+CHAPTER 52+ Vampire's Future
Amber's heart constricted inside her chest. Oracle's words had hit home. Amber had asked her to stay and she had asked Amber to let go of the past. They both had asked each other for something that they weren't ready to do yet.
The Oracle wasn't ready to grab onto the future and Amber wasn't ready to let go the past~
Amber turned around to leave. Maybe it was meant to be this way. Amber caressed her stomach, which was becoming a habit now. Too much was going on on her mind. The Oracle had left her with unanswered questions whose answers only the Oracle knew.
What had she meant by a cursed being and not able to touch children?
The Dragon was definitely going to lose it if he found that his mate had escaped again.
Amber felt bad for Aidan, he had spent a decade in Amber's territory spying on her in hopes that once she will become the crowned queen of witches she will lead him to his bride.
In a way, Amber did lead him to Ines but in the end, he lost her again.
Amber's pointed ears twitched, she caught on voices coming from a distance. It was morning and Amber was already tired, she was tempted to leave and go back to Darach but curiosity got the better of herself.
She followed the voices and the scene that greeted her made her gasp in horror.
What the fucking hell was going on?
Martha was pining Emmeline on the ground, her eyes were black, black energy was emitting from her palms.
She was going to kill Emmeline and Dark God knows why the Fey Princess wasn't doing anything. She was smiling up at Martha like a freak instead of fighting the witch.
Has her mother completely lost it?
Why she wasn't fighting back?
Who smiles at the face of their death like that?
And suddenly it clicked~
All the color drained from Amber's face. Amber had smiled at Aric the same way. She had smiled in the face of death the same way because she had lost all hopes at that time when she had tried to get herself killed by Aric.
Amber swallowed the lump formed in her throat, was she the one who had pushed Emmeline to that point? Amber stepped towards her mother and Martha.
"What do you think you are doing witch?" Amber questioned Martha who had clearly forgotten her place.
It wasn't a secret in Amber's Queendom that Amber didn't have any mother-daughter relation with Emmeline but that didn't mean that she will let anyone disrespect or harm Emmeline. No matter what the woman gave birth to her.
Martha's eyes snapped towards Amber and instead of cowering away from Amber, she gave Amber a sadistic smirk.
"What does it looks like my Queen? I thought you wanted to get rid of her too." Martha said in a taunting tone.
Amber covered her stomach protectively when she noticed a crazed glint in Martha's eyes.
At this moment she realized how vulnerable she was. She can't use her powers against Martha and she can't take her down with her Lycan strength without harming her child.
"I'll be fine Eva. Let her do it. Let her put me out of this grief. It's the only way to escape the hell I have created for myself." Amber didn't pay any attention to her mother's ramblings. She knew that Emmeline wasn't thinking straight and Amber didn't have the time to make her understand.
Amber's heart was ringing in her ears~ If Emmeline died then Aric was going to follow her. Amber was going to lose her parents again.
"Release her Martha or I'll make you regret the day you were born." Amber warned but her voice wasn't as firm as she wanted it to be.
Amber was scared~ For her mother. . .
"You think I don't know that you can't harm me while carrying that child within you?" Martha taunted again. "I have planned it for months, I have waited for the perfect time to strike."
"You'll die if you harm her Martha, even if I can't harm you there are hundreds of people in this territory who will rip you apart." Amber tried to divert Martha's attention. Maybe Darach will be awake and he will come looking for her.
Martha got a thoughtful look in her face at Amber's threat.
"If I'm going to die anyway so why not I punish you too for taking this vile woman's side." Without warning, Martha sent a ball of black energy towards Amber.
Amber's closed her eyes on instinct, she clutched her stomach with both hands. Her heart felt like it was going to burst from fear.
The last time she had felt this much fear was when she was left at the lost soul's mercy.
Was it the end of the happiness that she had gotten in centuries? Was she going to lose her child? Darach? Her parents?
Amber's eyes were close as she waited for Martha's powers to hit her but shortly her eyes flashed open when two strong arms engulfed her protectively.
"Fucking hell!!" Amber looked up at Vladimir who had taken the hit meant for her.
Amber gagged at the smell of burning flesh, she had no doubt that the smell was coming from Vladimir's back.
"Tell me, little one that you are going to skin that bitch alive." Vladimir muttered with a grimace before his eyes zoomed on Amber's stomach that was plastered to his front. He can't see her round belly because of Oracle's spell but he can feel the life growing inside her.
Vladimir gulped audibly as he touched her stomach with shaking hands. He sucked in a breath when his hand came in contact with her stomach.
His eyes widened. . .
Vladimir looked from Amber's stomach to her face and then back at her stomach.
"Fuck!" He bit out a curse.
"How the fuck is this possible?" He questioned no one in particular. Amber frowned at Vladimir but before she could question him Martha's piercing scream pulled their attention.
Amber looked at Martha and gasped when her eyes fell on Martha's body. Her heart was missing from her chest and her eyes had turned milky white indicating that her soul had left her body.
"Please wake up. You were supposed to release me! You can't leave me here!!" Emmeline was crying her heart out while shaking Martha's body like an insane woman.
Above Martha's lifeless body a strange woman was standing who was looking at Emmeline with pity. She was otherworldly beautiful. Her eyes were a strange mixture of violet color. Her locks of red hair were pinned above her neck in an elegant bun.
The blood dripping from her fingertips and the still-beating heart lying near her feet was the only indication that she had just killed a witch.
Amber can feel a strong aura of an Oracle coming out of that woman.
Her aura was even stranger than Ines.
Who was she?
How had she gotten into Amber's territory?
Suddenly an intense wave of pain engulfed Amber. She grabbed Vladimir's arm, her nails digging in his arm that was banded around her stomach protectively.
A piercing scream escaped from Amber's lips as a fresh wave of pain engulfed her. Her legs gave out. . . "Hold her vampire, she's carrying your future within her womb." The strange lady's order to Vladimir was the last thing that Amber heard before she lost consciousness.
