+CHAPTER 23+ The Crone And The Beast
****There is madness in her bloodline****
Sometimes someone you have known for only a few days could have stronger power on you than someone you have known for centuries.
The same happened to Amber when she had told Rebecca to leave her alone.
Rebecca, her very first companion~
Rebecca has left her alone without a fuss maybe because she has gone through this phase in which Amber was currently trapped.
Broken, mourning the loss of her happily ever after.
Amber was so disappointed in Darach but still, A small part of her wanted to forgive him, to not utter a single word to him, to act like she didn't know that he hated her while the other part of her just wanted to detach herself from him completely.
Her lycan instinct has gone completely silent as if it was never there, in her mind.
Her inner witch was shouting at her that 'She can be a Queen without a king just like before.'
But Amber didn't want to be a Queen without her king. She had gotten a taste of love and affection from Darach and now she craved it with all her heart.
It was kinda funny because witches were known for being incapable of love. Amber's witch carved hatred, it fueled her powers. The stronger hatred the more power her witch will have over Amber's body.
There were three houses of witches. The Crone, the Hag and the Witch. The crone was for the crowned ones, the one who leads and Amber was one of them.
The crone was rare. It was said that it takes a millennium for a crone to be born. There was madness in her bloodline. Amber was one of the leaders also known as The Untouchables.
That was the main reason that in fight or flight mode it was the witch in her that came forward more fiercely than her fey or lycan.
Because her witch was born to lead~
Footsteps echoed her mate's footsteps. Amber didn't know for how long she had been sitting there gazing at the isolated forest.
The sun was up now which meant that she had spent the night out there.
Amber created an illusion on herself. Her mate won't see her real broken self. He will just see an illusion of a smiling Amber gazing at him.
Mustering up all her courage she looked towards her mate. The mate who offered Amber his hand, his heart, his kingdom and the position of his breeding whore in the last twenty-four hours.
A smile decorated his beautiful face when his gaze fell on her. His eyes were molten gold indicating that Amber was looking at the beast.
Her fey's warning words were playing in her mind like a broken record.
'Ask him why isn't he giving back control to his human Amber. . . Mend the shattered mind before he strikes...Ask before he destroys. . . ASK THE FILTHY WOLF~'
"I love you lass." the beast exclaimed, standing in front of her while pulling her into a warm hug.
Amber looked in his eyes, sincerity was shining in them. The beast was telling the truth. He did love her, unlike his human who loathed her entirely just because of her origin.
So what if she was a part Witch?
So what if she cast Spells?
So what if she followed Nature instead of The Moon?
Amber wasn't just a witch, she was a proud one witch.
Darach didn't know that she was a hybrid and Amber wasn't going to tell him that not until he accepted her as she was. A witch at heart.
Amber knew that Darach can give anything to change her origin but loving someone by changing them wasn't love, it was a trade and with Darach Amber wasn't up for a trade. She wanted acceptance from him and if he can't give that to her then it was not gonna work between them.
A fake giggled escaped from Amber's lips.
"Lying doesn't look good on you, your highness." Amber gave the beast a venomous look, ditching the illusion from her face.
The beast knew that his human was never going to accept her, he knew about his human's plans and he was still hiding his intentions from Amber.
Well, guess the beast was more faithful to his human than his mate.
Amber can free both of them from this mate bond. She had the power to break the fated bonds.
Somewhere deep in her memory, she knows the ancient ways~
But can she break her bond with the king of beasts? Was she strong enough to free herself?
All the emotions that she was trying to bottle up were coming out on full swing.
"Were you ever going to let him out?" Amber's question put a confused look on the beast's face.
"Let your human out beast! I won't repeat myself. . ." Amber commanded this time.
"Why would my lass want to be with my human all of a sudden? Lass doesn't like to spend time with me?" The beast asked innocently, unaware of the rage that was building inside Amber.
"I see things, I feel things, I know things that I have no way of knowing beast. Yet I know! They are passed from my ancestor's blood to my blood and yet you dare to mess with me! Do you think I'm a fool?" Amber roared.
The beast was playing with her emotions.
Amber felt like a fool for trusting him. The bastard of a beast was trying to trick her. He was trying to deceive her, Again. . .
"What are you talking about lass?" The beast asked grimly, knowing very well that what she was talking about.
"Let him out wolf! I'm already running low on patience with you!" Amber was getting angrier with each passing minute.
"What if I don't?" The beast challenged, his fangs sharpened. That was the last statement that Amber wanted to hear.
The bastard has the nerve to challenge her.
"Listen and listen carefully wolf because I don't like to repeat myself. Let the human out because if you didn't give control to him then I'm going to break the mate bond between us." Amber said in a deadly monotone while pulling him close to her face by his neck.
"You're bluffing lass." The beast snapped in astonishment while trying to get away from her grip.
"You already know who I'm wolf, don't tempt a witch if you're not ready to face the consequences." Amber repeated his words back at him, the words that he had said to her before claiming her.
"I'm the strongest of them all, the descendant of an elemental witch. Do you still think that I'm bluffing?" Amber challenged the beast, standing toe to toe with him. Her nails were digging in his neck.
Whatever the beast saw in her expression was enough to pull him in a panic mode.
"Little lass my human can be difficult sometimes, he doesn't know what we want but I do." The beast spoke softly as if he was trying to calm the monster in Amber's blood.
"And what do you want dog?" Amber mocked.
"I want my wee mate. I want you Amber and I wouldn't change a thing about you, I love you as you are with all my heart." The beast said, ignoring Amber's insult.
"Oh come on! Do you think you have any other options? I won't change a single thing about me not even for you." Amber remarked.
"But I never said that I want you to change." The beast whispered.
"Yeah because there is nothing wrong with me wolf. The problem is with your human who's soul is seeping in hatred. The fucker is trapped in darkness. He wore his hatred for me like a cruel second skin. You think I don't know why you're not letting him out?" Amber spat the words as if they tasted foul in her mouth.
Amber was telling him that there was nothing wrong with her but she didn't believe herself. By telling the beast that there was nothing wrong with her she was making herself believe that she was perfect and It was her mate who was fucked up.
But in reality, Amber was only able to identify Darach's hatred because his hatred for Amber matched the hatred that Amber felt towards her mother, the Fey Princess.
They both were fucked up in their own way. Maybe that was why were paired together. . .
"Are you going to punish me for my human's sins?" The beast asked in a small voice as if afraid of the mere idea. Tears were flowing in his eyes. He looked like a big softie bear.
Strings pulled at Amber's heart at witnessing his tears.
"So you are telling me that I have to live with a lycan whose human despise me? I don't know about you wolf but I deserve better." The beast's head was hanging low with shame at Amber's question.
It had always been this way. No matter how much the beasts tried to make things work with their mates their human side always found a way to ruin everything. The beasts have to bear the consequences of their human's actions.
"If you are so determined to hide him then I will make things easy for us and break this bond. We both will be free form this so-called bond." Amber threatened, she didn't want to end up like Rebecca. But she didn't want to break her bond with the beast, the beast that had held her while she cried in her room.
The beast was there for her, he had come back to her when Darach ran away from her scars.
Connor's beast has said the same things to Rebecca. Rebecca had foolishly trusted the beast, she had thought that the beast's love was enough for her but Connor has made her miserable. He made her feel worthless, he had placed holes in Rebecca's heart, holes that even his beast wasn't able to fill.
In the end, Connor and his beast have destroyed Rebecca, leaving an empty shell of a girl behind.
Amber was not going to repeat her friend's mistakes. She didn't want to end up like Rebecca.
But before giving up she will give this another shot. She will try to convince Darach but if he turned out to be like his brother than Amber will have no choice but to forsake him.
Forsake him to save herself from a life long misery~
"I will give him control Amber but remember that if he messed up than I'll take back the control, I'll never let him out if that's what it takes to be with you." The beast announced before pulling Amber towards him, fiercely claiming her lips with a passion that was unmatchable.
His warm tears wetted Amber's face.
"I love you." The beast whispered against her lips.
Her heart constricted in her chest. She was feeling the beast's pain through their bond.
At this moment Amber realized one thing that it was not the beast that was an animal within a lycan, it was the human who was more lethal than the beast within their soul.
The beasts just shouldered the blame of the wrongdoings of their human.
Amber looked in the eyes of her mate. It was not his fault that his human was an asshole.
Amber placed her lips on his, placing a gentle kiss on them, relishing the feel of him. She was trying to memorize this feeling, this moment because she knew that if Darach didn't accept her then she will have to forsake this big brute too, the big brute who cried for her pain. . .
The beast. . .
Her beast. . .
She will have to forsake the only person who ever cared for her, the beast who saw all her flaws and still accepted her with all his heart, the beast who saw her ugly scars as battle trophies. The one Amber fell for.
"I love you too. Let him out, Please. . ." Amber whispered against his lips. A lone tear escaped from her eyes. She wished that she could tell him that she has him and that was all she needed. But the fear of ending up like Rebecca was bigger than her desires.
Giving Amber a last longing look the beast retreated. His tears were tearing at Amber's heart.
Amber watched the once molten gold eyes turning blue indicating that she was standing in front of Darach.
The beast was gone, putting Darach in control.
