Chapter 78 Who are meant to be?

This is left for me to do. I knew I had to do something. Dave wouldn't stop drinking. I know he loves Jones so much and getting a heartbreak after so long of trying not to fall in love can be so painful and unbearable.
After dropping Dave off at home, I dial Jones' number but it wasn't reachable.
If she has really stopped loving Dave, then she wouldn't have had to make her line unavailable.
That can only mean Dave was right. Mr. Richard really threatened her.
Come to think of it, Cynthia didn't tell Dave the other day when she was leaving that she was threatened.
It was now that she's talking about it.
It can only mean one thing, that he threatened her with something she couldn't avoid losing.
I need to see Nancy. If anyone doesn't know where Jones is, Nancy will.
I had already dialed Nancy's number and told her I would like to see her today and she agreed to.
Also, I made Kai spy on Mr. Richard. He is to report to me about everything going on in Tianshi.
If Dave had already handed over everything to his father, Mr. Richard will be thinking of making someone the new CEO which I won't take lightly.
It's only Dave that deserves to be called the CEO of Tianshi. I will do everything in my power to make sure it works.
I walk out of my company and enter my car. I didn't take my chauffeur with me. I feel this is too personal to involve anyone with.
I want this matter to settle and I feel I am the only one that can do it.
I drive to the mall, park my car, and walk inside.
Nancy was attending to someone when I walk in.
I let her finish up before moving closer to her. She turns to look at me, a big smile on her face, "Michael!"
I smile back at her, "How are you doing?"
She nods slowly, "I'm doing great. Please, come to my office," she says and starts walking away.
I follow her to a small office. She goes to sit and gestures for me to do so as well.
I sit and look up at her, "I need your help, Nancy. I need to know where Jones is."
Her facial expressions change suddenly. She looks away for a minute, before turning her head towards me again, "I don't know where she is. We haven't talked since she left. And I don't even think her line is reachable."
I don't know why but something keeps telling me she's hiding something. Maybe she knows where Jones is. Jones must have made her make a promise not to reveal her identity to anyone.
I stare at her for a while, "Is it really true Jones doesn't love Dave anymore?"
She shrugs slightly, "I don't know. And I don't think you should be asking me. I don't know how Jones feels. She's in the best position to talk about this issue."
I sigh and look away while thinking of what to say next. I looked up at her again, "Dave drank a lot yesterday. He came to me after dropping his right to be the CEO of Tianshi company."
Nancy looks at me quickly, " What do you mean by that? What did Dave do?"
" Dave has a lot of companies already. He had a school, a mall, and a restaurant. What more does he need? The only reason why he's still working for his father is that he's his face. And after Jones left, Dave gave up on being a CEO. So, as if we speak, the CEO seat of Tianshi is ready. Dave did all this because of Jones."
Many mouths were opened in agape as she couldn't quite believe what she was hearing, "why will he do that?"
"Dave knows. Dave knows Mr. Richard threatened Jones?" I can't help but notice the surprise in her voice. Something tells me we guessed right again
Nancy's eyes went wider and darker, " He knew?"
I nod slowly, " Dave is more brilliant than that. You should tell me where I can find her. If you don't, I don't know what Dave might do."
Nancy sighs, " You are right about everything. I know where Jones is. And she told me Mr. Richard threatened her. And she told me he threatened to disown Dave if she doesn't leave. Jones knows what disowning him would mean to him. She doesn't believe he could do it. And well, she wouldn't have expected Dave would do it."
My guess was right.
" So, I will tell you where she is," she moves her head closer, "There's a spot that reminds Jones more of her father. It's Jones' family house. It's where she is."
I hold Nancy's hands gratefully, " Thank you so very much."
She sighs again and looks away, I notice the tears in her eyes which she blinked away bravely, "I don't know what will happen to her? Jones loves Dave so much that she's always hurting every minute. I wish this can be settled," she laments sadly.
" They will," I promise, " They will be happy."
I was almost in my car when my phone rang. I pick it up and ease it close to my ear. It's Kai that's calling.
"Hello, is something wrong?"
"Mr. Richard Margray just contacted an elder in the company. And they spoke for hours. I think he's thinking of making him the next CEO."
I frown and think about it. Then I remember something, " What of his other sons?"
"I got the news that he called Joshua this morning but I don't think it went well. If it does, he wouldn't be thinking of using Mr. Johnson."
He's right. And I need to see Me, Johnson, right now.
I hang up and message Dave. I type in the location of Jones and enter my car.
I am going to finish this work. I won't let Dave turn back into the hole he came from.
