I Love You, Felix
POV: Selina
“I’m sorry, Mrs Wilson, you got it all wrong ma’am. We both know I would lose my job if I share the creativity of the interns to anyone. I can’t report to you before to the boss too, it’s clearly stated in my employment letter that I report directly to the boss.
I don’t know who made the rules, but I’m pretty sure you all agreed to it before it was decided. I may not be able to change the rules for you, but I could run errands for you if you like. I could get your coffee and…”
“I have a PA that is paid to run errands for me. This is exactly what I want from you. It’s either you say yes or you leave my sight right now and never come to again.” She stated firmly. I opened my mouth to protest, but she hissed and walked out on me, ignoring me again. It felt so strange, I mean, why give me a job when you won’t let me do my job, what am I supposed to do now?
I stood there for a few minutes thinking of what I would do about her in usual request. I was still lost in thought as I walked into the building after her. I pulled out my file and read the instruction on how to get to my office. I was just reaching the elevator when I read in my file that my office is on the executive floor.
“How do I get to the executive floor?” I asked one of the receptionist. I was asked to head to the underground parking lot and use any of get elevators there. I had to go around the building to the parking lot and use one of the service elevators for executives. The elevator was about to close, but I ran as fast as I could,
“Hold the elevator!” I called out to the guy in suit that just entered to hold the elevator and wait for me. He pressed the hold button and I ran into the elevator and smiled brightly to thank him. But the smile faded away from my face when I saw his face,
“Feli...
Sorry,
My Yeats!
Good morning, Mr Yeats.” I stammered out awkwardly.
“Good Morning Selina. What are you doing here, how did you find me? Are you talking me now?” he asked in surprise as his eyebrows curved suspiciously.
“No… N… No…
Of course not, I’m not stalking you, I wasn’t following you. I got this job last week and today is my first day at work. I never even knee you were my boss until last night. I’m not lying, I promise, Felix, sorry, boss.” I responded quickly, explaining myself before he gets me arrested for stalking him.
“Hmmm, you work here huh?” he asked rhetorically and I responded with a nod, trying to maintain the smile in my face and also look professional.
“So, how did you find out that I own this place, did you google me after you left my house in such a hurry?” he asked with a smile, reminding me of our lunch date that went wrong. I smiled awkwardly, trying to avoid this subject for now. I prayed for the elevator to stop so I could run out without having to answer him. But my prayer backfired and the elevator malfunctioned suddenly, plunging them into darkness.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me!” I yelled in anger and frustration. He didn’t say a word, he just kept mute and tried tapping on the buttons, trying to rectify the issued. I stood by his side, offering moral support and praying it works again. He tried so many things, but none worked. After exhausting his ideas, he threw his hand in the air, giving up on it.
“We’re stuck, Selina. We’ll have to wait for the emergency rescue team.” He told me calmly. He is acting as though it was just a minor issue. For crying out loud, this is an elevator man. We are not safe in here, anything can happen at an moment, I thought within me.
The elevator was stuck and the power was turned off, leaving two awkward strangers in the darkness. Under the cover of darkness, Felix could hardly keep his eyes off me, he could not hide his desires. I felt his eyes on me, his fixed gaze bore hole on my skin. I felt goosebumps all over, my body yearned for his.
“Come here,” he called to me, stretching his hands towards me. We were using my phones torchlight to see each other. I saw the longing in his eyes, I also desire to be cuddled to ease my pain and worries. I walked up to him, and he pulled me into his arms, hugging me tightly as I sobbed in his arms. He acted like a complete gentleman by offering me protection and comfort.
He promised to get us out of here in one piece and I believed him. But the next second, the elevator lost it’s balance and I heard a something that sounded like strings pulling apart or broken down. Before we realized what was happening, the elevator went down on it’s own. It started going down with speed, throwing us into a state of panic.
Felix held me tighter, shielding and protecting me all the while until the elevator stopped again and we both fell to the floor, with him on top of me, protecting me from danger. He was so gentle, he kept whispering comforting words to me, assuring me that everything is going to be alright. I’ve never seen him this gentle, I fell in love with him over and over again in the elevator.
“Stay right here, I’ll get help.” He told me firmly, pushing me to the far end of the elevator while he stood by the door and tried to get help. His attempts to call for help inside the elevator failed, the emergency button was ineffective, and the mobile signal was lost. Even my phone was damaged in the fall, while Felix got his phone in the car. We were practically stuck in here and the chances of coming out is quite slim.
How am I so unfortunate, why do I have to die on my first day at work, why?
As I watched him struggling with the elevator door, I realized within me that I don’t mind being his pet, I don’t mind being the replacement for his pet rabbit. I like Felix, a lot. It’ll be a shame if we both die today without saying how much we love each other. It’ll be such a shame if we don’t kiss, even once.
I went to him by the elevator door and hugged him from behind. He wanted to scold me leaving the safety of the other side of the elevator and coming to the door. But he stopped talking when I held his hand and turned him to face me,
“I love you, Felix. I will be your pet,” I teased him,
