Chapter 19

When we got to my house I told him to wait for me. I went up stairs to my room and grabbed the guitar I bought after our first date. He was outside of his car leaning while he waited for me.
I went closer to him and handed him the guitar.
“What is it?” he asked and I simply answered with “Happy birth day!”
“Are you seriously giving me your guitar?” he asked.
“No” I answered “On our first date you told me that your father broke yours. I bought this for you and never knew when would be the right time to give it to you. But after I found out that today is your birth day, I figured it would be the perfect gift.”
He took the case from my hand and said “I don’t know what to say.”
I sarcastically replied “How about thank you?”
He leaned the guitar against the car and placed his one hand on my whist to pull me closer to him, he place his other hand on back of my neck and kissed me.

It felt so amazing. Shawn knew how to kiss. He slowly massaged my lips with his as his hand traved up and down my back and his other one pulling me closer.

I have never felt anything like this before. Being in my sweet boss' arms and getting kissed until i forget my name...

Whwn he finally pulls away to press his forhead against mine, i was having a hard time breathing.

"Thank you." He whispered against my lips before pressing his lips in a more intence kiss. We shared our first kiss…

So we kissed. I had my first kiss with my first boy friend. Everything is going great for me. But for MC: not so much. She has been going crazy trying to find out who her mom had been having relationship with, and she has gotten closer multiple times but every time she confronts her mom she always has a different excuse.
I went to MCs’ house to tell her about me and Shawn but when I walked in, I saw MC and her mom sitting across each other in total silence.
I sat next to MC and asked her what was going on. She angrily answered “You will not believe what is going on. I caught my mom on the phone talking to some guy, even blowing him a kiss on the phone and now she wouldn’t tell me who it is.”
“Should I come back later?” I asked MC due to how uncomfortable the situation was getting.
“No” MC said “You are family and this family is about to have a hell of a conversation. You should be a part of it.”
“There is nothing to tell” said Mrs. C “I was just talking to a friend and we were just messing around.”
MC got even angrier “You are not taking another step until you tell me who it is.”
MCs’ words anger her mom: “Excuse me, I am your mother and I don’t need to explain myself to you.”
I leaned closer to MC and whispered “You should just tell her.” Her mom heard me “Tell me what” she asked.
I looked at Mrs. C and said “Mrs. C, MC and I already know you are seeing someone months ago.”
“What” MC mom asked confusedly!
I continued “It was before Christmas, MC and I heard you in your room on the phone talking to some guy. So please spare us this awkward moment and just be honest with us.”
“You have known since last year?” MCs’ mom asked.
“Yes” we answered to her equally.
“Alright then” she said “I met him at work…. his name is… Oscar… Marvel. Yes, his name is Oscar Marvel.”
“Oscar Marvel” said MC “It sounds like a fake name.”
“It’s not” MCs’ mom continued “He is from Texas and that is all.”
“When can we meet this Oscar guy?” MC asked.
“Not any time soon. The relationship is still so new and I don’t think ‘do you want to meet my kids’ would be the right direction for us.”
“How could you not tell me?” MC asked again.
“I told you now, didn’t I.” answered her mom.
“Noah almost threw his future for you because he thought that you were lonely. The only reason he went to New York was because I found out that you were dating. Do you realize? If that day Princi and I hadn’t heard you on the phone, Noah would have lost the one goal he worked towards his entire life.”
Silence took over the conversation. I feel like Mrs. C has realized that the secret she had kept for her happiness might have cause pain to her children.
Mrs. C broke the silence “I am so sorry. I never knew you felt this way. Let me make it up to you. I will cook you your favorite food.”
“I am not a child. You can’t win me over by food.” Said MC but then she broke “Can you bake chocolate cake?”
“Yes” answered her mom.
“Then I guess we will be fine.”
I remembered that I love Mrs. Cs’ cooking so I decided to guilt her in to cooking more for me too. “Well Mrs. C, I am actually really upset with you too. Because you skipped thanks giving and it really hurt my feelings.”
“Do you want me to cook for you too?” asked Mrs. C like she is talking to a six year old.
I smiled a little and said “Yes please.”
I had dinner at MCs’ house and went back home. Tonight is family movie night. We usually watch movie night with the Clowns, but seeing as how Noah is not in town and MC and her mom are in a bit complicated situation, we had to do movie nights just us, the Jonas.
We usually watch a movie by vote but since we are short of watchers, we just picked randomly. And the movie of the night was Ghost Rider. To be honest, we have already watched this movie a couple of times but still.
We started watching the movie and my parents started to snuggle. The lights are out but I can still hear them. They are talking, and it’s not always about the movie. They would whisper to each other ‘I love you’ and ‘how long has it been since we snuggled’. Usually when we watch with the Clowns, we would tell them to shut up and we would always win by a vote, but now I am all alone.
“You guys I am right here. I can hear everything you are saying.”
My dad answers “It is two to one; there is nothing you can do about it.”
“Come on, aren’t you a little bit old for this?” I asked
This time my mom answered “No one is too old for love.”
“I know you can’t see my face because it is dark” I said “So I am just going to say it, Ewe.”
I got a text. I picked up my phone and it was Shawn.
“Are you asleep?”
I texted back “No, movie night.”
“With whom?” he asked.
“Mom and dad”: I texted back.
“What are you watching?” he asked.
“Ghost Rider” I answered.
“Ghost rider? Isn’t that an old movie?” he asked.
“It is but since we are only three tonight, we just picked randomly.”
“Is it just me or are all the movies you watch action?” he asked.
“No… I don’t think so. I have seen movies that don’t have any action.” I answered.
He texted back quickly “Name three movies you’ve seen that is not action.”
I stayed put for a while trying to think but I couldn’t think of a single movie I have watched that doesn’t have any action so I texted him movies I have heard of but never seen.
“Romeo and Juliet, The note book and so on.”
It was like he can see the lie right through the text “You can’t even name three. Have you even seen any of these movies?”
“No” I answered.
“You know, I have never had a family movie night in my life” he texted.
“Really: not even once.” I asked.
“No” he answered.
“What about, before your parents got divorced?”
“Before my parents got divorced, Mr. Davis would be really busy with work or cheating. Whatever he was doing, all I know is that he was never home for a family moment.” he answered.
“Shawn, do you realize that more than you say ‘my father’ you just refer to him as ‘Mr. Davis’?”
“That is because” he texted “I never called him father: since the day he divorced my mom.”
“Wait, so all those years you call him by his sir name instead of ‘father’”
“Yes” he answered “He never gave me any second of his time so why should I waste mine calling him a title he doesn’t deserve.”
“Don’t say that. You might one day see that the times you wasted resenting him could have been the times you could have used to make your relationship better with him.”
“No, I might not know much about family relationship but what I do know is that my relation with him is a dead end.”
“I might not be able to fix your daddy issues but I can give you a family movie night.” I text him!
“How so?” he asked.
“I am inviting you to the next movie night. Hopefully it won’t be as boring as it is today. ”
“Are you sure? Will your family not mind?”
I stopped and looked at my parents. While they were still snuggling, I asked “Mom dad, is it ok if Shawn joins us next movie night?”
My mom answered “Oh yes sure. He should come, it will be fun.” Dad continued “Ya bring him. I need proof if you are really dating a guy like him.”
“Guy like him; what does that mean?” I asked. It is dark but I can see my fathers’ head tuning to the direction I was sitting at and he said “Nothing, just bring him.”
I texted him “They say ‘it’s fine’ you have their approval.”
“Thank you” he texted
