+CHAPTER 45+ I'm Sorry (Part 2)

Amber's heart throbbed at the pain in her father's voice.

The King of Beast's eyes were clenched shut, he was holding his breath as he waited for Amber to break his mate bond. His body was trembling with fear...

'Do it...' They were two simple words but Amber knew how much pain those two words had caused her father... How much will power he would have needed to say those words...

Amber gazed at Darach, he was already looking at Amber, his eyes were begging Amber to not to break her parent's mate bond. Amber had given him the same look when he was breaking her heart.

"Don't do it, Amber, please... You can't do this to them." Darach pleaded.

"Remember, I'm an evil bitch and I can do whatever I want." Amber replied in a monotone. Her face was void of any emotions.

"They are your parents, don't walk on a path that will destroy everyone's life lass." Darach pleaded again.

Amber hated it when Darach pleaded for Emmeline. Listing to Darach calling her lass pulled at the strings of Amber's hear.

A heart-wrenching pain bloomed inside her chest for wanting the love of her mate which was unattainable.

She will always be an evil witch for him...

"It's funny how a person like you is lecturing Amber. You are the same person who had disrespected her, hurt her! How dare you question her now!" Rome bellowed.

Darach looked down in shame.

"Rome." Rome looked at Amber and Amber shook her head in a 'No', telling him to stop. She didn't want anyone to make Darach realize how much he had hurt her because it's pointless now. He was already lost to her.

When Darach had come into Amber's life she was so scared of commitment. She was scared of another rejection but Darach had been so sweet to her, he had made Amber feel loved.

She had thought that Darach will heal her heart but he had broken Amber's heart more than before. They hadn't been with each other for a long time but Amber had felt like she had known him for her whole life.

Rejection wasn't new to Amber but
Darach's rejection was the most painful one for Amber. When he had left Amber she had lost the will to live. His rejection had tossed Amber on the road of self-destruction.

His rejection and fueled her hatred towards her mother. If Emmeline had not abandoned her then Darach would have accepted her too.

Amber had blamed Emmeline for her broken relationship with Darach, she just wanted to make Emmeline experience a little of what she had gone through by breaking her mate bond.

Darach was the person Amber wanted the most in her life and it was the worst feeling to feel unwanted by the person you want the most.

But it wasn't Emmeline's fault that Darach didn't love Amber back.

Amber looked away from Darach. Her hand unconsciously went to her stomach as if she wanted to protect her unborn child from all the things she had suffered.

She had an impulse to protect her child from Darach. She doesn't want Darach to make her child feel dejected and unloved.

Suddenly Amber felt an unfamiliar pair of eyes burning holes in her face.

She can feel her mother studying her but instead of looking towards Emmeline, Amber gazed at her father.

"I don't want to do it any more father." Aric's eyes flashed open at Amber's words.

He looked at Amber with confusion.

"I don't want to do it." Amber repeated this time more firmly.

"Why?" He questioned with tears welled up in his eyes.

Leaving Rome's hand Amber walked towards her father. She stopped a few inches away from him.

"I gave you a choice and you chose me over your mate. So why can't I choose my father over my hatred?" Amber asked Aric gently.

"How can I hurt her knowing that I will be hurting you? You were right she's a part of you." Amber gazed at her mother who was standing there watching them.

Her body was trembling, how hard it would have been for? Her daughter and mate were so close to her yet so far.

"I can't hurt her knowing that if strike her my own father will feel the pain." Amber mumbled, she looked back at her father, tears spilled from the King of Beast's eyes.

Amber watched her father falling on his knees as if his legs could no longer bear his weight.

He covered his face with his hands as a heart-wrenching sob escaped from his lips. His shoulders shooked violently as he cried in relief as if a huge burden had been lifted from his shoulders.

He didn't give a damn about how many people have watched his breakdown. At the moment the King just wanted to let go of the pain that had been suffocating him for so long.

Amber crouched in front of her father. She gently pulled back Aric's hands from his face and place them in her lap.

Aric looked at Amber, the pain in his eyes almost killed Amber.
"I'm sorry my girl, I'm not strong enough to give her up and I can't lose you." Aric sobbed. He cupped Amber's face in hands. "You too are a part of me. How can I give up on a part of myself?" Aric asked, his eyes were shining golden. His beast was at the surface.

Amber squeezed her father's hands that were cupping her face in assurance. "It's okay." Amber consoled him.

"I know it's not okay. My mistakes had cost you your childhood." He looked towards Emmeline. More tears streamed down his face. "Our mistakes cost you your childhood. It wasn't just your mother's fault, I was the one who invited Charlie in our lives. I have her blood on my hands too."

Abruptly leaving Amber's face Aric stared at his hands in horror as if he was seeing Charlie's blood on his hands.

Amber didn't know how to respond. It seems like everyone was carrying their own fair share of guilt. She thought that she was the only one going through traumas but now it feels like everyone was going through their own type of hell.

Dark Gods! What was she going to do today... She was going to be a villain in her parent's story. She was going to accomplish nothing by breaking their mate bond. Because just breaking of a sacred bond wasn't going to split them apart because her parent's hearts beat for each other.

Amber looked at her mother in envy. She wished Darach had loved her the same way Aric loves Emmeline, he doesn't love just a part of Emmeline. Aric was in love with Emmeline's flaws too.

That was a type of bond Amber had yearned for...

Witnessing her parent's love, Amber had a nostalgic longing to be near to Darach again. Her mate whom she had loved and lost...

Amber closed her eyes to suppress the pain that was suffocating her from inside.

"Keep her away from me, father because even if I am not going to harm her it still pains me to look at her. I need time to heal from the wounds she had left on my heart." Amber opened her eyes again. It was better to tell them to leave...

Her parents need to leave...

Amber affectionately caressed her father's cheek. Aric leaned into his daughter's touch.

Tears of gratitude spilled from his eyes.

At that moment Amber realized that revenge would not have given her the peace she was experiencing now while seeing the joy and relief in her father's eyes.

"Martha will open a portal for you to the Kingdom of Lycans, take her with you." Amber's voice was thick with emotions, standing up she took a deep breath.

"Take everyone with you who wants to leave. They are free to leave." Amber looked at the Lycans gathered in the crowd. "Take the ones who don't belong here too." Amber glanced at Darach. Darach flinched at her words.

She had to let it go... She can't hold on to the past forever...

It was better to pretend that she never met her mother than to confront her.

The Goddess had once told Amber that 'Some blessing didn't reach us because they are blocked by the grudges we are holding on to' Maybe it was time for Amber to move on... Cutting all the ties with her past and the people linked with her past.

Amber was going to be a mother. She does not want to be trapped in the traumas of her past. She needs to start fresh.

She was going to walking away and leave all the pain and miseries behind which had traumatized her.

With a heavy heart, Amber walked in the direction of her lonely home...

"Eva..." Amber's shoulders stiffened at her mother's voice.

How dare she call Amber by that name! Why does she have to make it more difficult for her than it already is? Wasn't it enough that Amber was letting her go?

Amber's chest burned with anger~

"You have killed her. You have killed Eva. I am not your daughter. Don't ever call me Eva again." Amber turned around and sneered at Emmeline.

Emmeline took a step back from the resentment she saw in her daughter's eyes.

Tears streamed down her cheeks as she stared in agony at Amber. Her voice was barely audible as she pleaded. "Please stop, my heart hurts."

Amber's hands clenched into fists, her nails digging into her palm. Memories of her childhood rose to the surface.

"Do you know when a person's heart hurts?" When Emmeline gave Amber a skeptical look Amber continued.

"When it bleeds..." Amber took a threatening step in her mother's direction. "Do you know how it feels when your heart bleeds?" Amber sneered.

Emmeline took an unconscious step back from her own daughter. She had no response to her daughter's questions.

The agony in her daughter's eyes was heart-wrenching~

"Do you know how it feels when you have to dig your own claw in your chest to set your ribs back in the position, the ribs that had punctured your heart?" Amber thumped her chest as she questioned her mother, her voice laced with anguish.

Stepping in Emmeline's personal space Amber stared at her mother. Emmeline's head was hanging low, her shoulders were coiled with the weight of remorse and griefs.

Amber tilted Emmeline's chin up with her fingers to make her meet Amber's gaze.

Emmeline closed her eyes at her daughter's touch...

When she opened her eyes, her eye collided with Amber's eyes which were filled with fury while Emmeline's eyes were filled with tears of remorse and grief...

"Do you know Princess?" Amber whispered, she called Emmeline princess mockingly.

"Do you know?" Amber's voice was hoarse this time.

"You don't know!" Amber shook her head and she lowered her hand from her mother's face. "You don't know how much it hurts, you don't know how much it pains... Because you always had been protected by others. By your parents, by your mate, by your people. So you don't know the importance of protection! But I know! I have bled my way up to the top to survive!!" Amber shouted at her mother, startling her.

Her words were like whiplash for Emmeline. A sob escaped from Emmeline's lips.

She wanted to block her ears from hearing her daughter's words but how can she forget the pain in those eyes that are identical to her own eyes.

Emmeline looked at her daughter, their hairs were identical. They share the same forest green eyes, same pointed ears but they don't share the same type of pain...

Emmeline wanted to be mentally and emotionally distant, she wants to be absent-minded just like she had been from the past centuries.

Just gazing at Amber made Emmeline's heart swell inside her chest. She was so small, dressed in a pair of jeans and silk top, a cloak was draped around her shoulders, covering her back.

Not even a week ago Emmeline was living in the guilt of killing her own blood and when she had come to know that her daughter was alive. She was so happy, she had sobbed in relief in Darach's arms but now it feels like she had to carry more grief on her shoulders than before.

The guilt of abandoning Eva was going to be the end of her~

For centuries, Emmeline had been trapped in her past and the key had been lost. No one was there to save her because no one had been there to hear her cries.

She had passed her days in solitude~

Emmeline had suffered more than anyone can comprehend~

She had abandoned the Fey Kingdom to be with her mate, Aric.

She was betrayed, deceived.

She was the sword of the Fey Kingdom, the heiress to the throne and she was treated like a scum when the words of Aric's betrayal went out.

She was shunned by her own kin after she gave birth to Aric's child. She had suffered everything alone, she had gone through the childbirth alone. No one was there for her when she had cried her heart out.

No one was there for her when she had roamed the world alone with a child in her womb.

She had become a subject of mockery in her own birthland that she was destined to rule.

No one was there to tell her that everything was going to be fine, no one was there to console her... Emmeline had carried the pain of Aric's betrayal while their daughter had been growing inside her.

And in her one moment of weakness in which she gave in to her true nature had destroyed her daughter's childhood.

Emmeline had saved Eva from the hatred of her Fey for months only to gave up at the end...

Emmeline looked at her daughter, how was she going to fix her mistakes?

"Didn't your heart hurt when you threw me away? Your own blood! How could you just leave me there to die?" Amber questioned Emmeline who was looking at Amber as if she had lost everything.

Amber followed the tracks of Emmeline's tears, from her eyes to down to her cheeks.

She had a sudden urge to hold her mother close and wipe her tears, telling her that the pain will pass...

The little girl in her wants to pull Emmeline in her arms to feel how a mother's embrace feels like.

The little girl hiding inside Amber's heart was peeking out, she wanted to touch her mother, wipe the tears flowing from her eyes...

Waves of dizziness were hitting Amber, her head was pounding...

"She did come back for you Amber..." Amber's head snapped towards the Oracle so fast that she was afraid that she might have broken her neck.

"But it was too late..." Emmeline cried out brokenly.

"But you did come back for her Emmeline. The wasteland got her before we could have saved her..." The Oracle addressed Emmeline. She walked towards Emmeline and Amber, leaving Aidan behind.

Amber stared at the Oracle and Emmeline in shock.

"Stop beating yourself for the things that you had no control over." The Oracle touched Emmeline's shoulder gently and Amber wanted to skin her alive for her words and affection towards Emmeline.

She felt betrayed by the Oracle. How could she take Emmeline's side?

"You suffer from insanity Oracle, you don't know what you are talking about." Amber glared at the Oracle.

Dropping her hand from Emmeline's shoulder, the Oracle gave a hollow laugh at Amber's insult.

"I don't suffer from insanity my child, I enjoy every minute of it!" The Oracle's voice raised almost into a scream.

Her eyes were a black abyss...

Covering her stomach Amber took a step back from the Oracle. She was afraid that the Oracle might harm her child if she lost her shit again.

Amber's action didn't go unnoticed by the Oracle. She looked at Amber with hurt flashing in her eyes. "I would never harm your child, Amber." She whispered, her gaze set on Amber's stomach.

"I- I'm go- going to be a father?" Darach's shocked voice echoed in the air.

Amber gritted her teeth. She wanted to shout at Darach that he has no right on her child but she didn't turn towards him.

"Stop trying to protect her Oracle, don't you remember that she killed your sister? She left me there to die too. I carry the aftermath of your actions." Amber turned around and untied her cloak. The cloak covering her shoulders fell to the ground.

Her backless silk top did nothing to hide the scars covering her back.

Amber turned in a circle to give everyone a better view of what she had been hiding for centuries...

Everyone gasped in horror at the scars that covered Amber's back from her shoulders down to her hips.

Ugly burned rotten skin~

'What the hell happened to her?'

'How could her own mother have done that to her?'

'No wonder she had issues with accepting her parents.'

Murmurs broke all around them... People were talking...

The proud Lycan Queen's shoulders curved in shame.

Amber knew that people's jabs were suffocating Emmeline because Amber knew how it feels when someone mocks you, the Lost Souls have mocked Amber and now her people were mocking her mother.

What goes around comes around~

It almost killed Amber to show her scars to everyone, she felt exposed but Amber was tired of hiding behind magic and clocks.

She had realized that she needs to accept her flaws herself and then it won't matter if her mate or people call her ugly or making fun of her.

The scars were a part of her personality~ She wasn't going to hide them anymore.

Everyone was staring at Amber's scars except Darach who had traced her scars with his fingers. Amber smiled at the memory, he had called her a warrior but the next second her smile vanished because those kind words had been of Darach's beast.

Now Amber knew how Rebecca had felt like to be loved by the beast and despised by the human...

Darach was looking at Amber as if he was in a daze. His gaze was locked on Amber's stomach. It was like he couldn't believe that a child was growing inside Amber... Their child~

Amber felt the horrified gaze of her mother on her back. She glanced at her father who had a look of helplessness on his face. She looked at Elin and every single person present there.

Rome was trembling violently. Poor kid. Amber knew how much he despises scars... He should have listened to Amber and stayed away...

It was the first time she had shown her scars to anyone besides Darach. Turning around Amber looked back at Emmeline with flames in her eyes.

"Next time before telling me that your heart hurt, remember where you had made me bleed. And if you had any difficulty in remembering that then I will generously remind you but for now it's better if you leave with your ally's." Amber gave the Oracle a hostile look.

"You are trapped inside your own mind. You don't want to let go of the past, you don't want to see the reasonings because your life revolves around the pain you had suffered. You don't know your identity outside the traumas you have gone through." Amber flinched at the Oracle's statement.

The truth behind those words seeped in Amber's bones.

The Oracle wasn't wrong, all her life Amber's identity had revolved around the traumas of her past and now Amber didn't know what was her identity outside the lain she had gone through.

Her soul had developed a taste for the pain~

Amber and a sudden urge to disappear...

Amber turned her back at her mother. The Oracle's words and her mother's presence was too much for the little girl that lives inside her.

"You are a coward Amber, you aren't worthy of being a crone just like Charlie. My sister was a coward too for giving up on her life, leaving her responsibilities for a girl like you who is more lost than the Lost Souls out there." Amber froze at the Oracle's insults.

"I'm not a coward!" Amber screamed at the Oracle.

"Denying won't change the fact that you are a coward." The Oracle screamed back. "Your mother should have listened to her father, the King of Feys. She should have killed you in her womb and returned to her home. But she chose to bring you to this world even after choosing you got her shunned by her own kin." The Oracle spat the words at Amber.

"She had not done any favor to me by bringing me to this fucked up world! It doesn't matter if she returned from me because she shouldn't have thrown me away in the first place." Amber retorted.

"If you hate your mother so much then why don't you break her mate Bond? You have the chance, you can strike her where it will hurt the most." The Oracle said in a tempting voice.

"There's no need to break the bond that's already damaged enough." Amber sneered at the Oracle.

"Forgive me for trying to break your mate bond. I have realized that a woman who had scratched her own face by her own hands, a woman who had destroyed her own home doesn't need any more punishment. You aren't worthy enough to be my enemy." Amber taunted Emmeline.

"Such a waste... I wish Charlie hadn't been a fool to make you her heir. I don't know what the Goddess of Nature and my sister saw in you. You are only good at blaming others for your hardships. I can't believe I jeopardized my life for you." The Oracle spat the words at Amber, bitterness laced her tone. Turning her back at Amber the Oracle left. Her body was vibrating with anger with each step that she took away from Amber...

"Look at you what you have done! You messed everything up!" Amber blamed Emmeline irrationally like a small girl.

"I'm sorry..." Emmeline's voice shook.

Amber pulled at her own hair in frustration. When Amber turned to leave, Emmeline held her hand, stopping Amber in her tracks.

"You are my daughter you can't deny that. Don't you feel something for me? Just give me a chance... Please..." Emmeline begged.

"I am your daughter but not by choice.
There was a time when I felt so much that I started to feel nothing." This time Amber stared at Darach, her message very clear that she feels nothing for him too.

"Eva I am sorry." Emmeline pleaded.

Amber tugged her hand from Emmeline's grip.

"I wish that sorry had the power to fix a soul. You would not have survived one day of a life that your decision made me live. I have spent my childhood living a nightmare. Tell me that your sorry will fix that and you are forgiven."

Emmeline dropped on her knees in defeat.

"Amber she is your mother forgive her." Elin pleaded.

Amber looked at Elin, she was kneeling beside Emmeline. Holding Emmeline in her arms as she sobbed, hiding her face in the crook of Elin's neck.

"Of course you will take her side, after all, she is your sister." Martha snarled at the Elin. Amber's shoulders stiffened at the witch's words.

Amber looked at the two females.
They were sisters? Amber's eyes flickered from Emmeline to Elin and then back at Emmeline.

Her lips parted in surprise~

At this point, Amber did not know whom to trust and whom not to trust. Emmeline and Aric's return had divided everyone's loyalties.

The Oracle, Elin, the Lycans...

Amber does not know if they are loyal to her or her parents.

Once again Amber felt like an abandoned little girl but this time there was a crown on her head...

Turning her back at everyone Amber ran towards her safe place, her little home...
