Chapter 16

"Ok fine. It's your lunch box. That day you freaked out and threw the lunch box away and I couldn't figure out why you did it but I still liked you so I picked up the lunch box and kept it as a reminder not to ever bother you when you are eating."


"You always come when I am having my lunch."


"Ya but it was because I was sure you wouldn't run away again."


I laughed at his comment. "Do you want it back?" he asked.


"No, finder's keeper's right. You found it so you get to keep it." I handed him the lunch box. 


I said good night to him and him to me. I walked out and in to the house. 


MC and mom were waiting for me to hear a juicy story. I changed in my PJ and talked about the date for hours. 


"So any way he drove me home and so I said 'we should do this again sometimes.' and he totally agreed." I finished my story.


"Congratulations Mrs. J, the opportunity for you to have a grandchild might not be just a lost dream." MC congratulated my mom.


"Just because we had one great date doesn't mean that I might marry him someday." I complained but MC hit back "You are right. He is too good to be true so marry him and bear him a child before you lose this golden chance."


"This is not funny. Anyway I am not going to see him until Monday, should I call him tomorrow?" When I asked this question, MC and my mom both equally said "No" 


My mom explained to me why I can't call him first "The girl never calls after the first date. It has to be the guy or else you are robbing him of any chance to amaze you."


"He took the first move to ask me out, why can't I call?" MC answered my question.


"If the girl calls right after the first date, she is going to look needy. And no man wants to go out with a needy girl. If he did, he would be better off with a new born baby for his date."


"You know, the more you guys tell me about dating, the less I understand." I complained.


My mom continued "Believe me pumpkin, you do not want to make that call. Even when you see him at work, don't act like it's a big deal. Be cool and let him come to you."


I took their advice and went to bed. The next day was probably the longest day. I was so excited for Monday and to see Shawn and since I was forbidden to call him, I had to wait until he called. But the truth is he didn't call. 


The entire time I spend the day just staring at my phone but there was nothing. He didn't call.


Monday came and I went to work with hopes to see Shawn. I sat in my office waiting for Shawn and the mug. But unfortunately neither one of them came. I got worried. We had a great date and then nothing. I went to accountings and after I was done, on my way back to the office I saw Shawn. He was talking to an employee. When he was done, he turned to my direction and speeds off. He didn't even look once at me. It was as if he was walking right through me. I turned around to see if he had seen me. But he just walked fast and disappeared from my sight. Now I am really confused, what could have gone wrong for him to ignore me like that?


I went to the break room to get tea and I ran in to Oliver. "Hey" he greeted me. But I was too occupied with my thoughts so I didn't respond. I just grabbed my tea and walked away. He followed me "What is wrong with you now?" he asked. "Nothing is wrong Olly." I answered to him.


"Are you sure?" he asked again. I just nodded my head. But once we enter our office, I realized that a lot was weighting my head so I told Oliver.


"Ok get this, Shawn and I had an amazing date on Saturday and we even said 'we should do it again.' but now all he is doing is ignoring me. I mean what could have gone wrong?"


Oliver stayed silent for a while "How do you know he is ignoring you?" he asked.


"Well he didn't call and earlier he walked by me and not even says a word."


Oliver again stayed silent "Maybe he is busy."


"Busy with what? I went to his office earlier and he wasn't even there." 


Oliver stayed silent again "Maybe he is out in an investor hunt."


"We just got Ron King to invest, what else could he possibly need?"


"Ok you know what? I am losing ways to comfort you. It is going to be fine. For all we know, he might be worried how to make the next move after your first date." Oliver is really trying to make me feel better. 


"This is the worst year ever. At first I thought I was going to do well but the Lucy Chaw appeared." I started to complain. I was standing in front of Oliver so I had no sight of the door. Oliver had a wide eye and shaking his head he said "Shut up Ally." But I was upset so I just kept going. 


"It's bad enough that I have to work with my mortal enemy and that girl who bullied me my entire life but now the guy I like is ignoring me. Why is this happening to only me?"


Oliver again said "Ally would you please keep your mouth shut?"


I got angry "Why do you keep calling me Ally, It is Princi God damn it."


Then I heard a voice behind me "Princi from high school." When I turned around it was her. Lucy Chaw.


My heart dropped in to my stomach. I can see a smile on her face. But it wasn't a friendly smile. It was more of 'I am going to destroy you' smile.


"So" she said "You are the little nerd girl from high school that I used to torment."


"Yes" I answered with confidence "I used to be that girl but not anymore. I am above you now and I am more successful than you could ever be. So I have the advantage now."


She laughed hard "You have advantage over me, please, you know, now that I remember, our prophesy has came true." she started walking closer to me slowly and I walked backwards "Now that I know you think you have advantage over me, I am going to make even more effort to make sure you will understand that you are still that dumb scared little mud girl that will get to nowhere. See you later 'Dushwalker'" she walked out laughing hard. And I just realized that the world is out to get me back for something I have done in a past life, whatever it may be.


"Dushwalker, what the hell does that mean?" Oliver asked.


"I used to have Star Wars back bag so they took Skywalker and replaced it with Dushwalker." I explained to him. He laughed "You had a Star Wars back bag, you had it coming." 


I got angry and said "Lucy Chaw will never love you!" he immediately stopped laughing.


The next day the same thing happened, the next day and the day after. The mugs stopped coming and so did Shawn.


Thursday I went home early. MC had come to visit me. I told her about Lucy Chaw and Shawn ignoring me.


"Come on how bad could Lucy Chaw be? I mean it has been years since you last seen each other. So I don't think she is going to put in that much effort to torment you." 


I told her what she had said to me when she realized who I was. I also told her what she did "Yesterday, we had a meeting and I tried to get up but couldn't. Turns out Lucy Chaw had gone to the conference room early and covered my chair with glue. Long story short, I had to cut my dress and wear big old sweat pants that Olly borrowed from the genitor."


"Glue on a chair; that is like the oldest trick in the book. She really has slipped." MC tried to make me feel better. 


"No the bad part was she knew where to do it. I had a presentation and when they asked me to present, I used the chairs wheels as legs. I was sliding to and back from the power point." MC laughed.


After she was done laughing "Wait you said you were in a meeting. Was Shawn there?"


"Ya, but as soon as the meeting was over he stood up and disappeared from there. I couldn't follow him to see if he was fine because I was stuck to the chair."


"What happened on your first date? Did you say something offensive to him? Or gave him a bad sign without knowing it?" she asked.


"No, the date was amazing." I answered.


"Tell me everything you guys talked about again."


"Ok, we talked about music, I told him my apples secret, he told me about his step mother and then he told me about his grandma. We talked about our wildest moments..." 


MC interrupted me "Oh please tell me you didn't tell him about that stupid butterfly hunting story."


"I didn't tell him about it." I lied. She looked at me in a mysterious way "You told him, didn't you?"


"Yes" I answered honestly.


"That has to be the reason to why he has been avoiding you."


"That is not true. He really liked that story." I continued "Should I call him and see what happened?" I asked her.


"No way, I told you the girl never makes the call. Don't you dare call him Princi, I am serious." she warned me.


"Ok fine, geez." I said to cool her off. But once again she looked at me in a mysterious way "You called him didn't you?"


"Yes" I once again answered honestly.


She flipped her arms in frustration "Why don't you ever listen to my advice?" she yelled.


"It doesn't matter ok. He didn't pick up his phone. I tried many times but he wouldn't answer. I honestly am losing all hope." I faced the ground.


"If it makes you feel better, things between Chris and I are going great. Maybe it is because we don't see each other ever second because most of the time he is in China taking care of his father's company, but when he is in town, we are all in." she brags.


"How is that supposed to make me feel better?" I asked her.


"I don't know. I just wanted to brag about my awesome boyfriend."


I sigh hard "As Jon Snow said 'At least the end of the world is working out for one person'"


"Come on Princi, it's not the end of the world. I am sure everything is fine."
