+CHAPTER 24+ Going Numb
****He wore his hatred like a cruel second skin****
Amber gazed at the king of beasts. He looked confused as fuck.
He assessed his surroundings before setting his eyes on Amber.
"What's the problem?" Darach asked.
"What's the problem?" Amber echoed in a questioning tone.
"I did something working?" Darach asked while scratching the back of his head, looking anywhere but at her.
He clearly didn't have any idea about what happen between Amber and his beast.
Maybe that was a way of the beast to show her how much control he can have on Darach. He can clearly dominate Darach but Amber didn't want a divided man.
If Darach messed this up she will have to forsake them both.
Amber had often heard that the lycans were the best deceivers but she never counted Darach as one of them. Not until today, he probably would have thought that he can let his beast deal with her until he figured a way out of this situation but the joke was on him because his own beast has chosen Amber's side, betraying his other half.
"You did nothing wrong but I just wanted to ask that do you think I'm suitable for the position of your breeding whore?" "Tell me am I?" Amber asked casually, watching him with narrowed eyes.
She was done playing around, she just needed answers. She wanted to know where she stands with her mate.
He was avoiding eye contact. Unlike his beast, he wasn't even looking at her and that bloody hurts.
The beast cherished her while Darach despised her.
The witch in her wanted go cut his balls off with a butcher's knife but Amber was holding her at bay.
She wanted to give him a chance, her heart wanted this to work.
For once her heart wanted something to work for her. . .
"Say it out loud and clear Darach. If you can say it to your darling brother then you should have the guts to say it on my face. I want you to look in my eyes and tell me what you have planned for me." Amber tried to reach out to him but he stepped away as if her touch will burn him.
He looked away from his own mate.
At this moment Amber didn't feel like the Cold Queen. She felt like a jealous and hurt wife who was throwing a tantrum. She felt like an unreasonable woman when she didn't get any reply from Darach. He was making her look like a maniac.
"Oh, now you can't even look at the body that only a few hours ago you can't get enough of? Pathetic!" Amber spat the word at him.
Silence greeted her words again.
Darach was ignoring her as if she was a pest under his boot.
He was hurting Amber and Amber wanted to hurt him back. Amber wanted him to feel what he was making her feel about herself. Worthless, unwanted, forsaken. . .
"If my father was like you then I can clearly understand why my mother wanted to forsake me because right now I can't even tolerate your presence in my life and I can't even bear the idea of giving birth to one like you." At Amber's admission, Darach's eyes snapped towards her in shock.
"Don't be so shocked your highness. My father was from your kind, a lycan." Amber continued.
"Maybe your mother had enchanted the poor lycan into thinking that she was his mate and when he came back to his senses he couldn't have gotten away from her any faster." Darach gritted, hate was dripping from his tone.
Amber hated her parents herself but the way Darach has said those words stirred a rage inside her.
We all have a past, some harder than others. We all have scars, either physical or emotional. Amber had both and it felt like Darach was mocking her pain.
"That's the main reason that if I mistakenly became pregnant with your baby l won't hesitate to end his life. There are enough fools like you in this world. I don't want another being like you to breathe in this air." There Amber said that.
If he wanted to mock her than Amber will mock him back. It seemed like he had forgotten that he was the king of a fallen race, Amber won't have any problem in reminding him if he continued to ridicule her origin.
At Amber's words, Darach's eyes snapped towards her. His face was horror-struck.
How easily his mate had exclaimed that she was going to kill their Offspring.
Darach knew that witches were evil and now his mate's words have just proved his point. How can she even talk about killing her own child? Even the idea made him sick.
Witches were truly evil and vile creatures. . .
"You will come with me Amber and that's final. Your words had just sealed your fate." Darach gritted, holding her arm in his death grip.
"You think you can make me come with you?" Amber challenged, raising a brow at him.
"You can't stop me, little mate. As you have already figured that there might be a chance of you being pregnant with my child and you have already told me that how much love you will have for that unborn child there is no chance in hell that I'll leave you here to kill my heir." At this point Darach had Amber neck in his grip. He was so enraged by her statement that he seemed to be unaware of the fact that he was hurting his own mate.
Darach will take her with him even if he had to chain her for that purpose.
If she was acting like a bitch then Darach will treat her like one. There was no way that he will leave her behind to murder his unborn baby.
"With all politeness your highness if you didn't release my neck I will have to stab you." Amber whispered seductively as if his grip on her neck had no effect on her.
But the truth was that Amber was masking her hurt with seduction. Darach's words were ripping her heart open because she had never known love before Darach. And now the one she had loved with all her heart was ripping her apart.
"The Moon has mistakenly paired me with a vile being like you. I deserve better than an ugly witch." Disgust was dripping from Darach's tone.
Amber swallowed the lump formed in the throat.
"Is it because of the scars?" Amber asked out of the blue.
"Huh..?" Darach was caught off guard by her question.
"I knew my scars were ugly but if it's because of them I can hide them just like before, you won't ever see them again but don't force me to cut you out of my life." Amber said tracing her fingers on Darach's jaw.
Darach was totally flabbergasted by her words. . .
It seemed like she was totally unaffected by his death grip on her neck. At this point, he didn't know what was true anymore, the tears that were flowing in her eyes or the seduction on her lips.
Darach's beast growled at him for treating their mate like this but Darach ignored his growls that were pounding in his head. Just like the beast had ignored Darach's warnings when he locked him in the back of their mind.
The bastard had control before but Darach wasn't going to let him dominate him. His beast was smitten by Amber, Darach can't risk giving back control to him.
Amber was as vile as any other witch or if possible she was vilest from them all because even a witch can't kill her own offspring but Amber was ready to not only harm their child but murder the unborn baby in cold blood.
She was pretty from the outside but ugly from inside.
"You can hide the scars on your back but how can you hide your own self...? Because they are not a problem, YOU ARE! The ugliness isn't in your scars it's in you." Darach spat the words at her.
Darach's words wrecked Amber, they tore her apart piece by piece~
"Then why are you so desperate to take an ugly witch like me back with you?" Amber shouted at him.
"Because you are a curse for me. A curse that I can't get rid of! But you know what? I will still take you back to my kingdom, you will be my whore until you give birth to my child. Once my child is born I might keep you around or kill you just like you were planning to do with my child." Darach smirked down at her.
And just like that Darach shattered her last hope of a happily ever after. How stupid of her to think that he would make her happy, he will fill all the holes in her heart.
Amber's scars weren't a problem, he was right! The scars weren't a problem but SHE WAS!!
When her mother had forsaken her, Amber didn't have her scars. She had forsaken Amber because there was ugliness within her. But the thing that she can't understand was that from where has this ugliness came from? She was a babe when her mother had forsaken her so what ugliness her mother could have seen within her own flesh and blood that she abandoned Amber in the deadly snow?
A fate worse than death~
At that time Amber had done nothing to her mother and now after centuries, Amber had done nothing to her mate who claimed that Amber didn't deserve love.
Who was he to decide if Amber deserved love or not?
Amber's only fault was that she had given him her love, her fault was that she had foolishly thought that she can build a home with him. Her fault was that she had foolishly fallen in love with the lycan king and in return, she had expected the same love from him.
But look at what she got in return. Hatred. . .
Amber gazed at her mate. She felt nothing. No emotion towards him.
Maybe that was it. She had eventually gone numb. He had broken her already broken heart so many times that it had gone numb.
'KILL HIM!' Amber's inner Fey's voice echoed inside her mind. . .
