Chapter 52

I took a big bite out of my chicken and moaned in satisfaction.

"Eat more child. You look bony." Grandpa commented as he refilled my plate for the second time. The food was to die for. And even though my stomach was screaming at me for no more, i couldn't help but eat another bite to make grandpa happy.

I haven't even been with his for half a day and I'm already loving this man. He was kind and sweet and he made sure that there was a lot of food on everyone's plates. He would check if we liked it or if we wanted more every few minutes.

"It's really good, grandpa." I commented and his fave lighten up in a bigger smile.

"Good. Good. Eat more." He replied before looking over to my father and to my mother.

He stared at them so lovingly that i couldn't help but wonder why he pushed them away all those years ago in the first place. And it's then that it hits me.

I haven't met or seen my grandma yet and from the looks of it, none of them were waiting for her to come either. I glanced at grampa to see that he was taking a bite form his plate and then i moved my eyes around the dining room to look for any sign of his wife.

I saw nothing. But this is just the dinning room and if i could get to the living room, then maybe i can find pictures of her. Or better yet, I'll just ask grandpa where she is.

Just as i was about to speak, my grandpa beat me to it.

"Who wants dessert?" He asked and i looked round the table to see that the rest had sat their forks down a while ago.

"Not me, I can't take another bite." My aunt commented and my mom and dad nodded their heads. So, grandpa looked over to me.

"You aunt tells me you have a big sweet tooth. How about some desert."

I was going to refuse but grandpa clapped his hands twice and asked them to bring me dessert.

With a forced smile, i ate every single piece of food they put on my plate and grandpa couldn't be happier.

I excused myself and asked where the bathroom was. My aunt told me the directions.

After i walked into the bathroom and closed the door, i sighed out loud and touched my stomach.

God, I'm so full.

A groan escaped my lips as i walked over to the sink and looked at the mirror. Eating too much has worn me out and i look exhausted.

I splashed water on my face and walked back to the dining room. A woman who was wearing a maid uniform, informed me that my family has moved to the sitting room and showed me the way around.

This house is like a maze.

By the time i got to the opening leading in the living room, i heard them chatting and laughing about the time my father was just a little baby.

I walked in and saw that mom and dad were sitting next to each other while holding onto one another like their life depended on it.

My aunt sat at the one seat couch and my grandpa sat at a large brown leather couch that looked like a throne.

"What are you guys talking about?" I asked with a smile as i sat on the couch next to my aunt who answered my question.

"Oh...just about the time your father wore mom's high heels and ran around the house."

"It was just one time." My father mumbled and i smiled at him.

"Speaking of grandma, where is she?" I asked and the mood changed instantly.

I looked around the room to see that everyone's face was pained in a frown. My question hang on the air until my grandpa finally decided to answer.

"Evelyn passed away year ago." His answer shocked me.

"What?" I whispered but my grandpa gave me a soft smile.

"Don't worry about it child. If it wasn't for her, i would have had my family with me from the very beginning."

And that is when grandpa told me all the missing pieces of my parents past.

When my mother fot pregnant with Kevin, it was her parents and my father's mom who was against it. But my grandpa had wanted to take the both of them in and help them raise their family. But my grandmother refused and forbade him from helping my parents out.

My grandfather didn't put up a lot of fight against his wife and so he had to let them go.

The shocking revelation was that grandmother had refused to help them because my father was wasn't her biological son. He was the son of grandpas first wife who died after battling lung cancer when my dad was just four years old.

That means, my aunt is my father half sister and my grandmother's was an evil witch.

Grandpa then went on to tell me that he had regretted not fighting for his son harder and that he was crushed when he heard that his eldest grandson had passed away.

After grandmother died, he started wanting to reunite his family and so he starred to pressure my aunt in to taking over his business because he was well aware that she wanted to work in fashion and she will immediately run to my father to ask him fo help which she did.

"I woke up one morning and found myself utterly alone. I looked around and saw a Giant house filled with people who are just strangers and not my family.

I wanted to have what i had before. And before i could lose my daughter the same way i lost my son, i wanted to bring us together.

I'm not getting any younger. And even if it is true that i need an heir to tale over my business, i wanted to have my family back. I wanted to live in a home instead of a house."

His words touched me. I made sure to listen to every single thing he said and i was really happy i took Ron King's advice into giving him a chance before i decide anything. And I'm glade that i gave him a chance.

I smiled at my grandpa and he smiled back at me.

Soon, after the tears were wiped and the teas were served, the conversation took a bright turn and we started talking about small thing as well.

"So child, tell me. I heard from you aunt that you work at a big exporting company."

I nodded my head as i sipped my tea.

"Yeah. The Devis company. I'v been there for almost a year now. It's a really great company.

I'm actually completing for a promotion now."

My grandfathers' eyes twinkled. "A promotion?"

"Yes. There is an opening position for a senior management and i decided i was to try it out. I passed the first task and now i have no idea what I'm going to do for the next one."

"What tasks?" Grandpa asked uper excited and i can already tell that he is a bit of a workaholic.

"Well...the first task was applications and a recommendation letter from anyone who is involved in the company both directly or indirectly. I happened to know two great investor. So i got Ron King And Edward Swift to write me a recommendation."

"Ron King and Edward Swift." My grandpa chuckled"how did you manage to do that?"

I went on to explain about how i met those two through an Investor hunt and grandpa listened to me with his mouth wide open. My parents and aunt just watched the exchange between my grandpa and I without interrupting us even once.

"And what is the second task?" He asked and i sighed.

"Bring in a good investor with in seven days...well six days. I'm good at convincing investors but I don know where to find any. And there are eleven other managers who've been working the field for years so...my chance is slim to none."

"Well..." My grandpa smirked at me "you do have an investor who is willing to listen." He smiled and this time, my eyes twinkled.

Oh damn. Looks like I'm done with task number two.

SWEET.
My Sweet Boss And I.
