Chapter 40
The week couldn't go by any slower. With having absolutely nothing to do because i was suspended for a month _with out pay_ i took it upon myself to go to our new apartment to make it more of a home than just a house.
I had it repainted and ordered some furnitures for the living room.
Then i started working on the kitchen. I bought dishes, cups, pots, some funny quoted mugs and some wine glasses for MC and Oliver.
Ok fine, i bought myself a special wine glass too. I'll probably be having OJ with it.
When i was done the main area, i went into my room. I kept the light cream color because it looked uplifting. I ordered some curtains and online.
Moving day was still two weeks later as MC wanted to pack up EVERY THING before moves here and asked that we all do it at the same time.
Any who, after a long wait, it was finally the DAY.
The day i will go on a blind date with a guy named Iven.
I'm nervous. Like...a lot nervous. And every time i glance over to the shelf. More specifically, when i look at all the Mugs Shawn gave me.
Damn it. Even when he got me suspended for no reason, i still get butterflies every time i look at them.
I would be pulled in to the beautiful memories of the days he started giving me those mugs.
I stood up from my bed and walked over to the shelf holding so many sweet memories.
I picked the first mug he ever gave me and turned it upside down and read what he wrote on the bottom.
"From Ignorant Jerk."
A chuckle escaped my throat as i sat it down and skipped the next to look at the one where he had wrote his name on the bottom instead of ignorant jerk.
I was really happy that he had written his name on the bottom of it. A smile covered my lips as i moved o the one that said "i am your father."
I couldn't help but laugh as i remembered that he had played hooky just to watch star wars.
And finally, i moved to the last special mug he gifted me with.
It was the day after i lost my phone at work and he helped me find it.
I flipped the mug and read the last words on the bottom in a dying whisper.
"From sea blue eyes."
I didn't even realize that tears were running down my cheeks until i tried to wipe my suddenly runny nose.
I sat the mug back at it's spot and wiped my tears off my face with the sleeve of my shirt.
I blew out a big breath before moving to my closet.
What i had with shawn is now in my past. And I can't afford to look back, at least not without hurting myself.
So, with determinations of moving on, i started getting ready for the date.
***
I walked into the restaurant my father had told me about and sat bear the window.
I'm meeting the guy at 7:30 and it is now 7:10.
I placed my hands on my lap and looked down at my clothe in the process.
I decided to wear the baby blue sun dress MC had insisted on but refused the death trap heels she tried to put on my feet.
I had my blue chuck-tailers with ankle length white socks. And because the dress has very tine spaghetti straps, i decided to wear a black high jacket on top. And with the borrowed small bag from my mom, my look was completely with my hair tied up in a low bun at the base of my neck.
I looked up as i heard the door open but saw a lady walk in with a small kid by her side and decided that is not my date.
This really was a blind date. At least for me.
Dad told me that Iven know what i look like and all i had to do was how up. He will find me.
I blew out a breath as i nervously shifted on my seat.
A waiter came over to my table and asked me what i would like to order but i told him that i was waiting for someone and i would order once he gets here.
Twenty minutes later, at exactly 7:30, a man walks in the restaurant and started to look around. I wasn't sure if that was my date or not so i looked out the window i was sitting next to.
A few seconds later, i hear my name.
"Princi, right?"
A musculan voice asked and i looked up to see that it was the man that just walked in.
"I'm Iven." He said as he reached his hand out of a shake. I took his hand in mine and shook it.
"Hi." I awkwardly said as he smiled and sat opposite to me.
"I'm not late, am i?" He asked and i shook my head.
Iven looked at me with a beautiful smile and his light hazel eyes. His dark hair fail on his forehead and stops just above his eyebrows.
He had a sharp nose and a nicely shaped jaw.
Iven's kind smile is a bones for his handsome looks.
He scratched the back of his head and looked out the window.
"Mr. Jona lied." He commented and i looked t him to continue.
Iven turns his attention back at me. "You loo absolutely nothing like him. You're beautiful."
His comment made me laugh. "Thanks." I said as i chuckled.
He is right. Dad does love telling everyone that i look exactly like him. I don't. People, I don't.
"Hope your hungry, cause i am starving." Said Iven as he picked his manu up and flipped through the pages.
This is good. He seems like a nice guy. And dad would have never set me up with him if he wasn't nice. This is really good. It is what i need.
"Yup." I said as i popped the 'p' "i am starving."
Iven and i ordered and started to chat as we waited for our food to be served.
Iven isn't just nice, he also has a great sense of humor. He is funny and likes to drop jocks here and there.
I laughed as he talked about my father's flip-flops he wore to his fathers' work place. And he laughed as i told him about how i assumed dad as cheating when i saw him change his clothe outside of home.
The conversation was about everything and nothing. We didn't touch any serious subjects- which i am great ful for- or any depressing news either. We just...talked.
By the time our food was served, we were basically eating like cave people. Iven did warn me that he was not going o pretend that his mouth was small because he was hungry as soon as the ood arrived.
He kept true to his word as he picked his burger up in his hands and swallowed almost half of it. So i was like...two can play that game.
It was...fun. actually, it was great. It was better than i thought it would be.
He is a very playful person. He stole some of my chips, i stole some of his ketchup.
At times...my mind would punish me by throwing some of the memories i had with Shawn on our first date. But i would quickly banish them out and focused on the man infront of me.
We finished our lunch and our plates were taken and replaced with coffee.
As we were talking about this and that, my phone rang and i fished it out from my bag to see that it was... shawn.
My blood ran cold as soon as i saw his name. Why is he calling? Is he here? Does he know I'm on a date?
So, what if he know. It is my right, isn't it?
"You okay?" Iven asked and i snapped out of it as i looked up at him.
"Yeah. I fine." I answered as the phone stoped ringing.
I took a deep breath and pick up the cup to take a sip but chocked when my phone started to ring again.
"Your phone...you should take it. It could be an emergency?" Iven commented and i nodded my head.
I though about stepping out to answer the phone but decided against it and pucked it up right where i sat.
Iven sipped his coffee as he looked out the window as if to give me privacy.
"Hello?" I called out and held my breath as i heard his voice.
"Miss Jona." Shawn called me and i frowned. Miss Jona?
"Yes." I answered and waited for him to continue.
"It seems there had been some mix ups at work. I was informed that you had been suspended for a month with out pay and it appears there have been some mistakes."
I frowned even more.
"How is that?" I aksed and heard him clear his throat.
"I was not made aware of the situation and some one else passed down he suspension. I would like to apologize for the mistake and inform you that the suspension has been lifted. You can come in on Monday."
With that, Shawn hangs up the phone and i was left speechless.
Mistake? Mix-up? Suspension was passed by some one else and not him?
"You okay?"
Iven's voice pulled me out of the fog i was in and i moved my eyes to him to see that he was looking at me.
"Yeah...i think so." I commented as i tilted my head to the side.
Am i really okay?
"Bad news?" He asked and i shook my head.
"No. Good news, actually." I answered before taking another sip from my cup.
"I was suspended from work for a month without pay but my boss just told me it was a mistake and i can start back in Monday."
Iven raised one brow at me.
"Suspension for month? Are we a trouble maker?" He asked with a silly grin and i laughed.
"Yes. Yes we are." I answered as i shook my head.
"Well...what ever it was, i'm glad you got your job back. Now you can pay for yourself." He commented with the same silly smile and i chuckled.
By the end of the date, Iven insisted that he was going to lay despite his jocks and drove me to my place.
"So...here we are. A successful first date." He commented after he opened the door for me.
"And hopefully fathers who would get off our back for a while?" I asked matching his early grin and he throws his head back as he laughed.
"I highly doubt they will leave us alone. But fingers crossed." He said as he crossed his index finger with his middle one on both his hands.
I copied his pose and crossed my fingers as well.
Iven lets his hands fall to his side before he looked over to my house and then back at me.
"So...I'll see you soon... Hopefully." He said as he flashed me a warm smile. I gave him my own smile before nodding my Head.
"Maybe?" I asked. Because i am not sure with myself at all.
Iven nodded his head before giving me a quickly hug.
I moved away from the car as he walked over to the drivers side and waves at me.
I waved back and watched him drive away.
I smiled and walked up to my door, knowing that my family was on the other side of it, ready to interrogate the hell out of me.
