Chapter 42

Life was great. Without Lucy Chaw at work, everything was as simple as the day.

I can work without worrying about her snarky comments or glares or wondering about what she was plotting for me next.

I was worried that Oliver would take the suspension hard. But to my surprise, he wasn't bothered about Lucy Chaw at all.

I asked him if he was okay and he told me he couldn't care less. Everything that has happened in the last months have opened his eyes and he was no longer hoping that she would be better than i made her out to be.

In honesty, i was really happy that my friend was able to move on from that witch. And so was he.

I had been meaning to go and thank Shawn for what he did for me. After our moment in the elevator, i had been scared to see him eye to eye and i have been even more confused about our relationship.

But i needed to thank him. So, when lunch time came around, i waited until the office was empty and made my way towards Shawn's office.

The closer i got, the more my heart sped up. I have absolutely no idea where this conversation would lead. But after what he had done for me, i am more than sure that...Shawn and o might actually make something out of our situation.

I love him. And he obviously still cares about me. So...maybe...

I walked up to the door and saw that it was partially opened and the people inside the office were totally oblivious to the cracked door.

I listened to the voices coming put of the office and recognized them to be Shawn's and...Lucy Chaws'.

Wait a Second... Lucy Chaw? What the hell is she doing here?

I tried to fight against the urge to look through the cracked door but lost. So, i quietly walled closer and looked through it.

There they were. Standing closer to each other. Lucy looked upset and Shawn looked indifferent. But there closeness really bothered me.

I couldn't quite hear what they were talking about because it was a hush conversation. All i could hear was their voice.

Shawn was about to say something when Lucy Chaw cut him off...with a KISS.

i quickly looked away when i couldn't stomach the view.

Lucy kissed Shawn.

I rushed away from the door, not caring if the shoes were outing me to the love birds in the office.

I didn't wait around. It's Saturday and I'm done with work. So, without hanging around fo another second, i bolted to the elevator.

To my tiny luck, the elevator took me down without breaking or making those terrifying sounds of a break down. The elevator didn't break. But i did.

It didn't take me long to get to the bus stop.

I was pretty much on autopilot for the entire ride home. My phone rang but i was too out of it to even look at the name.

By the time i got home, i was a crying mess. I ignored the call of my parents as i made my way to my room. Of course, mom followed but i didn't let her in. I didn't want to talk to anyone.

Today has marked the end of what ever Shawn and I had. It is over for the final time. And i was more than crushed.

I tired to destruct myself for the rest of the day but nothing worked. I just couldn't get that horrible image put of my head and it was driving me crazy.

I got a text on my phone and i picked it up to see that ot was Iven.

Apparently, my oh so nosey father called him and asked if he was the cause of my tears.

I had to explain that it was work related and i was fine at the moment but Iven didn't buy it. Instead of leaving me alone, he called and asked if i was okay again.

After trying to convince him that i as fin and horribly failing, he suggested that we meet for some fresh air.

I was tempted to say no but i do need some fresh air. So i hesitantly said yes and waited for him to come over to my place

***

"Here you go."

Iven passed me a cotton candy that he insisted we try. He got me a pink one and him self a blue one.

We sat on a bench in silence as we ate the cotton candies. I have to admit, they were delicious and i was more than happy that he offered to buy me some.

"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked.

"No. I'v had enough of depressing stuff. I don't want to talk about something that makes me sad "

Iven nodded his head "so..should we talk about your fathers' flip_flops?"

I chucked a bit before bumping my shoulder in to his.

"How about something you're excited about?"

I though about what made me excited before i answered him. "I'm moving in with my friends tomorrow."

Yes. Tomorrow is moving day. After weeks of just meeting at our new apartment for pizza and gossip, it is finally time for us to move out of our parent's house and in to our new home.

It is going to be a bitter sweet moment as we all move out of our childhood home. But, it is finally time for us to grow up and this as the perfect move.

"Who're your friends?" Iven asked as he plugged a large amount of blue cotton candy and stuffed it in his mouth.

"One is a childhood friend and the other is a co-worker-turned bestie."

Iven nodded his head before looking at me. His gorgeous face is suddenly painted in a frown before he looked away.

He looked around the park before standing up. He took my hand in his and dragged me off the bench.

He pulls me over to some kids skating on their skateboard.

"Hey kids..." Iven greeted them and they greeted back. They looked friendly as if they had met each other before.

"Mind if i borrow a board, Chris?" Iven asked the tall kid.

The kid- Chris- threw his head back and howled put a laugh.

"Are you sure bro? Last time you were on this bad boy you broke some bones."

Iven glared at the tall kid and snatched the skateboard out of his hands.

Iven turned to me and explained that the annoying kid is his younger brother.

After saying 'Hi' Iven pulled me aside and sat the skateboard on the ground and took a deep breath.

"My dad used to skate and it helped him with his anger so...i thought we should try it."

Iven let out a shakey breath before stepping his right foot on top of the board.

He looked really nervous as he pushed himself with his left foot and leaped forward.

It doesn't even take him a while minute before he fail flat on his ass.

I called out his name and rushed over to him but, instead of helping him up, i burst out in laughter. I tried to stop but his face was just too funny to be serious.

I held my stomach with both my hands and crouched down next to him.

His brother Chris and his friends joined in as his brother took his skateboard board and walked away without helping Iven up

When i finally calmed own, i wiped the tears from the corner of my eyes and helped him up.

He groaned and stretched his back as he dusted his pants.

"Why are you so surprised?" Iven asked "I said skating helped my dad and he told me to try it. I never said i was good at it."

He throws me in to another laugh and noticed that he was staring at me.

"What?"

"You have a really infectious laugh." Iven commented and i chuckled.

"Yeah...give it more times. You will totally hate the snorts that comes out with my crazy laugh."

"Oh?" Iven smirked "More time? Does that mean i officially scored a second date?"

"Maybe?" I matched his killer smirk and he let out a small laugh.

"Well... I don't know if it would count as a second date but, tomorrow is moving day. You can come over and help me move if you want." I offered and Iven flashed me that million dollar smile.

"I'll be there."
