Chapter 50
I took a deep breath as i walked out of he senior management office.
I just submitted my information and the two recommendation letters i got from Ron King and Edward Swift. I was a little nervous when i saw the number of files and documents on the table of the managerial office when i walked in to submit my file. But i am also more than confident with my recommendation letters.
Ron King and Edward Swift couldn't have been nicer about it. They were both sure supportive and encouraged my journey to promotion.
My meeting with Edward Swift was more professional as we discussed about the Davis Company and all the good fortunes and profit he got from his investment. He thanked me a few times for stubbornly laying on the floor and refusing to leave without pursuing him in to investing.
Our conversation would sometimes switch over to the loved ones' we lost. Edward spoke very fondly of his son and my brother.
He wrote me a well deserved recommendation letter that explained my good ethics and hard work. He had also mentioned at the investment and how i managed to persuade him in a way non of the workers in the company had. He also insisted that i stay for lunch and fed me well.
My meeting with Ron King was a bit different though. While Edward Swift and I were politely strict about what we talked about, Ron King talked non stop about everything and nothing.
He spoke about his children, his children-children, he mention the new art piece he bought and even showed me the beautiful painting he hang in his giant office. He tried to talk about Shawn briefly but since everyone involved in the company already knew about the whole relationship and us breaking up, Ron King was nice enough to quickly change the subject.
Ron King is such a comfortable person that i ended up consulting him about my grandfather who suddenly wanted to have dinner with me and my family. He listened to me carefully and then answered to my unasked question.
"Well..." Ron said "I might not know all the back story but age does things to you. When you grow old, you miss the small things that you never did. You wish you had done things different. And most of all, when you grow old and realize that your age had no longer got your back, you look around you and you see the people beside you.
"I see my family. I miss my wife but i have reminders of her. This very house for instance. But, in your grandfathers' case, he might look around and see no one. Just absent ghosts who were supposed to be his family. It may be that your grandfather wants to mend broken memories and heal his broken family.
"Maybe he regretted pushing your father away when he needed him the most... You can never know unless you go to see him for yourself."
After having tea and dinner, Ron King had wrote a generous letter to highlight me very well and sent me on my way to think about giving my grandfather a chance before i decided anything.
And so, i now walk out of the office after submitting two wonderful recommendation letters with my head heald up high.
I walked back to pur office and sat infront of my desk with a sigh.
"How did it go?" Oliver asked.
"I just submitted my files. Since submission stops by the end of the day, then I'll be able to know if i move forwards in a week or so."
Just as i was about to power my computer, Lucy Chaw walked with a stack of files in her hand.
She carefully placed the files on my desk. "This is from the finance department. I was told to pass it down to you." She commented and i waited for her to continue.
Lucy Chaw looked at me and sighed. "I was also told to inform you that summary of the applications sent for the promotion will me in three days time, not a week. Since you're the last person to submit, senior management forgot o inform you. If you pass then you will be given a new task."
She finished and then glance over to Olly who had his head down and looking at his phone.
"Hi, Oliver." She greeted and his head snapped up just as mine did. Lucy gave his a small smile and walked out of the office.
"Did she seriously just call me by my actual name?" Olly asked me in shock.
Almost ten month since Lucy started working and she had never once called him by his real name.
"I think she did. She was even polite enough not to throw the files on my face." Because the old Lucy Chaw would have done that.
She's been really different after her month suspension without pay and I don't know weather to be happy of scared.
"That was really weird..." Oliver commented "well, I'm off to IH department."
He left and i looked at his walking figure to see that he had no excitement in his bones what so ever. Oliver would have been happy about Lucy Chaw acknowledging his presence let alone call him by his real name. But now, he had absolutely no reaction to her.
Then, i remembered his confession about being in love with MC and i felt bad for him all over again. MC needs to wake up and give Oliver a chance too.

Oliver looked like he was about to blow up. He looked across the living room at a smug faced Chris with a glare that should be enough to kill a person.
I walked in to this stare down and neither of then spoke a work to each other or even acknowledge the fact that i walked in to the apartment.
I made sure o quickly call MC and let her know of the situation. I could hear her panic as she told me she was on her way. That was twenty minutes ago and the tension in the apartment is so thick that it could be cut with a knife.
I let out an awkward break as Chris looked around the house with his eyes right were he sat. Oliver met my eyes for a split second before he turned his glare back at Chris. What the hell is he doing here?
The front door burst open and MC frantically walked in. All eyes turned to her and she looked over the living room but she made sure not to look Oliver in the eyes.
"What are you doing here?" She asked Chris as she dropped her bag on the floor.
"I came to see you." Chris answered as he got up and walked over to MC. He pulled her in and tried to kiss her bit she moved away from him.
"Why are you her, Chris?" She asked again in a more serious tone.
Chris looked taken aback with her tone and looked back at Oliver who wasn't even looking at the two.
"Can't i come to see you " he asked and MC got more mad.
"Not when i specifically told you that my apartment is off limits. why would you even come here when you already know that i would be at work?"
Oh. At first i though MC told him to come here to rub it in Oliver's face. But now, seeing her concerned and hearing that she warned him not to come here, i can see that she had absolutely nothing to do with his...other than dating a lunatic.
Chris stayed silent for a couple of seconds before looking at her. "Look, if wanting to see you is a mistake then I'm sorry. I just wanted to see you is all."
MC looked away from him. "I think you should go, Chris." She picked up her back and stormed off to her room.
Chris looked at her door and then at Oliver. He looked angry as he glanced back at MCs' door. But instead of making a scene, he walked out the front door and slammed it shut as hard as he can.
I flinched when the door slammed and then glanced at Oliver. He was staring in to space without blinking his eyes.
I sighed and i went to my own room to shut the door to all the drama this two are creating.
***
The next few days flew by quickly with nothing out of place happening or MC and Oliver talking. For all i know, those two might never talk again.
I have been spending the last few days avoiding Shawn as much as i can and that includes giving Lucy Chaw to pass the end of the day reports ot Shawn instead of doing it myself.
Lucy had told me that the boss wants the high managers themselves to pass him the reports but i made up some excuse and as able to avoid it.
But today...i was really nervous because the applications submitted for the senior promotion have been reviewed and the names of the managers passing to the next stage would be listed on the giant board up front in a few minutes.
I was a little nervous ball as Oliver and i walked to the board to see if i passed.
There were a lot of employees infront of the board as the two of us approached. I looked up at the board to see that there were only twelve names. Only twelve managers passed the recommendation letters.
I stood there in shock, already knowing that the chances of my name being on the board is slim to non. I sighed in defeat and turned around to leave only to hear Olly cuss.
"Holy Sh*t, Princi you're in."
I gasped as i turned round to look at the board. I traced the list with my eyes until thet landed on the very last name of the list.
'High Manager Princi Jona.'
I'm freaking in.
