Chapter 67 Jones mustn't die
Chapter sixty-seven
Dave
I wait patiently for the police to go in. I couldn't stop fidgeting.
God, I'm so scared. Nothing must happen to Jones, nothing must.
Michael walks up to me, "The police have surrounded the whole building. There's no way they would escape."
I smile gratitude to him, " Thanks so much man."
" What are friends for? We will follow swiftly after they enter," he advises and look forward. From his expression, you will know he's also worried.
Betty called on our way here. She wanted to come over but I stopped her. I won't let anything bad happen to her too.
This is just enough for now. More of it can shatter my heart and render it useless.
The police walks inside the building slowly but there were still more around and standing on guard everywhere. There's no way anyone will be able to escape from the building.
The right security made me feel so secure and rest assured I will get the main culprit behind this.
The place is a huge completed building. Though, It's not fit for living in as it's not entirely complete. But all it needed was final touching. The building is tall and would have been magnificent if completed.
Dave would doubt it. This building seems like the one his daddy would build. His father loves this kind of thing. He's definitely the one that got Jones kidnapped.
Dave and Max follow immediately.
Stepping into the building, the first thing they see is two police coming forward but when they look closely, they realize someone was walking before them.
Dave's eyes went wider with shock as she walk Cynthia walk nearer.
"Cynthia!" Michael screamed at her.
She walks forward, then looks at Dave before walking away with the police.
Dave runs inside and see Jones laying on the floor beside a policeman. He places his head on his chest to check her breathing rate.
Then he looks up with a smile on his face, "she's still alive."
Dave walks closer, " I will take her," he says and scoops Jones in his arm.
He walks out of the building out just in time to see Cynthia about to enter the car.
Michael was beside her, "Tell me what you wished to gain from this Cynthia? How could you kidnap a fellow like you?"
At the question, Cynthis turn around to look at Michael, "This was Jones fault!"
"Don't blame anyone Cynthia," Michael argues, "This was your fault and your selfishness."
Cynthia held an emotional face, " I did it for Dave," she whispers, she was Al the verge of tears. She looks up at Dave, then at Jones that he's carrying, "Why must it be Jones? Why can't it be me?" She screams out loud so Dave would hear.
Dave walks forward now, "Because you don't deserve my love. You got your chance Cynthia and you've wasted it," he finishes and goes to his car.
Michael follows behind and helps to open the back seat. Dave gently places Jones on the seat. He looks back at Michael, "Thanks so much, Michael."
Michael sighs, "Is he alright?"
Dave smiled and nods briefly, "she's still breathing, even though it's barely but she will survive. You can leave now and meet up with Betty. I will attend to her for now."
Michael nods once and pats Dave slightly by his arm, " I will check it later then."
Dave smiles again, "Greet Betty for me."
"I will," Michael replies before walking away.
Dave enters the car and drives off to the hospital.
He can't believe Cynthia was the one that kidnapped Jones. He thought it was his dad. How can Cynthia be so wicked?
Sudden irrational breathing caught Dave's attention. He looks back briefly at Jones. Jones was going up and down as if she couldn't take a deep soothing breath.
What the heck is wrong!
"Jones!" Dave called but she wouldn't answer and he couldn't risk it because he was driving.
Dave increases the accelerator, his heartbeat hammered wildly in his chest. The fear he's suddenly experiencing resembles the one he had once felt when his mother was dying.
Beads of perspiration start to trickle down his face as he maneuvers around the car. Speeding so fast so he would get to the hospital in time.
Nothing must happen to Jones.
Getting to the hospital, he didn't wait for the nurses before scooping Jones and running inside the hospital.
He left the car open or even the engine running. He didn't care. He didn't bother to check. What concerned him at that moment was Jones's unsteady breathing.
Dave couldn't stops the tears from falling down his face, his heartfelt so tight that he couldn't quite take a deep breathe as well.
The nurses recognize the mighty Dave Margray. They rushed to him the moment he stepped foot inside the hospital and snatch Jones from him.
Because he was very popular and he was always donating to the hospital every year, they didn't request any money before admitting Jones.
Dave wanted to enter the ward, he wanted to watch Jones feel alright but they had to make him stay in the reception.
All around, people had started to take photos. Maybe they even took a picture of him when he ran in. He didn't care, he doesn't even want to think about it at that moment. All he want was Jones.
He didn't know if he should stand or sit. He kept going to and fro.
A call came through. Dave picks it up immediately. It's Michael
"Hi Dave, how is Jones."
Dave couldn't talk, he felt a lump in his throat. He couldn't stop the tears fr coming from his eyes. God, he felt miserable.
"Dave!" Michael screams at the other side of the phone, "What happened to Jones?" His voice has hardens and one could vividly hear the terror on it.
Dave takes a bow, "I'm in the hospital at the moment but Jones couldn't breathe in normally before I got here. I'm so scared Michael."
"Relax Dave," Michael tells him, " Nothing bad will happen to Jones, ok? And I will be there immediately. I'm coming with Betty."
Dave nods briefly then remembers Michael can't even see him, " Alright."
What was he going to do? Just what can he do?
He looks up just as the doctor was out.
His heart made a thunderous thud in his chest as he watch the doctor walk forward.
He remembers, he remembers it looked the same.
When his mom died, he was in the hospital with his dad. He sat on the chair in the reception when the doctor came out like this and announced to his father that his mother couldn't make it.
The blade in Dave's heart squeezed. Pains crash into him, wall of it.
He was suddenly falling. He heard screams and people screaming his name before the darkness overtook him
