+CHAPTER 39+ An Unexpected Reunion
Amber looked in the fire, Rome was putting more logs in the fire. Rome and Rebecca hadn't talked to Amber after they came to know about Amber's little suicidal attempts.
Rebecca had even refused to stand in Amber's presence, she didn't even come to check on Amber. Rome had cleaned Amber's wounds that her father's claws had given her but that doesn't mean that he was happy with her. One look at his face and Amber had gulped, her throat felt dry. Rome was beyond angry. Beyond hurt. Which had told Amber to keep her mouth shut.
He had shoulders had shook with silent sobs when he cleaned Amber's wounds which had teared her apart~
He didn't want to talk to her but he had generously dragged Amber out of her home to witness the number of people she had let down with her suicidal plan.
She looked around the ground, everything around her was so peaceful yet her inside was so disturbed. Her people had gathered around her to show Amber that they stand with her.
She can see fear on her people's faces, fear of losing their Queen.
In the crowd of people, Amber's gaze found little Jimmy who was hiding behind his Fey mother, his eyes very red and puffy as if he had cried really hard. He was giving Amber shy but anxious glances.
"Mother, Queen was really going to leave us today? She was going to leave me? I thought she loved me too." Amber looked away in shame when Jimmy's questioned his mother in a hushed whisper, his voice breaking at the end. The Fey's attempts to hush her child didn't go unnoticed by Amber.
Although Amber had always envied the love of Jimmy's parents she can't deny the fact that Jimmy had always held a special place in her heart. Amber had lost count of how many times while spending her time with Jimmy she had pretended that his parents were her parents.
She just wanted to enjoy the childhood she had been deprived of by her own mother.
Was it wrong to want a little peace for herself, a little happiness, a little love? To relive her childhood by hanging out with Jimmy? She just wanted little things in her life. She had never asked for more. . .
Shame filled Amber's very being, she had told the Oracle that she didn't care about her people, she didn't care about being a Queen but now looking at her people it dawned upon her that what she was going to do. . .
She was going to forsake the people who love her with all their hearts just because her mate broke her heart.
Amber was going going to make her own father kill her just to make him loathe the Fey Princess for the rest of their immortal lives.
In her attempts to seek revenge from her birth mother Amber forgot that she had the responsibility of a whole fucking Queendom on her shoulders. She forgot that her people rely on her to lead them and protect them.
She was going to ruin everyone's life in her rage towards the Fey Princess~
But she can't help it. Her heart wants what her inner Fey craves and currently, her heart craves a miserable life for her mother.
Forgiveness was never one of Amber's strong pursuit!
But she will find another way to make the Fey Princess miserable.
Her life is not only her life~ She's a Queen and she has to stay strong for her people. It does not matter that strong is the last thing that she wants to be at this moment.
"Your hairs are turning black again, it's a good sign." The Oracle's comment pulled Amber out of her thoughts.
She sat beside Amber without asking. The Oracle carries herself around as if she owned Amber's Queendom. And strangely it didn't bother Amber even a little bit, she felt no threat to her territory by the Oracle.
Amber had formed an unknown bond with the Oracle, Amber felt a pull towards the Oracle as if her heart had known the Oracle long before they even met.
"Why?" Amber asked while realizing that she doesn't even know the name of the woman who had saved Amber from committing suicide, the woman who had provided her a shoulder to cry on.
The Oracle offered Amber a gentle smile. "You can call me Ines." Goosebumps raised on Amber's body at The Oracle's words. The Oracle had read Amber's thoughts and Amber didn't even feel the Oracle's presence in her mind.
"Your appearance indicates which part of you is influencing your thoughts. Earlier your Fey was in play. Your platinum white hairs and forest green eyes were proof of that, you were a replica of your mother." She caressed Amber's face gently and Amber unconsciously leaned into her touch.
"And now you're calm, your hairs had turned into a shade of black and your eyes are back to their flame-like shade, indicating the balance of fractions inside your mind. I can tell that the fog of rage had been cleared from your mind, not completely but it's not overpowering your mind like before." The Oracle's eyes were shining with wisdom.
Wisdom beyond Amber's age~
"How do you know so much about me?" Amber inquired in astonishment. The things that the Oracle was telling her were the things that even Amber herself had no idea about. It made her realize how little she knows about her own self.
"How do I know?" In an instant, Amber witnessed all the wisdom escaping from Ines's eyes. She pulled her hand back from Amber's face. She seemed puzzled by Amber's question. "How do I know this?" Ines repeated Amber's question again, this time she whispered it more to herself.
"Ines--" Amber began only for the Oracle to snarled at her. "Who told you to call me Ines? It's Oracle to you or Mad Oracle or anything else but not Ines! Never Ines! Are we clear!!" The Oracle was threateningly close to Amber's face which made Amber extremely uncomfortable.
Amber regarded the Oracle with shock when she witnessed tears shining in the Oracle's eyes, her bottom lip trembled. Not just a few moments ago she had told Amber to call her Ines and now she was snarling at Amber for calling her Ines.
Standing from beside Amber the Oracle dusted her clothes with her hands and turned to leave, muttering gibberish under her breath.
"I'm so done with stupid beings calling me names. It fucking hurts! They think I don't know that they are calling me mad in their heads while fucking asking for my help! Bloody hypocrites!! I didn't fucking signed to be everyone's unpaid therapist!" The Oracle muttered in rage. She whipped her tears angrily while she strode away from Amber.
"The nerve of this child! She fucking called me Ines!! How dare she call me from my name! I don't even know her." Amber's mouth gaped at the Oracle who was claiming to not even know Amber.
The woman who was telling Amber about Amber's personality was claiming that she had no idea about who Amber was.
At that moment the Oracle didn't look like a strong immortal, she looked like a little girl who needs someone to take care of her. Someone who will hand anyone his ass who dared to offend her.
The Oracle was a damaged puzzle~
"Ines. . ." A voice called the Mad Oracle from her name but this time it wasn't from Amber's lips. Both the Oracle and Amber's head snapped towards the source of the voice.
The Oracle sucked in a breath at the sight of the Dragon who was looking at the Oracle with fire blazing in his eyes while rubbing a hand over his heart.
Amber can clearly hear the sound of the Dragon's thundering heart which threatened to explode from his chest. . .
"It's been so long, I have waited for so long. . ." The Dragon's voice seemed unrecognizable to Amber. His voice was almost a sneer, vibrating dip from his chest.
Amber watched the fog of insanity evaporating from the Oracle's eyes and a look of recognition lit up in her eyes.
"FUCK!" The Oracle cursed.
"It's finally time my bride and I assure you that I won't stop until your legs will be shaking and every single being on this land will know my name." The Oracle's eyes literally bulged out of her eye sockets at the Dragon's threat.
She didn't wait for a single second before running towards the woods. Amber stared at the Dragon who followed the Oracle with a war cry, leaving Amber in confusion.
When Amber tried to follow them the Dragon turned around and actually snarled at her in a warning. Amber took an involuntary step back. The Dragon's antics shocked her.
What the fuck was going on?
"Leave them Little Girl. It's not your place to interfere." Amber's eyes snapped towards her father, his disheveled form didn't go unnoticed by her.
So the King of Beasts had finally grown balls to face his own daughter~
