+CHAPTER 26+ The One With The Goodbyes

"The Cold Queen Was Hiding A little Girl Inside Her Who Was Afraid Of People Hurting Her."

Darach's gaze was locked on the woman in front of him. The woman who had transformed into a lycan, not a regular lycan she had transformed into the beast that even Darach's own fear.

She was three times bigger than her 5.2 height, her nails had transformed into lethal claws and an image of her beast was flickering on her face.

There she was standing, the Rightful Heiress to The Lycan Throne.

Darach was staring at the beast cut from the Rightful King of Lycan's soul. His Mighty Uncle's soul.

Amber was Aric's daughter.

She was Darach's cousin, a part of family~

There was no way in hell that he will make a mistake in identifying something like that.

Darach looked towards Connor, his brother has the same look on his face. Making Darach's believe even stronger than before.

How the fuck was this even possible!!

When Amber had told him that her father was a lycan he never thought in his wildest imaginations that she would be the daughter of Aric, his Mighty Uncle or was this just an illusion?

What to believe and what not to?

She was a witch and a lycan hybrid. Could this be any more confusing? What the fuck was happening?

Is Amber the bastard child of the Crone and Aric?

Darach's beast growled at him for insulting their mate but he ignored his beast.

The Crone was killed by the Fey Princess. Is there any chance that the witch might have survived that night?

Hundreds of unanswered questions were running into Darach's mind. Darach was pulled out of his troubled thoughts by Amber's booming voice.

"I'm a witch! I work with Nature, I'm the one who believes in magic, I'm the one who heals and destroys. I don't believe in the devil and I'm not evil, not until provoked. I have ancient secrets rooted in my memory. I'm the 'Queen Of The Wastelands'." The lightning striking in the clear sky was evidence that Amber's every word was true.

"I don't wish for miracles, I make them happen, I make my own destiny and the destiny of the people who resides within my territory. Get the fuck up from your knees! My subjects bow down in front of no one else but their Queen."

The lycans that were on their knees stood up in front of Darach. All of them had one thing in common and that was confusion.

Seemed like they were as clueless as Darach. It was their first time too to witness the beast that resides within their Queen.

Amber's command had overpowered Darach's command on the beasts.

The beasts of every lycan present there had recognized the Rightful Royal Heiress.

Aric had once told Darach and Connor that don't take that lightly when a woman claimed that she was a witch because at that moment she will be standing in every bit of her true essence.

Now standing in front of Amber Darach realized that he was nothing in front of her. She was two times a leader that Darach could ever be.

Amber turned towards Darach.

There was no evil smirk on her face, she wasn't mocking him anymore, just staring at him silently.

At that moment Darach saw life leaving her beautiful eyes even if she wasn't dead~

Darach wanted the cruel witch from before back. The evil being that was hurting his brother, the witch who wanted to kill his unborn child. He can deal with her but not with this being, this broken being who was standing in front of him.

"Loving you was a mistake that I don't want to correct because unlike you I can't back up from my feelings or the promises of staying together for an eternity." She was looking at him sorrow-filled molten gold eyes.

The eyes of her beast~

The bitterness from before had evaporated from her tone completely, revealing a bare soul in front of Darach.

Which was scarring him more than her unbeatable powers. . .

"I would have kept my promises if a part of you wasn't a witch." Darach's justification sounded lame even to his own ears.

“That’s why promises are made, asshole. To be kept no matter the situation.” Amber snapped, her nails had transformed into claws and they were digging into the skin of her hand.

“Not to your kind.” Darach said simply as if that would explain everything to her.

Darach knew that he was being a fool, a stubborn fool. The woman in front of him has nothing to do with the witch that destroyed his Uncle's life. She had no fault in the history that Darach had with her kind but he was helpless.

Darach was a slave of his hatred~

Darach had lost his father and mother when he was a mere pup, at the hands of a witch.

He didn't feel that loss dearly because he was not really close to them. They had abandoned Darach and his siblings for their duties.

Darach's from the royal bloodline but his house wasn't meant to rule, he was from the Royal House of Guardians. His parents were the guardians of the kingdom of lycans, the head of the warriors. They both were assassinated by a witch.

His Uncle, the firstborn of the lycan who was the first one of their kind to roam earth had taken Darach in after Darach's parent's death along with his siblings. His Uncle was the rightful king of beasts and his father's elder brother.

His Mighty Uncle Aric has raised them as his own pups but it ended when he fell for a witch, a witch that came for a truce.

It looked like someone from her kind had gone into a killing spare and in her madness, she killed Darach's parents.

The witch was their leader, a Crone and she came to apologize but fell for Darach's Uncle.

The witch acted like a sweet little thing but Darach knew that she will show her true colors someday and that day came.

When she tried to steal Aric from his fated mate.

That day the witch's greed for true love had destroyed many lives. Aric had abandoned his own people in search of his fated mate. But it appeared as the Fey Princess disappeared from the face of the earth after killing the witch.

Without the true king, the lycans had fallen from grace. Darach was not a King, he never had been. He was a warrior who was thrown in the position of a king.

He was not born to lead, he was born to fight~

He was thrown in the mess after Aric's departure, a mess created by the evil hunger of a witch who wanted to claim someone who didn't belong to her in the first place.

The witches were cursed creatures who hurt those they love but looking at Amber doubts filled his mind, was he really doing this?

He was claiming that her kind hurt those who they love but wasn't he doing the same?

"You are filled with so much hatred that I can't help but pity you." Amber whispered to him in a monotone.

"You told me that I'm a curse to you, a curse that you can't get rid of. Even after you told me that what an evil vile creature I'm, I'll still do you a favor. I'll free you from this curse, from this mate bond." Tears were pooling in her eyes but she wasn't letting them fall.

Dread filled Darach's very being at her statement.

It was at this moment that he realized that Amber and introduced him to a ticking bomb.

"You can't do that it's impossible." Even when Darach said that he knew very well that Amber wasn't bluffing. She has the power to break their bond.

It was said that a person never realized the importance of a blessing not until that blessing was taken away from him.

The same was happening with Darach. He didn't realize Amber's worth because deep down he knew that they were bound together by the Goddess of Moon. They can't be separated, their bond was unbreakable but now when Amber had introduced him to a possibility of freeing him, he realized that he was never bound in the first place. He didn't need freedom.

"You know Darach that I can. Your beast knows too. He even offered me his love, he offered me a life where he will fight you for me, where your existence will be just a mere presence locked inside the cage of his mind but I can't let that happen because I don't need to settle for someone who's not mine." She looked straight in his eyes. "The person I'll settle for will be mine from both heart and soul and I have accepted the fact that you are not that person, you are not my person. I know my worth. I have paid dearly for every ounce of it."

Chill ran through his spine at her words. Darach had no doubt, he knew that Amber was telling the truth. His beast was capable of locking Darach inside his own body.

Darach was shocked at her words. That was why his beast had locked him up in their mind. He was hiding his schemes from Darach. Fuck! His own beast was against him.

He looked at Amber. He had thought that he was not accepting her but now it dawned upon him that what he had done.
He destroyed everything with his own hands.

Darach took her for granted because he knew that there was no way for her to leave him. He had thought that like everyone from his kind he was bound to her for an eternity. He was so wrong. Amber was going to forsake him, leave him.

She was going to fucking leave him!

Darach's heart was beating like crazy. He had messed this up. Amber was going to break their bond, she was going to leave his sorry ass alone.

The fear of losing her made him realize that he was bloody in love with Amber.
He wasn't sure about anything else. He didn't know if she was evil or not, he didn't know if she was truly a witch or a lycan but Darach was sure about one thing and that was that Darach had fallen in love with her and he was too blinded by his hatred to see that before.

He came to know his mate's importance when he was on the verge of losing her or had he lost her already?

"You will never be able to find this path again. I'll be forever lost to you love." The Queen whispered to Darach, the Queen who never had a chance to be soft. The Queen who was always bloody knuckles and shards of glass.

A Queen who just wanted people to be afraid of hurting her.

A Queen who was abandoned by everyone who was supposed to love her. . .

A Queen who was always left alone to mend the broken pieces of her heart. . .
