That was eight o'clock".
I think about it too, " I called her at around thirty minutes after eight but she didn't pick up. Something must have happened at that time."
I look up at Nancy, " You go home. I will try to see those in the authorities."
She nods slowly before walking out.
I take my phone and dial Michael's number. He picks up immediately, "Hi."
"Tomorrow is Saturday. Don't forget the picnic," I hear Betty's voice underneath.
They don't even know that what is happening is more than that.
"Michael, I can't find Jones."
"What the fuck!" He screams.
Michael's head is bowed as he thinks about something unknown to me. After I broke the news to him. He hung up only to show in my office minutes later with his girlfriend.
Betty looks up at me, "What about her friends? Have u tried calling her line?"
I feel so scared. I've never been so afraid in my entire life. What could be wrong? Where could she be?
"Yes, I've called her numerous times but she's not picking up. And Nancy is the only friend she has. Nancy said she didn't come home last night. In the first place, she thought she was at my place. It was because I called her this morning that she knew something was also off somewhere."
I take my seat beside Michael, " Do you think this is my father's work? He couldn't have kidnapped her right?"
Michael forehead squeeze and I think he's thinking about it too
What if this is my father's handiwork?
What if he did it to Cynthia? And he's trying to do it again.
If that's the case, I will need to go and see him immediately. I will not let him take Jones away from me.
I stand up immediately and walk out. Michael and Betty call out to me but I choose to ignore them. They ran after me and caught up with me, "What the fuck do you think you are doing?"
I look at Michael, "I need to confront my dad. I won't let him take Jones away from me. "
" Confronting him can be dangerous, "Michael intervene.
But I was very much determined, " I don't care Michael. I don't!"
I walk out again before they would try to convince me. They didn't bother to call me or run after me. That I'm grateful for. I walk inside my car and drive straight to my father's house.
I park the car in front of his compound and bang at the gate. Marcus comes running towards me.
"Boss," he says and opens the gate.
I didn't reply to him and walked inside with fast strides. My heart was beating very fast than I can control.
Beads of perspiration have started to trickle down my face. Gosh, I feel so much heat inside me.
Gosh, I don't know what I can do to my dad if he doesn't let Jones go.
My father sat, waiting for me. I'm sure he watched me walk in.
I stop for a while and glared at him. How can someone like him be my father? I regret ever coming as his son. I regret taking up his work. If only my mother hadn't fallen in love with the idiot guy I call a father.
"Staring at your father that way is a crime," dad says and flips through the pages of the magazine he's looking at. He didn't look up at me but he seems to know how much I'm boiling right now.
I sigh and try to relax mentally, "Are you always this callous?"
"What do you mean?" He didn't look up as he reply. He seems so obsessed with whatever is on the pages of the magazine.
"Where have you kept her? For God's sake, why are you so wicked? Will you kill her because your son refused to marry who you chose or do you plan on sending her away as you did with Cynthia?"
He looks up now, his eyes were hardened, yet innocent, "On what evidence?"
I frown again. Is he trying to play me?
"Will you tell me it's a lie? That you didn't tell Cynthia to leave me five years ago? That you didn't intentionally tell her to come back?"
He smiles now and goes back to reading, " That doesn't mean I'm evil, does it?"
I straighten up, " Where's Jones?"
He stops his movement for a while and I believe I've just taken the bull by its the horn. He sure knows something about it.
He looks up at me now, "What did you just ask me?" His voice went deeper and louder, " Am I Jones' guards? Why must I know where she is?"
Guards? And it came at me dangerously. I did inform my men to keep watch of Jones.
But now, I can't find them. In fact, I've not been able to speak with them since two days ago. Whatever had happened, happened to them so they wouldn't be with Jones.
And this man wants to deny his involvement?
I don't even trust him. I can't even trust him.
I glare at him again, "Will you tell the truth to the authorities?"
He chuckles slightly and stands. He's huge too. We have so much in common. But I will never take after his idiotic attitudes.
"I am Richard Margray!" He screams that part with so much boldness. He's always proud of that name. The name everyone feared, "You want to hand me over to the authorities? Aside from that, what proof do you have that I'm involved in whatever mess your silly girlfriend is in."
I clench my fist beside me. I'm mentally stopping myself from hitting the man I call a father across his face.
I don't care! I will do anything to save Jones.
I smile now, "I don't. I just came to earn you to stay put and cover your tracks. If I ever find anything linking to you, I will make sure I destroy your very existence," I bow slightly and walk out.
At least I forget, I kept a tracker on each of my men's phones. I should be able to find them.
I will find them and find Jones
