Chapter 41

I sat on my bed, wondering how tomorrow would be like.

I will be returning to work after a week of suspension and i have absolutely no idea how thing are going to go.

Shawn said it was a mistake but the papers came straight from human resources and when i did confront them, they had told me that it was from above. If it wasn't Shawn, then who was it?

I blew a breath as i looked down at my phone.

Iven had text me a couple of minutes ago just to say hi. And i had texted back.

Our date was nice. No, it was perfect. He was the perfect gentle man and he made me feel better after such a depressing moment of my life. And that same night, he had texted me that he had really enjoyed himself and that he wished we'd do this again. By 'this', he means a second date.

I was almost positive that he would try to take me out but he said that he would let me decide if i want a second date or not.

Iven said that he didn't want to pressure me in to going out with him. But he mentioned that he really want a second date with me. Just if i want to.

I was surprised by how sweet he was and i had told him that i would think about it.

It's not that i don't want a second date with him. It's just that, with all the ways he was being so nice and considerate in to giving me full control over the next date, i felt like it was wrong to go out with him again when i obviously am in love with another man. Shawn.

I sighed as i threw my phone on my bed and went downstairs for dinner.

As i was expecting, my family were all waiting for me when i got back from my date with Iven.

And by 'family' I don't just mean just mom and dad. I mean, mom, dad, MC, my aunt, MCs' mom and to my surprise even MCs' dad was there too.

They had full on blasted me with all sorts of questions and i answered all of them by giving a simply summary of the date and quickly escaped to my room.

I walked in to the loving room to see my fathers' favorite seat empty. It was odd because dad usually sits here before mom call us for dinner.

I heard laughter and giggles coming from the kitchen and i slowly walked out of the living room to see my parents standing at the sink.

Mom was preparing the spaghetti for dinner as Dad hugged her from behind and followed her every step.

I have never seen my parents like this before. I mean, sure they are famous for their cuddles during movie nights but this is different.

Mom laughed as Dad kept on following her as he still hugged her from behind.

"I'm busy. Go away." Mom playfully said between laughs and Dad snuggled her neck, causing her to laugh even more.

I was worried that they were drifting apart but it was the complete opposite. They have always loved each other and they never failed to let one another know.

Maybe i was too self centered to see how much they loved each other.

With a smile on my face, i joined them and helped mom prepare dinner as dad stuck to her like a gum.

I slowly walked up to the elevator in the morning. My hope to getting stuck in the elevator was dumb but effective.

So i quickly hopped in and waited for the doors to close. But, a hand stoped the door and opened the doors back up.

I looked across to see that it was Shawn. I was positive that he would let me have this ride and take the next one but no. He stepped in and let the door shut.

Awkward.

"I'm glad you're back to work." He softly commented and nodded my head as i gave him a side glance.

He was staring straight ahead and i quickly looked away.

Damn him and his handsome face.

I blew a breath as i looked up at the numbers of the elevator going higher and higher.

"I had nothing to do with it." He whispered and this time, i looked at him freely.

He turned his head to look down on me and my heart stopped.

His Sea blue eyes bore into mine and I just couldn't look away.

"The employee at Human resources took the order from Lucy Chaws' father. He is one of our biggest investors..." He shook his head before looking back at me "I heard about it from Oliver. I made sure to take actions as fast as i can..."

He suddenly moved closer and i froze on my spot.

His right hand raised up to cup my cheek. He looked down on me in such a caring and loving eyes that i had to wonder why we broke up in the first place.

His thumb brushed against my skin.

"I'm really sorry i wasn't able to protect you." 

His words washed over me as he leaned in and pressed in forehead against mine.

I closed my eyes and welcomed the closeness.

I though he would kiss me, not he pushed away from me as if i burned him and looked straight ahead with absolutely no emotions on his face.

The elevator doors opened and he walked out as if out conversation didn't even happen.

I composed myself and walked over to my office.

When i walk in, Oliver was there to pull me in to a friendly hug.

"I'm so glad you're back. Work was so boring without you here."

He puled away and looked at me up and down as if we didn't hang out last night at our new apartment.

"Did you here what happened?"

He asked as he moved back to his desk. I shook my head and waited for him to continue.

"The boss fired the woman at Human Resources for giving you the suspension without his knowledge."

I looked over to Oliver with wide eyes and he continued.

"He found out that Lucy Chaws'father demanded that you get punished for tripping his daughter. He was the reason you got suspended without pay. The boss confronted Lucy Chaws' father and when he admitted that he got you suspended, he was furious. He told him to withdraw his investments and get the hell put of this company."

"WHAT?"

"That's not all, Princi. I saved the best for last. Since you got suspended for no good reason, the boss lifted your suspension and dropped it on Lucy chaw herself. He suspended her for a month...wait for it...with out pay."

When Oliver was done explaining, my mind was in tunnels. I had no idea what to think. But all i know, is that Shawn protected me and punished all who made my life terrible.
