Confronting Felix With Questions
POV: Selina
The air in the room felt heavy, thick with tension, as I sat on the couch, staring at Felix. His charming smile, the one that first drew me in, now felt like a mask hiding something sinister. I needed answers, and I wasn’t going to let his allure distract me any longer. Not after the whispers I’d heard, the rumours that wrapped around his name like a shroud.
“Felix, we need to talk.” The words came out firmer than I expected, but I couldn’t shake the trembling chill running down my spine.
“What's going on, Lina? You’re acting weird, and it’s scaring the shit out of me.” He walked closer, his eyes searching my face as if trying to dissect my thoughts.
“How long did you think you’d keep it from me?” I shot back, feeling fire and fear mingling in my chest. “Who are you, Felix? What do you want from me? Why this obsession to protect me when your past… it’s horrific?”
His brow furrowed, a flash of shock crossing his features before they settled into that stony expression I knew all too well. “Where is this coming from? Who have you been talking to?”
I had to hold my ground, even as his tone turned harsher. “What do you think, Felix? You think I would just sit back and ignore what they say? You’re a serial murderer, Felix! That’s what they’re saying!”
His eyes darkened, and for a brief moment, I felt a frisson of fear ripple through me. “Watch it, Selina! Watch your tone because you are already pissed off.” His voice was low, gravelly, like the warning edge before a storm.
“What are you going to do if I don’t? Kill me too, like you did the others?”
He stepped closer, and the look on his face was wild, an explosion ready to happen. But instead, he braced himself, like a wave crashing into the shore and pulling back. I really thought he would let loose, that the monster lurking beneath his skin would lash out. Instead, he sighed, the frustration melting into something more distressing.
“Come here,” he said, his tone shifting, now commanding, but tinged with something softer. I wanted to scream, to keep moving away from him, from this dark abyss that had suddenly opened between us. Ignoring him, I pushed past him, intent on climbing the stairs, seeking refuge away from the confrontation.
He blocked my path, his physique suddenly feeling much larger, like a shadow extending over me as he stood in my way. “Don’t be like this. It hurts to see you this way. I would never intentionally hurt you, Cupcake. It's all lies and rumours, I promise.”
But his words felt like a desperate plea, one I was tired of hearing. “This is more than a rumour, Felix! Every girl you’ve ever dated has ended up missing or dead. How can you deny that? How can you think I’d just ignore the realities that scream at me every single day?”
His expression faltered for a moment, frustration mixing with something else, anger, sadness, vulnerability. “You need to understand, it’s not what it seems. Something is going on, and I’m trying to protect you from it.” I crossed my arms, my heart raced.
“Protect me?
From what?
Did you kill them?
Did they start asking questions, too?
Did you get furious and strangle them to death in their sleep?”
“Of course not, Lina!
Why would you even ask me that?” Felix’s voice rose, his indignation cutting like a knife through the already strained atmosphere.
“Because everything about this is wrong! That many disappearances don’t just happen without someone being involved! People don’t just vanish into thin air. You have to give me something! Any indication that you...”
“It’s just an unfortunate coincidence. You don’t know the whole story.” His fists clenched, the muscles in his jaw tight. “One of my half-brothers has a history of violence, and I’ve been looking into their disappearances. I’m not the monster you think I am! I’m trying to protect you from whatever is out there! Someone is targeting me by hurting the people I care about, and I can't lose you, too!”
His eyes, momentarily filled with a gloss that suggested tears, shattered my wall of fury. Pain crumpled his features as if he were trying to hold everything in but the cracks were growing larger. I felt guilty, and the sting of his words cut deeper than I expected.
“Then why haven’t you told me this before?” My voice trembled, the anger fading just a bit, but I needed to stand strong.
“Why the secrets? I deserve to know, Felix! You could have just trusted me!” I told him in anger.
“Trust?” he spat, suddenly furious again. “You think I didn’t want to? It’s not that simple! Every time I try to let someone in, the darkness just comes creeping back. I didn’t know how to tell you without sounding insane!” he groaned in frustration, sounding frustrated. His vulnerability drew me in, but there was still so much doubt.
“What if you’re just lying to protect yourself?
What if the truths I hear… they’re real?
What if I end up just another name on the list of ‘missing persons?” I let out in a daze, wondering if I’m letting my emotions cloud my judgement.
“Stop thinking that way! Stop letting their poisonous words poison your mind!” His voice cracked, desperation lacing his breaths.
“People love to drag others down, especially when they’re afraid. But I swear to you, I’d never hurt you, Lina. I just…I just need you to believe that. I love you too much to hurt you, sweetcheeks. Just trust and believe me, my love” he lets out teasingly, trying to coerce me but failing miserably m
“Believe what? That it’s just a coincidence?” I asked him, scoffing at him for thinking I would believe his lies so easily. He took a deep breath, his intensity shifting.
“I’ve been trying so hard to protect you. I don’t know how to prove it, but I want to try. I’ll do anything to make this right, to reassure you of my love, support and protection.” He said
“Anything?” I asked, my skepticism overwhelming.
“Yes! Just help me and let us figure this out together.” He pleaded softly. His emotions were so raw, and I could sense the urgency in his tone. I could feel his hands reaching for me, trying to close the distance between us. It took everything in me not to relent, not to fall back into the comfort of his arms.
“I can’t just forget everything I’ve heard, Raymond. You have to help me understand why I should stay. Tell me everything you know about their disappearance.” I told him firmly, trying so hard to maintain my resolve and get the truth out of him.
“I swear, I will do everything you want, I will tell you everything you want to know. Just promise me that you will stay with me, and let me protect you.” He begged me. He looks tired and his eyes looked hollow and stressed. I have never seen him looking this way before. His emotions are raw and vulnerable, showing me a side that terrified him. The fear that someone, something, was lurking in the shadows.
What if I was wrong?
What if the whispers were truly just that?
But could I ever shake off the warnings deeply imprinted in my mind?
“Prove it to me, Felix. Show me. No more secrets.” I repeated firmly. He nodded slowly, his gaze softening as he stepped back.
“Okay, I will tell you everything. But first, let us go upstairs so I can freshen up.” He told me, smiling weakly as he reminded me that he is just returning from work before I stopped him with my questions and suspicions. I just hope that perhaps, the truth would bring us closer rather than tear us apart. I really want this relationship to work. I don’t know what I’ll do without him. I hav
e already fallen deeply in love with him.
