Feeling Stalked
POV: Selina
I sat on the plush sofa in her cozy living room, my fingers nervously twisting the edge of a throw pillow as I poured out my heart to Amara.
"He's just so... possessive, Amara. I don't know what to do," I confessed, my voice tinged with a mixture of longing and concern. She reached out a comforting hand and gave me a sympathetic look, feigning a sad face.
"I understand, Selina. Love can be so complicated, in fact, loving a billionaire is just too complicated for you. You are so special, my dear friend you deserve to be with someone who respects you and treats you well. So why don’t you hand me his number so I can replace you in his life," she teased, winking at me.
“This is not a joke, Ama!
You weren’t there, you didn’t see the look in his eyes, the possessiveness. He was so weird and rude! I complained.
“Wake up, Lina!
That is how these billionaires love. Every girl would jump at this opportunity you are about to throw away. Forget the look in his eyes, forget his manners and just be with the guy.
My God!
Do you know who Felix Yeats is?
He would change your life forever. You don’t even need to work at FY Glams anymore, he could open your very own Jewelry store and make you rich and famous. Wake up girl, this is a chance for you to climb up the social ladder and dine with billionaires. I would jump on his offer if I were in your shoes.
Besides, you claim you didn’t apply for this job, this employment letter could be a mistake or a prank. I mean, who gives a new staff a newly furnished house, a brand new car and a black card to shop at the famous billionaire mall. Which company do you think is stupid enough to give all these benefits to a new staff?” she asked me, laughing so hard at my optimism.
Just then, the doorbell rang, interrupting our conversation. I rose from the sofa and walked to the door, wondering who could be visiting at this hour. I opened the door to find a courier standing there, holding out a thick envelope.
"Miss Selina?" the courier asked.
I nodded, my curiosity piqued as I took the envelope from the courier's outstretched hand. I opened it slowly, my eyes widening as I read the contents of the letter inside. It was another employment letter from FY Glams, the prestigious company I have always dreamed of working for.
“Oh my God!
It’s real, Ama, it real!
This is the second letter offering me the same job. I mean, they couldn’t have made the same mistake twice, right?” I asked the courier curiously.
“To the best of my knowledge, it’s not a mistake Miss. It’s a real job offer from FY Glams. Congratulations Miss Selina.” He told me, smiling. Amara came over and peered over my shoulder, her eyes widening in disbelief.
"Selina, this is incredible! A house, a car, and shares in the company? This is too good to be true!" She let’s out excitedly, finally believing that it was not a mistake or a prank.
My mind raced in different directions as I tried to make sense of the situation. Yeah, Simon promised to help me apply, but I haven’t given him my credentials yet and I had never applied for a job at FY Glams by myself either. So how did they even know about me, how did they get address?” I asked within me, confused at this situation.
But, despite my confusion, a rush of excitement coursed through my veins. This was the opportunity of a lifetime, a chance to escape my current situation and start afresh.
"We have to celebrate, Selina!
What is the address of your new apartment, we need to have a look. And the car, when are you getting the car?" Amara exclaimed, her face beaming with joy.
"Slow down girl!
This calls for a toast, I’ll treat you to dinner to celebrate. And as for the other stuff, we would find out about them once I go in to confirm and accept their offer.” It all seems like a dream to me. I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t asleep.
“This is so amazing, Lina. You are so lucky and I’m proud of you.” Amara added with her eyes getting teary. She threw herself into my arms and we embraced each other, our laughter filling the room. We hurried got dressed to go to a diner close by and celebrate my new amazing job.
As we approached the cozy diner where I had made a reservation to celebrate, a shiver ran down my spine and the hairs on my body stood at alert. I couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched, of unseen eyes following my every move. I glanced over my shoulder, my breath catching in my throat. But the snowy street lay empty behind me. There was nothing and no one there, not even traces that someone had been there.
"Selina, is everything okay?" Amara asked, concern etched on her face as she noticed my unease. I forced a smile, trying to push aside my growing sense of unease.
"I'm fine, Ama. I’m just a bit on edge, I guess. It’s probably just my imagination playing tricks on me." I told her, faking a smile to ease her worries. As we entered the warm, inviting glow of the diner, my unease ebbed slightly, replaced by the comforting aroma of garlic and tomatoes. We settled into a cozy corner booth, the flickering candle casting dancing shadows on the table.
Soon I was feeling okay again and we were laughing and chatting excitedly. But as we laughed and chatted over plates of steaming pasta, the feeling of being watched returned, stronger than before. My eyes darted around the restaurant, searching for the source of my unease, but all I saw were happy diners enjoying their meals.
I’ve seen this before…
First he stalks and scares the shot out of me. Then he sends a message to give me instructions. I checked my phone in a hurry, but I found nothing. I felt disappointed when I didn’t see any message from him. It felt like a part of me is wishing to be stalked by him. I think I miss him, I was hoping to see his message and now I’m feeling disappointed.
